We allow firearm ownership, even assault weapons, however, it is illegal for someone who is on the "blacklist" to own one, and if they are caught they face a five year prison sentence for the first offense, ten for the second, and twenty, the max in our country, for the third offense. What is the "blacklist"? It's a list of people who have committed violent crimes in the past, such as murder, rape, or assault with a deadly weapon.
