Why'd you lose the bore extractor?

I have a question then, Arby. Why do you have a similarly sized gun on the assault gun version? One of the major advantages of an assault gun is that you can realistically mount a much larger gun on a chassis that normally would be unable to carry it in a turret.

For example, my Orussian designs.
The medium MBT mounts a 122mm L/56. The assault gun on that same chassis mounts a 152mm L/48, and it's only 2 tons heavier.
My heavy MBT mounts a soft-recoil version of the 152 L/48, but the assault gun version has a 180mm L/46.

I mean, I'm not saying you NEED to do it. Just to me, the tank can do exactly everything the assault gun can do, but it has the restriction of a fixed gun. So give the assault gun the advantage of having a bigger gun.

If a tank cannot handle a 180mm gun in its turret, it cannot handle it in the superstructure. Unless you do something else to mitigate recoil.

A monster gun like a 180mm gun definitely is easier to cram into a fixed mount, but recoil is still mostly a matter of weight and the length of the stroke.

I may add a large bore HE lobber in the future, but for me when you start needing something +155mm for direct fire, I use a missile.

Note. This is not to say that modern militaries should be ignored. Just because they're changing to focus more on low intensity war doesn't mean that they wouldn't know how to deal with a Soviet motor rifle division bearing down on them.

Yea it does if they haven't been trained for it.

One thing we're not also not training/preparing for anymore - lots of fucking ECM everywhere.

Meh. Large-bore HE shells are rather less interceptable.

That, and HEAT shells get absurd amounts of penetration when you start going over 150mm.

I'd like to see you try and fit some bustle stowage around that or move a box over a metre in length elsewhere in an existing turret.

Considering that NS tank rounds are also roughly a meter in length....
I don't understand your point. I mean, it's the size of four tank rounds as well as part clearances for them.

If it can somehow get a shot through an open hatch

If it gets a lucky shell to somehow go down the exhaust pipe

If a squad of soldiers ride on top of it until it gets next to the tiger then jump onto the tiger and forcibly kill the occupants

Well I mean the Panther did have relatively poor side armour that the 37mm M6 might be able to pen at close range. I know a Stuart would get annihilated in an open field against most tanks, but in a city could the Stuart stand a chance?

They also used the 75mm along with the 37mm.

Not rly, it would have to hit the rear, but then the threat of infantry would cancel it would. Also sending a Stuart into a city wut.

Even 75mm armed Shermans needed to get rly close to smash a Panther's side armor.
