Pity parties may not be against the rules, but that doesn't make them any less needless.Fashiontopia wrote:I'm saying that Torrocca and Alimeria and good artists... if you want me to stop complimenting them I will.
Because that's obviously the part he was referring to.
-------
I haven't seen any Minecraft creations posted here, and I like building vehicles, so I figured I'd post my most recent: a Russian T-35 heavy tank.
Side view. I'm a terrible camera man, so the background is cluttered with my other terrible creations.
Here you can see the five turrets, each one with a functional "cannon" that can be loaded with arrows or fire charges. The realworld T-35 had three cannon turrets and two smaller, machine gun turrets, but when I attempted to recreate this particular aspect I was unable to center the main gun, which is why my final model has five turrets of identical dimensions.
View of the antennae array encircling the main turret.
The vehicle has very little (i.e. nothing) in the way of ground clearance in favor of having a full interior. Here you can see the driver's viewport. Not shown is the trapdoor I added later, which can be flipped down to shield the viewport at the cost of some visibility.
Driver's Compartment: Two levers allow the driver to control the direction of the treads. Or at least, they would, if the tank could move. However, as 90% of realworld T-35s were lost due to mechanical failures, I would say that this lack of mobility isn't a flaw, but a feature that enhances the authenticity. Supplies and ammunition are stored in a chest to the right of the driver.
Fighting Compartment: Multiple ladders allow access to all five turrets.
Engine Compartment: The rearmost compartment houses the vehicles coal-powered, four-cylinder engine (they're really big cylinders, though). When it isn't powering their war machine, the crew can occasionally be found using it to cook raw porkchops.

As I understand it, Tekkit has something (it might be Redpower 2, I'm not sure) that would allow me to make a moving construct, but I would have to make the entire vehicle out of frames and panels, I wouldn't be able to use stairs, slabs, and dispensers, and I wouldn't be able to make it turn.

Purpelia wrote:That's the one. But yes, you can use stairs and everything. The trick is to know your "panel" vs "cover" blocks. Covers do not stick to things they touch. So you use them for the side you want to touch the ground and generally face outward. But panels do. So if you want to have a stairs block on top of a frame you just cover that side of the frame with a panel and stick the stair block on top of the panel and it will move along with the rest of the assembly.
Note. Panel and Cover might be mislabeled here. I am newer sure which is which. But that's how they work.

That's not THAT busted, you can easily get that up 'n running through a monitor. I had a laptop once, and it fell on the little ferrite bead in the cable, the screen slammed down... And I had HALF the screen blanked after that. Half. Didn't bother me, I had a monitor, so I kept using it while I ordered a new one. Long story, I know, but if you have a monitor that allows you to completely ignore the busted screen.

Yeah... No money for a monitor and don't have one, nor do I have the money for a replacement. I'm currently saving to altogether replace my laptop with a desktop.
@Fash, you're funny. Cereal dough, halp meh. But it's cool torr got me.

I dunno if I'll ever trying that, because I'm not very knowledgeable of Redpower (or even basic redstone contraptions), but at least I learned something.
I'll see about posting some other designs over the course of the next few days.
