"The best victory is brief. The best soldier is a lazy one."

Enataian military philosophy is strongly influenced by Taoist ('Harmonist' in Enataian terms) teachings about how best to conduct one's business and how best to treat war. "The best victory is brief" refers to the ideology of quickly getting into battle, taking care of things as efficiently and quickly as possible, and once the goal is achieved and things are cleaned up, getting out as quickly as you came in. It is considered an extreme waste and a serious injustice to prolong a war or conflict for any reason unless it is absolutely necessary, and excessive punishments or sticking around to turn the conquered country into a colony or expansion of your own nation is seen as both wrong and foolish.

"The best soldier is a lazy one" is not a literal phrase, but instead it is analogous to "the best mathematician is a lazy one," which is (OOC a real saying) referring to the efficiency of taking the shortest/most efficient possible route to a correct answer. Enataian soldiers are not expected to hang around or interfere with the country they are running; they are there to kill certain people who have done certain things bad enough to merit it. A "lazy soldier," then, is one who has the mindset of getting in, doing his job, and then getting out the moment his job is done, with no expectation of thanks or gratitude, because he is simply doing his job and nothing more than that. Sticking around or getting too immersed in war is considered a recipe for disaster, mismanagement, and human rights abuses, and is considered degrading and demeaning to the people of the other country, who very likely didn't exactly ask to be invaded.

In accordance with Taoist thought, Sun Tzu's "The Art of War" as a text is also required reading for every member of the military, at every level. Far from being a manual for corporate success (although the same principles apply to corporate success as they do to all success in general), it is seen as the basic instruction manual for how to conduct the most ethical warfare possible. At the request of King Alexander, the phrase "There is no instance of a country having benefited from prolonged warfare" (Part 6, Chapter 2) is highlighted in the required pocket copy of The Art of War. Other passages are highlighted as well, but this point is seriously emphasized.

Among rejistanian troops "Better once a coward than always dead" is common.

In a battlefield, each person must rely on other to have their backs if needed. Every person must trust guy standing next to him to follow orders and hold their position until told otherwise regardless of how hopeless situation appears; until a commanding officer orders withdrawal, every person must be relied upon to stand there in face of superior enemy and fire their guns.
Once someone breaks ranks and runs (or surrenders) without order from a commanding officer, they have broken that trust and can never be relied upon again. A coward is worst than useless, it is a liability while dead are just useless.

One of the most important, and official, sayings in TurtleShroomer warfare is John 15:13.
Holy Bible wrote:"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends."

Here is some classic TurtleShroomer military wisdom:
  • Turning a country into your colony only breeds revolutionaries.
  • Annexing a country only makes the enemy come from within.
  • Fight like you do not fear death, because you know where you're going.
  • The enemy can break your bones, take your life, and dishonor all you know, but Jesus will always have your soul.
  • If you can't fight on the battlefield, then fight on your knees.
  • Do not mourn those who have died. They are in a place of peace. You who survive them, make peace.
  • No desired amount of money should prolong a war.
  • Start it like thunder, end it like lightning.
  • There is no mercy like the atomic bomb, for nothing else can end a war immediately. For but ten thousand deaths at its hand effectively means ten million deaths to the enemy. None expedites peace like splitting atoms, nothing splits a war's length like splitting atoms.
  • As a soldier, you go to war to make peace. Therefore, do only what must be done and kill what must be killed. Never stick around.
  • Show mercy to civilians, because should they become soldiers, you'll wish you did.
  • War is for defense.
  • No cause is truly great enough to wage war without just cause.
  • Even when a soldier is alone, Jesus is still fighting by his side.
  • The best soldier is the soldier that only has to sit and clean his gun. (This saying is a bit difficult, but it essentially means that it is better to be at peace than at war. A soldier that just cleans his gun in peace time, it is saying, is doing the best thing there is: peace.)
  • When at peace, seek no war, but if they bring war, seek their destruction.
  • Whenever you can, live at peace with one-another.
  • You're going home whether you live or die, so why fear death?

Then, there's just sayings.
  • Onward, Christian soldiers!
  • Duck!
  • Fire at will!
  • You can do it!
  • Nukemnukemnukemnukemnukemnukem
  • Kneel to the Lord, punk!
  • I believe in you!
  • Eat lead!
  • Nukemnukemnukemnukemnukemnukem
  • Our tactics are called 'guerilla warfare', and rightly so. Who here would want to fight a gorilla?
  • That gun's not big enough.
  • YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH
  • I don't know what that is, but shoot it anyway.
  • Picture that the enemy is a horse. Now, put 'em down!
  • RIP HIS SAUSAGES OFF
  • Don't worry, the state will cover every funeral and medical expense!
  • Nukemnukemnukemnukemnukemnukem
  • WHAT PART OF 'THOU SHALT NOT STEAL' DON'T YOU GET?
  • The only time those meals aren't ready to eat is if they're moving.

'Keep you head down' is a popular one in the Awesome Army.

The Former Holy Geneva Armed Forces are know considered a sister organisation and often say 'UN merde' (This worked better before the WA name change).

"Better Dead Than Red." but with a 10% communist military it is falling in popularity.

"For God and the Motherland!" - Our most popular military battle cry. It also happens to be our national motto.

"There is no such thing as overkill."

"The purpose of war is not to die for your country. It is to make your enemy die for his."

"No plan ever survives first contact with the enemy."

"Courage is not the absence of fear. It is the ability to master your fear."

While, there are many many many sayings, phrases, witticisms, etc... Within and about the Royal Commonwealth Defence Forces, the two most important ones probably being, first the Oath every soldier, airman, sailor and guardsman takes upon being first officially inducted into the armed forces.

The Oath: "I pledge to faithfully serve and defend the ideas and principles thereby ordained within the Constitution of the Commonwealth against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true allegiance to those same ideas and principles; that I take this oath of obligation freely, without any mental reservations; that I will bravely and without question protect and safeguard the freedoms granted to all Commonwealth citizens, so help me God."

With the second one being the Creed of values & standards every enlisted person is required to and fully expected to live up to.

Soldiers Creed
I am a Soldier of the Commonwealth.
I am a Warrior & Defender serving the citizens of the Commonwealth and living its values.
I will always place the mission first before any other considerations.
I will never accept or admit defeat.
I will never quit nor surrender.
I will never leave a fallen comrade behind.
I will uphold the soldierly values of Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selflessness, Integrity and Courage.
Foremost above all else I will always bring honor to my brothers and sisters.

I am disciplined and trained, mentally & physical for the tasks & duties that lay before me.
I will always maintain my equipment and myself to the highest standards.
I am a professional and a specialist proficient in my Warrior abilities.
I stand ready to faithfully serve the Commonwealth against all enemies.
To deploy, engage and annihilate those enemy forces who would threaten the Commonwealth.
I am a Guardian of the Commonwealth and its way of life.
I am a Soldier of the Commonwealth!
