Very plausible.

It is overrated and not very efficient however. It is optimized for combat at ranges where it very rarely occurs (Afghanistan being the exception). Even the 7.62x39 M43 and 5.56 M855A1 cartridges are more efficient IMO.

Those are 5.54 bullets made for that underwater firing AK. The long bullet is required to stabilize the round when firing under water.

Picture one of those spear-headed cartridges, but with a "spike" for the rear of the warhead (increase it's size a wee bit as well, maybe 7mm mauser?). A close quarters take on it. Now, have a four-barreled drilling chambered for said "altered cartridge", then use it in close quarters. Proceed to watch the effect of skewering and slicing your enemies in close quarters engagements (should this whole cockamamie idea work, and should you hit what you're aiming at)
