KA-2288c "Vigil" Disc Launcher

Type: Disc launcher, mechanical
Origin: TNP Corporation/Strike Fraction
Calibre: 5x30 disc
Safety: Safe/Semi/Shotgun
Sights: 2:1 pillar iron sights (2x reflex fitted over rear sights)

The Vigil fires self-stabilizing discs at high velocity from a mechanical/spring launch system. There are a variety of disk types available, making this weapon's combination of (relative) silence and multipurpose projectile extremely useful for covert operations.

Launch system:
The firing method is relatively simple: a hammer strikes a sabot around the rear rim of the disc, providing the velocity. A protrusion in the sabot catches a matching protrusion on one of the guide rails, providing spin, then, having been spun around to the other side, catches a second protrusion and falls away. This results in a speed drop, but this is compensated for by mechanical gyrotors (gyroscopic rotors) built into the disc.
The centre of the handguard is open (the guard is split down the middle) to a series of small fans, which provide an updraught to help start the gyrotors.

The KA-2288d variant replaces the fans with a limited rail-acceleration system.
The shotgun fire mode launches a full stack of 5 discs simultaneously. This causes some conflict in the airflow as multiple discs spin up at once, which can result in discs being launched at angles they cannot fully correct for except over long ranges.

- Abrasive [gyrotors are powered to maintain spin after contact - disc edges are fitted with chainglass blades]
- Guided [guidance fins deploy after barrel exit - often fitted with explosive or recon payloads]
Unpowered
- Explosive
- Shuriken [chainglass blades - sometimes fitted with explosive or recon payloads]
- ECM [several variants - most popular include radio jammers and chaff dispensers]
- Scanner [fitted with a radar or other area-scan system]
- Beacon [fitted with a flare, radio transmitter, or smoke dispenser]
- Relay [fitted with a communications relay]

Can I ask, what do you think of my caseless rifle so far?

pretty darned awesome and far mroe detaield than i ever bothered with. The only thing I might question is keeping the ACR's system where the chamber tays down and unlaoded until the trigger is pulled. i cna see why you woudl do it (cooling and gas disapation) but perosnally i would prefer the mechanism to return to a "closed" position.

I chose to keep the chamber staying down as much for the purpose of keeping the chamber empty until you pull the trigger as anything, which helps prevent cook off with my particular type of round. Accuracy will probably be effected to a certain degree, but this isn't exactly a super precise weapon .
