Anyone know how I could further modernize my service rifle? It's the one at the top of the page.

No optics or other interchangeable doodads.

Side rails and a squared trigger guard are all I can think of right now. Maybe a more complicated grip, with one of those textured palm pad things?

Generally pretty well. In my time I spent freezing my ass off, the biggest issue I had was my DMs scope kept fogging up. This was at about -30-40 degrees centigrade mind you.

So a red dot or something similar wouldn't freeze up and have it's view obscured too often then?

Note that in the Fordy/Ulfr-Reich universe, normal cold is usually near-Arctic.

Does Siberian winter count? Because they worked at that point too, but I figures the -40 would be the most applicable.

Only the son of a silly person would use burst fire with a battle rifle. At long range you will miss every shot bar the first, and any closer and you'll want full auto. No in between exists with battle rifles as far as I'm concerned.

It can already use assault-capacity bullet clips.

I don't think that's too heretical. I'd do a textured grip and stuff, but that's beyond me for now, or maybe I'm just too lazy to learn.

I don't have experience with optics in extreme cold, but Aimpoints (at least the Comp M4 and the T1) are rated for -45C.

No huge advantage (though in this case you could merge it into the magwell for ~streamlining~), but that seems to be the aesthetic trend in Western-style modern rifles.

It's used on M249's, IIRC. M134 is the name of the optic, not the weapon.
