The roads are generally very safe, though occasionally accidents do happen, as there are no speed limits for regular cars on the national highways. (Similar to the German Autobahns)

The Road of Prayers (الطريق من الصلوات) is the most dangerous road in the country. Spanning from the capital of Crown Point to the old Ramanian capital of Frieden, it is the traditional road and was the only road to span between the two countries. Due to popular demand, there is no federal regulation of the road, which would have led the road to be paved. As a result, the provinces have differing regulations. Some parts have the road paved, but the majority of it is gravel. It is protected by bands of vigilantes, which must be paid for protection in some of the more rural parts of the country. In the hills of what used to be Ramania, the roads tend to suffer from erosion due to constant precipitation. In these parts, many of the deaths are caused by vehicles falling off the road into the valleys below. In the Grismorian portion, the sparsely populated deserts tend to cause several deaths in a variety of ways. Some careless travelers fail to pay the vigilantes; some travel alone and are attacked by bandits; some run out of gas along the way (it's important to stock up on supplies when traveling on this leg of the road). As a whole, some 1,200 deaths occur every year.

Our vehicles aren't cars, they're landspeeders, since cars pollute. But our landspeeders go only 10 feet high maximum, so once time someone in one went down a lone road that went in to the barren arctic. 5 miles in the arctic, the man disappeared. The highway is known as Road 66. He probably fell off a cliff since part of Road 66 was perched on a 1000 foot high cliff. So it's a pretty scary and dangerous road.

Our roads are generally safe and regularly maintained. However The A17 going through Algonquin can be dangerous during the bumper to bumper traffic during rush hour.

The mountain roads are pretty well maintained, but the combination of weather, landscape, and wildlife makes the mountains roads the most dangerous of them all.

Most roads in Valcluse are generally well maintained, although there is a stretch along of autoroute along the northern coast which has a particular reputation for being dangerous. The A32 between Haguenau and Peron at the head of the northwest tip of the mainland is considered to be particularly dangerous due to the proximity of the road to the coastline. Winter storms generally create waves which wash onto the road and cause black ice if not properly cleaned, which has caused accidents in the past. Fog is another problem and is colloquially called "The White Death" due to the thickness of the fog sometimes. Minor roads in the mountains are also considered dangerous as some of the older ones lack proper guard rails or are very narrow.

The main isle of Waspeaters has a very kind climate and not too many hilly regions, so the majority of the roads are quite safe. However, there are places in the countryside (in the south especially) where the roads are little more than muddy tracks. So when you're driving through the middle of nowhere in pitch darkness and your car gets stuck, it can be very frightening, to say the least.

Basically, all the roads.

We take time to pave and maintain roads within major cities, but everywhere in-between cities is rarely even marked on maps. Some drivers just go through open fields if they think it's the fastest way to their destination.

The most dangerous road in Sivonia is in the city of Vatar, a northern city. The road, route 67 (Tamisko Road) crosses over a very dangerous bridge while crossing the Vatari River. Almost monthly, the bridge is in need of repair, as the river floods and destroys the bridge. Projects to create a tunnel under the river have been created, but nothing has been set. In 1987, the bridge collapsed after a huge flood, and was hastily rebuilt by 1989.

All of our roads are safe for our people to drive on, but the road leading to Fort Andrew (our capital that is very militarized and only key people are allowed into it) for dozens of miles is watched HEAVILY by the Andrew military, and they are authorized to basically fire upon any and all unregistered vehicles or any vehicles that do not have permission to enter.

Every road has a failsafe monitor at each junction. But the unsafe road is the R4532 from the village of Royexes, past the hills of the Ask Valley and to East Sylvain, and it is the most central and longest road in St Pauls.

The nation's most dangerous road based on natural terrain is the Khakabpao Road I, which is a minor road used to link the small village of Khakabpao, Siramaew (pop. 21) to the North-South Highway. Khakabpao is located in Doi Khakabpao, the highest mountain in Dtin, and is often visited by tourists looking to scale the heights of Doi Khakabpao. However, with numerous twists, turns, sharp corners and elevations rising to 100m above sea level make this road a tough feat to scale. In the summer, when the tourist season is at its peak, more than 50 fatal accidents can happen along this road on the way up the mountain, making it one of the most deadly and dangerous in the country.

Image
Khakabpao Road I

However, the title of the nation's most dangerous road truly belongs to the Sinthuthat-Khao Kaen section (NEM1-39) of the Northeast Minor Highway I. Linking the major population hub of Khao Kaen and its close neighbour Sinthuthat, this section is at its busiest during peak hours with workers, commuters and residents seeking to beat the crowd who stick to the much safer route on the Northeast Major Highway. Passing through Khilat Mountain with many sharp corners, this is further exacerbated by reckless, speeding drivers and the preconceived notion that the road is protected by the gods. An average of 20 accidents occurs every week.

Photo of the cracks on Nowhere Road, taken in 2012.

Nowhere Road (Cleoyean Chichewa: Kosadziwika Msewu) is the most dangerous road in Cleoye. It is often the site of many accidents (some of which are fatal) per year due to cracks caused by a little-known fault hidden underneath the road, which causes many earthquakes, which also causes most of the accidents. It is called the Nowhere Road due to the fact if you are able to drive freely into the end of the road without a accident (which is increasingly rare), it leads you to the middle of nowhere.

TurtleShroom's roads are privatized outside the only highways (the Postal Routes), which were paved in 1933 AD. As such, it is usually not profitable to pave asphalt roads in the styx of nowhere. This makes all roads flattened dirt roads, and those have risks involved.

Thankfully, the general lack of personal automobiles in TurtleShroom make car crashes and getting run over non-existent.
TurtleShroomers travel by rail and by bus, and the busses are designed to be steady and smooth on dirt roads.

The most dangerous railroad is the no man's land track linking the port city of Dire Dire Docks to actual TurtleShroomer borders. Dire Dire Docks is the only way TurtleShroom can export its products by sea. DDD is not officially a part of TurtleShroom, which is landlocked. Technically, it's its own country, the Asian Coalition, but that was exterminated by the invasions of the Aashinians of Comrade Commisar.

The railroad is a war zone and is held by TS only because the conquerers of the old Coalition did not want it. At any moment, the railroad and Dire Dire Docks could be attacked. DDD is heavily fortified and could probably withstand invasion, but the desert stretch of railroad connecting it only has soldiers guarded with some garrisons of tanks and missiles on hand.

Any tourist or TurtleShroomer travelling the railroad knows there is a risk of attack, but there hasn't been one since the conquest and there isn't a real threat that there will ever be.

As a nation where flight is the main means of travel, there are next to no roads to begin with, let alone any in good condition. The two Post Roads (the only land routes in the entire country) cover 500 kilometers, and are little more than a single dirt path. Given that upkeep would be expensive ($6 million a year), the Republic has foregone maintenance, and the Empire also opted to abandon maintenance given different priorities. Those taking the road can expect weeds, mud, and occasionally banditry. No deaths have occurred, but that's mostly because the half-dead, unconscious bodies lying face-down in the muck are taken in and nursed back to health by the local bees before being allowed to continue the journey.

All of our roads are dangerous, even more so out in the boondocks. Some roads barely exist at all!

But the most dangerous by far is the Quilt Mountain Passage, which is besieged daily by blizzards, wind storms, and torrential rain, often within hours of each other. Only a complete moron would attempt to pass through Quilt mountain. It's even dangerous to fly over there, so the research station is often low on supplies.

In Pantopia, the Grand Desert Freeway between Kalita and Cantopa is the most dangerous stretch of Pantopia's highway system. The GDF winds though mountains and rocky deserts. temperatures range between -30F and 130F. There are only 3 towns on the entire 710 mile road, so travelers are urged to strap auxiliary fuel tanks to their cars before a journey on the GDF.
