The optic looks to be mounted too far back, the magazine is of the wrong type, the foregrip needs to be attached to the bottom rail, a fire selector would be nice, the front BUIS looks to be merged with the upper rail, and it looks like you need to depict the gas system behind the handguard.

Try mounting the sight over the magwell, or close to that position, which should let you add some back up iron sights, and move the foregrip down a bit more, so that the top of it is flush the bottom of the rail indents.

Also, I've just noticed this, but the charging handle at the rear of the receiver is being blocked by the stock. You might want to fix that up.

The case is 57mm long and 9.8mm in diameter, so there's not really any volume savings vs the 5.56 NATO. It does, however, have a 85 grain, steel cored projectile with a muzzle velocity of 884 m/s from a 508mm barrel, providing a combination of good ballistics, low recoil and low ammunition weight. Initially, it was intended to be a pure "green" round, but in order to achieve the combination of ballistics, mass and realistic twist rate, I gave in and used a lead cup around the hardened steel. Based on the performance of the 5.8x42mm, it should be able to penetrate 3mm of mild steel out beyond 1000 metres but, thanks to the air gap, will still offer decent terminal ballistics. The indentations around the "cap" of the projectile are to enable soldiers to feel which end is when when loading their magazines/loading belts into the MG in low light conditions.

The scale is 13 px/mm, for anyone who's interested.

It needs back up iron sights, the flash hider doesn't look to be properly in line with the barrel, and the magazine still isn't right for 7.62x39mm.

Or he could have a rifled barrel. Seriously, there is no reason why he could not wrap the coilgun around a rifled barrel. Not only would it spin the projectile up but it would also help keep it stable and thus safe in case of a failure in the electrical system. As in a short circuit would not send the bullet flying into the coils.

The coils would likely affect the barrel too, and energy and the barrel would be lost by the coils trying to accelerate the barrel.

Does it offer any tangible benefits?
It'd probably make your enemy think "fuck this" but I can't imagine anything worthwhile.

Issuing them en masse would probably result in a total environmental disaster.

The tangible benefit is that it gives snipers the ability to engage targets that would normally require a .50 caliber+ rifle. What they were actually used for who knows.
