You do know what phasing out is, yes? It is what RL nations do when they are switching over to new equipment.
Also, many RL nations use different types of weapons in active service due to the same reason.
True, but phasing out is a timely process due to the need of reconfigurating the military production line and retraining of the military to use it effectively, especially if it is very different from the existing one, which is why we would prefer to only purchase some of the standardised weapon as auxillary. While having different weapons in a unit is unavoidable, having more than essential can be a nightmare, as the Japanese military found out having more munition type than there are men in a squad did not work well with its piss-poor supply capacity.
