When the 1st republic was founded. The last name Kansu originally was given to former slaves who re-gained their freedom when the republic was founded.

Slavery never actually developed in Russo-Spanish society; we've never believed in the idea of keeping men in chains, never sat right with our morality.

Officially slavery was abolished in 1963, with the formation of the Radiatian People's Socialist Union, although in practice most people became enslaved by the totalitarian government.

However it wasn't until 1992 that Radiatia really ended slavery, with slavery being constitutionally prohibited as well as finally ended in practice, with the exception of a few isolated and highly illegal cases.

Well, some of the primitive tribes of our ancestors practices slavery. Mostly the nastier warrior tribes that decided that slave trading was great for cheap labour and intimidating the other tribes.

However, one of the good things the Europeans gave us when they temporarily ruled us were the ideas of classical liberalism that came trickling in around 1830 AD. Following our uprising and overthrowing of European rule in 1833 AD, which was partially motivated by classical liberal rhetoric, we decided to abolish slavery thanks to the aforementioned motivations and some clever folks pointing out how hypocritical it would be to overthrow the European magistrates in the cause of freedom, yet participating a process that made men into little more than chattel.

Since then, we've abhorred slavery; especially when the Socialists took over (in odd contrast to when Socialists took over in Radiatia). As the national motto says "Freedom to all working people!" even slavers and slave-owners. They're freed from their mortal coils when we gun them down.

It has been treated as immoral since time immemorial.

That being said, the technical legitimisation of slavery occured after the collapse of the government, since there is no central authority to pass a law enacting the ban on slavery anymore.
Now mostly a politik discuss account.

We have never had slavery. The idea that one person could "own" another one has been preposterous to us since day 1. (If you need a date, our current Constitution was ratified in 1543.)

Slavery, already illegal in most of the kingdoms that would make-up Avaerilon, was officially banned when the kingdoms unified into one nation. Before then, there had been sporadic slavery in parts of Dunaemair, and it was quite common in Morrowind. We are proud to have never had slavery as a unified nation.

Slavery has never been prevalent in the Principality of Romberg, but was finally abolished on paper in the 1930s. Since then, the Principality of Romberg has actively opposed slavery and conducted military operations directed at freeing slaves within its own borders.

Though the institution of slavery was never established here, all forms of slavery, including indenture servitude (which was legal at the time) was banned in the year 1804.

Going back in history, there was a rare example of a form of slavery, where a victorious warlord may take an enamy as a warrior slave. There was normally a limit on the number of battles these slaves would fight, usually around ten, before they where set free, if they lived that long. There are only 1000 examples of this happening over a 1500 year period, and the last recorded instance of this was over 1000 years ago, around the same time as the Catholic church was established in this nation.

Nobody knows for sure. It just died out over time; though in the eyes of countries who can afford to be more civilized many of our workers aren't much different from "free slaves".
