What are the hivemind's thoughts on a weapon designated the WA2001? Its literally a pirated WA2000 with polymer hardware, chambered in .303 British and used on a squad level thanks to CNC machining and reduced quality control. Its whole purpose is to bolster the massed fire from my Tigers with some very accurate shots. It would be able to take the standard Tiger 20 round magazine to ensure that ammunition is always plentiful.

(that sh*t generates a fucktonne of heat, it would be a good powersource, but safe handling porcedures present a problem) This solution is also close to my heart, being a true chemist's gun.
Mortar teams would probably ride in jeep like vehicles,so I need a heavy variant which is still foot transportable ICE, and a light version for dedicated dismounted usage. And a 3rd variant for IFV style vehicles.

* +1 point for being a true economic greenpeace gun.Waste producte is NaOH which is reusable as a chemical weapon.
Drain waste, load into an empty shell, watch them burn.

If something is dangerous to handle in peacetime, it's going to be a horrible idea on the battlefield. As for the pneumatic part, I'm pretty much just as lost as you are. I suspect you will need a compressor of some kind. You could try using pre-compressed launching fuel, like a CO2 canister, but I feel like the sheer volume of gas needed to propel a proper mortar round would make each one at least the size of a two-liter bottle, if not a 105mm howitzer shell.

That is my issue. I know the capacity would be several shots, but I don't know how many exactly. As of quicklime, not really dangerous just needs to be isolated from water. A metal/plastic canisters with rationed amounts would do well. Problems arise if the stuff is deliberately mishandled or if cannisters are shot open. If its rationed, only the idiocy issue remains. Anyone with a notion of how idiotproof stuff meant for for well trained soldiers must be?
......................
Compressors are likely to be heavy so they reduce ammo weight severely and they need fuel(gasoline/diesel) which is also dangerous, and adds further weight.Thats why the quicklime idea is more sympathetic as-of-yet.

Seems practical not going to replace my SVDK though I have been corrupted by Puzikas on that matter. Cost is still going to be a pain though, I mean there is little way to reduce the Cost of the Wa2000 without extensive automation or slave labor.

Tanks could be precharged with the pump of course, but the achievable pressures are limited, which limits range and shot capacity.
It isn't good to carry around a huge-ass tank for only 4-5 shots, low range and slow refill. Those stuff had a range of around 300meters according o the scarce data I found and thats sorta lol for an NLOS weapon. But it is surely the simplest and most reliable solution.

*See Howel Projector, it was a pneumatic mortar/ AA cannon useful (limtedly though) against low flying aircraft. Its reach wasn't great , it could be used against aircraft flying no higher than 200m, but it had decent ROF and it was reputed to have great psychological effect. They are also cheap, as they save gunpowder.

I understand the benefit I just think it would be easier to include a pressurized tank along with the round itself And just extract the used tank (look at the cheap Co2 cylinders used in BB and airsoft) this would make it much easier to use and allow a higher rate of fire. as for my previous comment I just love the idea of a bunch of soldiers using a potato cannon that could have been designed by a 6-year old.

What's with the sudden influx of nations using the WA2000 in the past few pages? It was too expensive and not durable enough for military use, so you may want something else.

It would be Lift's OCD involving the number 2000 and yes I agree it's fragile and well for it's price I could buy about 6 Tigr-9's and that's retail.

No...no it's not it's terrible to compare against the M16 the M16 is an assault riffle the Mp5 is a SMG. A 9x19mm is not comparable to the 5.56x45mm it doesn't work. (when i compared the Hk33 and the Mp5 it was just preference not performance)

ROF and weight would be better with one tank, you need a buffer chamber right behind the round, which means that air from individual canisters should first be fed in the buffer. More canisters would also mean more metal, and thus more weight, than one large tank.
Otherwise I know it is simpler to bring along prefilled air/CO2 but I don't know whether it is possible to carry propellant enough for decent amount of shots on foot. More canisters would mean safer and easier handling though.
