Postby Bolden » Mon Jul 01, 2013 4:19 pm

How is organic food viewed upon in your nation? Do the citizens in your nation prefer organic foods rather than non-organic foods? Is there a major price difference between organic food and non-organic food? Do many "fast food" restaurants use organic ingredients within their food? Tell me all about it when it comes to your nation..

It is viewed as good .Approximately 50% of Vazdania's food is "organic". There is not much of a price difference between the two, although organic tends to be slightly cheaper due to lack of excessive chemical exposure. Fast Food companies may use whatever food they like so long as it passes inspection and it is properly labeled.

The Islands rely very heavily on organic food, being an agricultural producing nation. Many people are firmly against inorganic & artificial foods, due to many health scandals.

With fast food, we don't have many places at all, so the few places that are out there use organic ingredients.

Organic food has to be labelled as such by law if sold commercially.
Producing things organically is generally viewed as redundant, and unnecessary. The vast majority of Conscentian food is not organic.

When you have a massive population to feed, organic foods are unreliable and non-profitable. Modified food is much easier to deal with, and most crops in Khanastan are at the top of their genetic prowess due to modification. Livestock is given space to live in, but is still kept in a profitable manner.

Organic food is not popular in our nation due to there not being enough arable land (What is there is used for GM crops) any organic food has to be imported from overseas.

As a traditional and old culture, Caxan never widely adopted processed foods and many other innovations. That being said, organic food mainly its classification of has caused some controversy. The government has ruled that most food falls under the terms organic and biological, instead there are more specific labelling such as pesticide free. The main concerns are the competing interests of the agriculture industry and those who want more affordable food.

Known as "natural food" here and mostly produced in fringe colonies lacking the advanced equipment for more advanced food production. Sure you can grow crops and farm livestock the old-fashioned way if you live on a nice and cosy A-class planet with liquid water, Terra-like atmosphere and temperatures, an ozone layer and a magnetosphere to protect your foodstuffs from radiation, and there are no hazardous native lifeforms to threaten them - but this kind of world is somewhat rare to come by. Most planets don't have one or more of these luxuries, meaning the crops/livestock must be either genetically-altered to adapt to the environment or be provided other forms of protection.

Organic farming is also not an option when you have a population of tens of billions to feed, as is often the case on developed worlds. For this reason, most food eaten in the Imperium is produced artificially - from massive hydroponic farms to biotech labs that grow artificial meat to synthetic food plants that mass-produce nutrients from basic amino-acids and proteins.

So simply put, natural food is a rare luxury in the Imperium.

Growing, producing, and eating organic food is considered to be a waste of time and resources and is believed to lack protection. Why should we let our crops be ruined because of pests and weeds when we could use pesticides and herbicides?

How is organic food viewed upon in your nation?
Organic food grown without the use of advanced technology is considered to be a luxury product and most people prefer it, however owing to the needs of feeding large populations on some rather hostile worlds advanced farming techniques utilizing GMOs or replicators are required to produce enough food to feed everyone.
Hunting is also widely practiced and the hunt mistresses ensure that all the game in the hunting parks is free of chemical contamination.

Do the citizens in your nation prefer organic foods rather than non-organic foods?
Yes it is the preferred option.

Is there a major price difference between organic food and non-organic food?
Premium organic food is not part of the government free food program and people have to pay for it. Fortunately it is relatively inexpensive and most people can have at least one meal of organic food a day.

Do many "fast food" restaurants use organic ingredients within their food?
A couple of chains have premium product lines that use organic ingredients , but they are generally a credit or two more expensive.

It is a niche market in the food industries of this country. There are those who enjoy organic cuisine, and as always, where there is a need or a desire, there will shortly be suppliers.

It's mostly a niche market, but recently it's becoming a quite a fad. So organic foods might be profitable in the near future.

It is a niche market, that will never take off. Why eat some organic food which could carry infestation and not pass health inspection when you can eat GMO foods/foods with pesticides to prevent such things?

between composting, companion planting and integrated pest management, the use of poisons in growing our food has long been completely obsolete. thus essentially all food grown in cameroi is "organic".

How is organic food viewed upon in your nation?

Oh, we want our food to contain carbon atoms. Oh, that is not what you mean? Let me re-start then: Badly. The so called organic food is the domain of subsistence farmers who always have to pray to survive dry season. And if you would give these people a choice, they would immediately jump to better options.

Do the citizens in your nation prefer organic foods rather than non-organic foods?

No, actually quite the other way around. Think of a tribe in the xentiran jungle: it eats organic food and still the average lifespan is only 30ish years. Rejistanis actually like GMOs because they seem progressive to them.

Is there a major price difference between organic food and non-organic food?

Organic food is only really obtainable in the xentira where subsistance farmers sell it.

Do many "fast food" restaurants use organic ingredients within their food?

Not really.
