To be more precise, we have very few technological gaps and those that may exist will usually be rectified the moment we are informed of them. However, note that we do not have perfect technology in all fields, merely that we have at least some rudimentary understanding of most of the ones we can think of. Most forms of technology simply aren't fun enough for us. Like laser weapon, it's boring to shoot a silent and invisible beam at someone and artificially added sounds and color is too tedious. Instead, we use nanomunitions that expand upon penetrating the enemy's armor, or alternatively use more exotic weapons if it's a real fight and not just some sport. What said exotic weapons would be exactly, will not be revealed because that ruins the surprise. And everyone loves surprises, even if they pretend they don't. And if they really don't, we'll just shoot them.

The funny thing about that though is there is so much junk science and hand waving for even mt-nations that is kind of sad.
Just reading how most think their stuff works is an assault on real science, something mt is just as bad if not worse than ft at doing.
