That is... exceedingly disappointing.

Would it be possible for another company to pick up their patents and workforce and continue the work? Some of the concepts were probably more than viable, especially considering the 3GL concept for the AusICW.

Oh, well that was easy. It's not like the military can't use them though right? Even if they are needless. It's not like it hinders the ability of the shooter's capabilities right? It would seem like the grip in shouldering a rifle like that might be awkward or uncomfortable. At least, that's how I imagine it...

The SVD has rocked a thumbhole stock for the entirety of its fifty-year service life, and that's still going strong.
It may not be great for a service rifle (it may partially hinder your ability to use it with a bayonet, and possibly make holding your rifle more cumbersome), but it definitely has its uses.

Don't rimmed cartridges and magazines not like each other?

The rifle and cartridges are also made privately by some master smiths. I would strongly advise against putting it into military service.

1) Bren LMG = 30 round rimmed magazine. (though a 10 rounder would be infinitely more appropriate for this round)
2) So? Make the designs, and we'd buy the DPR's for the mil-spec version off of you about 20,000x unit cost. I'm in a FanT region, and out current big bullet rifle is not big enough. :p

And triple as armor.
Also built like tanks. Typically considered reliable and robust, though less than ergonomic.

Are there such things as ergonomic magazines other than those that you can grip? Seems pointless to have have ones that could be considered ergonomic.

The way it works is like this:

Round fires, pressure pushes the casing & bolt backwards, like a normal blowback. Connected to the back of the bolt is a sort of disc, that is connected to a very long pistol that goes the length of the gun above the barrel. The disc rotates, pushing the piston forward. A powerful spring pushes the piston backwards when it's at its forwardmost point, which then rotates the disc the other way, pushing the bolt closed again. This simulates BARS, but without the drawbacks of a gas system.

Such a system could not reasonably work with weaker cartridges, but with the 10mm magnum cartridge the M57 was designed for, it should have more than enough power to move the disc and pison.

So...what's "ergonomic" about it's magazine other than being able to be held?

Advice: Imagine your hand holding the pistol grip. You hand should cover the entire grip apart from maybe a centimetre or two from the bottom. Now, with that pictured, could you fit your finger into the trigger guard and efficiently pull the trigger? If not, enlarge the trigger guard and move the trigger forward until their is room for a gloved finger, it is able to be pulled easily and you can comfortably rest your finger over it for when you're not shooting people, but will be soon.

This is my first piece of calmed advice to you. Heed it.
