School uniforms in your nation

Postby Bakhara » Fri May 31, 2013 6:50 pm

Are students required to wear uniforms in school?
If so, what do they wear?

In Bakhara, most kids are homeschooled or have a private tutor. Only the rich kids can afford to go to school.

Schoolboys wear a loose robe, trousers, undershirt, sandals, and a belt that tells what grade you are in.
Schoolgirls wear long foot length gowns and transparent veils.

School uniforms are extremely rare in the Radiatian Federation. Occasionally, students at snotty private schools will be required to wear them, but otherwise it is highly unusual.

Only in the Home Islands, Manchukuo, Reformed China, and Indochina.

In the other states, such as Indonesia, Burma, Greater Siam, Siberia, etc, uniforms are non-compulsory.

Students from Grade 4-6 wear uniforms, as well as Middle school and High school students. Uniforms varies from school to school. Private schools can decide on their uniform policy.

Students are not required to wear uniforms until junior high.

The uniforms vary from school to school but males generally wear trousers (either black, khaki, or navy), dress shoes, and dress shirts.

Females wear short sleeved button down blouses and thigh lengths skirts.

There are no laws requiring any uniforms in schools. Auzkhian schools do not have any dress code as public nudity is legal, due the fact that some people such as ponies normally do not wear clothes.

While school uniforms are compulsory for all institutions of learning below college/sixth-form, there is no universal design. All schools therefore have their own unique designs and colour schemes.

The vast majority of schools have uniforms, though there are some schools that provide an exception. The resulting psychological differences between students of both types is something currently under study at the University of Shayr.

The school uniforms are pretty standard for all schools. The illustration below shows the basic layout for boys and girls.
The blue trim, ties, and other parts are changed depending on the school, which tends to put it's colors for the student body. Also, the crest on the left chest is to the particular school.

Schools in the Federation are all privately run and there are no laws against having a uniform policy. No government in the FFR bothers to spend precious tax dollars keeping track of such things, so we have no idea what percentage of schools have uniforms. However, it is not uncommon to see teenagers on the streets of our cities in the afternoons wearing what appears to be a uniform from some school. Since it is up to the individual school, the specific styles of uniforms almost certainly vary a great deal. There are also plenty of teenagers that clearly attend schools with little or no restrictions on what they can wear. It all comes down to what the parents and students prefer.

Even the Republics run by Progressives won't consider starting government-run schools because they cost more than vouchers for private schools and the Constitution has a 10% of income cap on taxation, which applies to all levels of government. It is basically impossible to pay for government schools, except at the expense of other functions of government, so school choice is basically entrenched as a national policy, although the Radicals have been trying to abolish vouchers in some Republics and the Progressives and religious extremists have attempted to regulate, in some Republics, what private schools must or must not teach as part of their curriculum. Generally, however, schools have autonomy and compete for students.

Students at Church of Saintland schools are required to wear uniforms, which resemble those you'd expect to see at a Catholic school in foreign nations, since the Catholics are basically a Church filled with schismatics. All children whose parents are citizens of Saintland attend a Church of Saintland school.

Foreign resident schools used to have more autonomy to operate as they wish, but after a number of incidents during the middle of the current school year, King Paulus XV issued a Decree, handing authority over school rules and disciplinary procedures to a monk or nun. Most foreign resident schools that did not have uniforms have since adopted them, although they are of a different style than the uniforms from the Church schools, as it is illegal for a foreign resident school to adopt a uniform in the style of a Church of Saintland school. That law exists to prevent confusion and help easily identify the citizenship status of youths.

Children are required to wear school uniforms until they reach the end of their VTI, JC or Poly education. These uniforms' designs will be decided upon by the respective schools.
