I refuse to mess with the headache that AK mags can be. Also, for Kursk Concord members, once this model is done, I can just send you this paint file and then YOU! can add your own caliber-appropriate magazines and for whatever length you want. I guess.

Also, again, this is basically just a template: my IC gas adjustment system and the potential brake/hider Puzikas and I discussed earlier today may be added to the weapon.

Anyway:

Better?

EDIT: I think I will try to work on the ass-end of the stock a tiny bit more.

Take the magazine out. Retract bolt. Hit rifle repeatedly until it falls out. If that fails dissemble it.

Misfired rounds for one. Or rounds that you chambered and figured out you didn't need or want to chamber.

That's a good point. Without an ejection port, if you wanted to manually remove a round you'd have to remove the magazine and then pull the charging handle...

I seem to recall a wider variety of posters in older threads. Now it's pretty much just one out of ten or twelve regulars...

Overall, I wish folks like Nationalist Russia would come along more often. They tend to be what generates the discussion.

Excellent timing. Just had a discussion over the AK-12/ AK-10X/ AEK-971, what are the pros and cons of them between each other and the AK-74?

The AK12?
I gave trans a brief run down of it. While I never had any hands-on-experience, my buddy in the MVD did. Heres what he had to say.

The rifle offers a improvement of the Kalshnikov system in a way, but NOT in a huge way. The first models were finicky and plagued with issues. They failed to pass trials.
The NEW models, however, are much better. He thinks the issue was that Izmash was rushed by hopefuls. It offers an improved rate of accuracy and much smoother handling characteristics, something more of an east-meets-west mesh. He shot the 5.45x39, 7.62x39, 9x39, 12 gauge versions in depth. He felt the 12 gauge was "Unnecessary but welcome", due to the already purpose built Saiga-12. The 5.45 and 7.62x39 versions both were little to write home about, but the recoil on both in fully automatic fire was next to none. The 9x39 was his favorite, and he told me I would like that one the most of the lot, no doubt referring to my love of the AK-9.
He thinks the AK-12 will see its way into the hands of the MVD, FSB, and special forces by the middle of 2014. His review of it would lead me to think I would put it along the same lines of the BARS AKs and the AN-94, meaning somewhere from 75-85, maybe 90% Positive.
Now, that doesn't mean that the AK-12 is a "B" system at all. There are inherit flaws with every single rifle, and there always will be. I cant give any rifle I ever shot a 100. The closest belongs to the AK-103 (94) and the AEK-973S (92).
