My first thought is just to make a new version of the BRM-3K with more artillery-specific sensors and equipment. On the other hand, for ultimate non-conspicuousness, it might be better to do something more like the FV 514 Warrior with the BMP-3 as starting point. Naturally I'm undecided. It would be really nice to at least keep the 30mm gun. I don't know if that can be done with the normal BMP-3.
I'm also toying with the idea of adding a recce troop to my tank battalions like the Brits have. I can't decide between a more U.S.-style armored cavalry with a dismount capability or a more British-style that's focused more tightly on mounted observation. So basically the question is BMP-3s or Spruts. My divisional recce units are pretty much U.S. cavalry "squadrons" of the late Cold War but with Russian equipment so for the sake of orderliness I might be inclined for the former option.
Have you considered the BRDM-3?

So you're using the BTR-80 as an IFV, even though it was primarily designed for recon and the like.
And you're using IFVs like the BMP for recon.

I was going to mention that editing a poll resets it, but I didn't think it'd actually be edited.

That's fine then. But on this thread, he was nominated properly, so keeping him off because of popular disapproval (which could be expressed through a lack of votes rather than removal from the ballot) is not the right way of handling it.
Regardless, I'm glad the ballot was edited to include all individuals who were appropriately nominated.

Dragomere has a really bad track record beyond just here. If he gets the OP, I'm not rejoining the thread.
