I just use appropriate sounding words, EG: Hunter, Warrior, Vanguard, etc... translated into either Norwegian or Swedish normally. The Greater Luthorian Empire wrote:What are peoples' naming conventions for their vehicles, like Germany uses big cats (Panther, Tiger, Leopard), US uses generals (Sherman, Patton, Abrams, Pershing)? Some of these pickup trucks have been haphazardly armed with weapons such as the M40 recoilless rifle and the DShK heavy machine gun so they can act as light fire support platforms.
HEAT can penetrate, but it does a limited amount of damage outside it's beam.Questers wrote:Both are on a rotary carousel below the fighting compartment. The crew sit on them, literally. They do no sitt as you would sit on a chair but more as if you were sitting on the floor on a "pillow." By floor I mean "spinning disc of 125mm ammunition." Don't worry though, the carousel is actually protected from splinters; there's no penetration of the vehicle that would detonate the ammunition that wouldn't fry you anyway. The carousel roof does not rotate but you are still technically sitting on it; I imagine you can feel the vibration.

Largely whatever sounds cool. I've gone from the likes of "Timberwolf" to largely nowadays things to do with Native Americans, which is where things like Li Toneur comes from (Think the translation is "Lightning" for that one).

I normally do animal names in Afrikaans (Bontebok, Rooibok, Boerboel, Boerbok, Bergkat etc). It's really easy to mix and match in that language. Occasionally however I will name a vehicle after its designer - individual or company.

"Medium Tank" is Li Toneur, which is "Thunder", not lightning like i thought
My Heavy Tank/Assault Tank is Aenfizzi, which i cant locate atm in my list of translations
IFV is Li Tenan, which is Lieutenant
EDIT: Aenfizzi is "gun"

Licana on the M-21A2 MBT: "Well, it is one of the most badass tanks on NS."
Vortiaganica: Lamoni I understand fully, of course. The two (Lamoni & Lyras) are more inseparable than the Clinton family and politics.
Triplebaconation: Lamoni commands a quiet respect that carries its own authority. He is the Mandela of NS.
