Your first rifle posted is an AK-74, late-1980s build. The Type-I bayonet (pre-AKM) you posted with it is also not even capable of attaching to that weapon. Secondly, the "AK-74u" does not exist, either: you have posted an AKS-74u, again, with incorrect bayonet, no buttstock, and the wrong rear sight assembly for that model of AK. Also, the "AK-47" never existed outside of Western military manuals.

AK-1, AK-2, AK (Type-I, Type-II, Type-III), AKM (AKMN, AKMS, AKMSN), AK-74 (AKS-74, AKS-74N, AKS-74u, AK-74M), AK-100-series: '101, '102, '103, '104, '105.

From our main military supplier, Norinco: the QBZ 95-1 improved assault rifle

Image
Here pictured including optional attachments, like the QLG-10A grenade-pistol, different scopes and a laser-attachment.

Chambered in the PLA-own 5.8x42 mm of course. We also have in service the marksman- and LMG-patters of the same weapons family.

...so, does the weapons-crowd here approve? So far have not read any thoughts on it in this thread. :)

I like the round. The rifle is a bit ugly though.
I thought ten thousand swords must have leaped from their scabbards to avenge even a look that threatened her with insult. But the age of chivalry is gone. That of sophisters, economists, and calculators has succeeded; and the glory of Europe is extinguished for ever.

I don't think I've seen all that many modern Chinese small arms on NS.
Sometimes I'm reading through military threads here, and I stop and think "What the hell is wrong with all of us?" But then I get on Facebook, and realize I'd rather be insane than an idiot.

Unless your army is made of Bonnie and Clyde, they're going to want a stock on that rifle.

Ironically your intentional attempt at gibberish makes more sense than the post in question.

The term AK47 is reserved for the test models of the weapon, while what is known as the AK47 is actually one of several hundred models, ranging in caliber from 7.62x39mm to 12gauge shotshell, but all sharing the same hardware (stocks, handguards).

There is a very interesting write up in this threads OP, that clearly explains this.

I can't see the image he posted because I'm at school, but if his AK-74 has a short barrel and no stock, then the designation "AK-74u" would be correct: the "s" in "AKs-74u" denotes a folding stock.

A stock would definitely be helpful, though, unless perhaps the weapon was intended to be maneuvered and/or fired from inside a vehicle.

It looks like a sawnoff AKM without any stock.

It has the AKS-74u everything, just with the stock removed. The side-folding rear-trunnion and folding push-button are still present. The 4.5mm hinge pin and triangle stock have been removed is all.

EDIT: Well, "AKS-74u everything" save for the standard AK rear sight block (impossibility) and even shorter upper handguard.

Also, a straight "AK-74u" would probably just be an AK-105 sans folding stock, replaced with a fixed stock... or with it since everything AK-74M and after ('100-series) has a folding stock with no "S" designation.

Through the manifold powers of flash 8, I am working on an Ulfran officer's sword. Think "type x" Nordic warsword. Very unfriendly, meant for chopping, cutting and a good ole' fashioned armor rending thrust/stab . The grandfather of the Norman broadsword actually (the type x is anyway).

For some reason I'm not a fan of bullpup guns outside of issuing them to the Navy and vehicle crews. I prefer traditional long guns.

1) just don't use it with that drum. Offset it to one side if a drum is used.

2) the P90 style action has existed in one form or another since 1949 ( http://www.google.com/patents/US2624241). The top mounted magazine was designed in '53 ( http://www.google.com/patents/US2773325 ).

USP wins. IMHO, once you have a decent cartridge, capacity is everything pistol wise. The USP also recoils nicely, due to the dual springs.
BY that logic I present you,the MOAP The mother of all pistols, and the two second greatest. In other words, the good, the bad and the fugly.
The GOOD: Shoots nice and straight trough armor,20 times if need be. Lethality is questionable though.

The BAD(-ASS) and the greatest, just not for me, due to my small hands. 15 rounds of .45 glory.

The FUGLY: but super. 15 rounds of.357sig perfection (I think it is close to being the perfect blend of power, ballistics and controllabilty) in, a well fugly, but proven package.
