For want of heavy equipment the platoons FOs could direct no HMGs.
For want of HMGs, the Archians had to rely on shitty fucking microcalibers.
For want of real weapons, they lost the war.

By my calculations its performance will be similar to the 9.3x64 round.
Were going to be using the same bullet as the three standard Russian service 9.3x64 rounds, SAP, AP, and FMJ.
To make up for its pants-on-head heavy weight of bullets, the systems weight will be 1.3kg less than the PKP, accomplishing this with lighter parts (Stock, handguard, grip to name a few). The recoil will be controlled via BARS system and an advanced muzzle break similar to the AN-94. It wall also dampen sound profile (Again, AN-94). Belts will be a lightweight material I am yet to determine.
Its also going to be a marksman round, 7SN2 series round. Ala SVDK.
I see. Well, I look forward to seeing it completed.
Quick question though. The marksman's rifle. Will it be an enlarged SVDK, or something altogether different?

6.8mm English (.280 British if you must) on an armalite platform would be my pick. I've never had a problem with my service AR or my personally owned one, and I'd rather the oomph and range of 6.8mm English over smaller cartridges, without the weight of .308/7.62
Support weapon at the squad level would be a minimi chambered for the same.
Weapons platoon can carry FNs GPMG (MAG40) in 8mmx57 and I would ensure that every gunner had two AGs to carry ammo, because that would be heavy as all heck to carry enough to matter for any real distance over rough terrain.
Service pistol would be one of Kimber's higher end 1911s chambered for .45 GAP instead of ACP to allow for a more comfortable grip.
Pros for rifle cartridges:
-Accuracy
-Range
-Stopping power
-8x57mm will go through things.
Cons:
-Combat doesn't happen at 500 yards too often
-HEAVY!
-8x57mm will go through things.
.45 GAP
Pro
-Ballistically identical to .45ACP
-Smaller than .45ACP
-Stops people and things effectively
Con
-Recoil if you haven't started puberty.

You do realized that .280 British is about as long as 7.62 NATO, and thus would need an AR-10 or FN MAG platform, correct? Don't get me wrong, it's a great cartridge, but it's battle-rifle sized, not intermediate.
For rifle rounds, 7mm is really the optimum. Things 8mm and above are only really good for long-range sniper or specialist cartridges (see .338 Lapua, 9.3x64mm). A 7mm round will have heaps better ballistics and very little sacrifice to penetration power.
If you want power and a more comfortable grip, 10mm Auto is more powerful and more accurate than .45 ACP or .45 GLOCK, and will give you more capacity in a thinner grip.

The "Beano posts something silly, people get mad and make fun, Beano posts something sillier, people get madder and harass, Beano posts something sillier, people get really mad" thing is getting old and annoying, so can we stop it before it starts?

No specific examples come to mind, because I have a terrible memory.
But!
Today's conversation about the aiming sights was that kind of no-go area.
And also, 'Mess Webley' is in-joke for 'kill yourself'. That's just poor behaiviour, guys. You don't tell someone to kill themself for making a bad design.
