Well, have you ever tried hiking with 1/4th your body weight in gear? Because I have. I wouldn't call it a fun experience. And that is your combat load. With only 48 rounds of ammunition (if you include a magazine in the gun its 64), no body armor, water, cleaning kit, pack, flashlight, radio or other gear that would be smart to include. (Like grenades)
No as to your earlier points:
1. "By posting in this thread you are open to criticism" Thats in the OP somewhere. You can make whatever choice you want, and I can criticize it.
3. It isn't the end of the world but it is a distinction that should be made.
5. Your weapon weighs more than the M60. The tells you that the weight is wonky.

1. True that
3. Has been made
5. it needs a makeover to get the right look... I'm getting that - and its a horrifically large beast
About the question about a 1/4 of my body weight - yes and a 10foot kayak - Two trips are for pussies
The list is only required items and yes water would be handy...
As for the number of rounds, they enforce trigger discipline.
As for grenades - that's the point, they don't get grenades or a radios and flashlights make you visible in the dark.
Some one mentioned the low quality of the food, well once again not my problem.

1. .338 Lapua is an expensive-ass, match grade sniper cartridge. You should be using an intermediate.
2. Fucking no. That is a magazine.
3. Those ranges are bull for the .338
4. Literally no way it's that heavy.
5. Why are you going from polymer to wood? That's like replacing modern MBTs with WWII medium tanks.
6. Stock and pistol grip are overlapping.
7. Stock is preventing the receiver cover from being removed.
8. The SVD's receiver cover is not stable enough for sights or optics.
9. That is not how STANAG-pattern mags work.
10. Those magazines are way too short for .338 Lapua
11. Those foreends are overlapping your receiver in a manner which doesn't work.
12. The stock on the second model just needs to go. I can't even being to explain what's wrong here
13. The pistol grip and fire control unit on the third model would change the workings so much that it would effectively be a separate weapon."
1. I said "Based off the Lapua" not "Uses the Lapua"
2. second person to say that
3. once again "Based off the Lapua" not "Uses the Lapua"
4. PMG has no way to "Beef" up a gun to express the sheer weight
5. We were afraid the reduction in weight on the .330 would make the soldiers lazy
6. chill - its not the worst mistake one can make
7. Not my problem (but the guy who has to clean it...)
8. Based off the SVD, its no doubt been altered by the designers
9. they look like STANAGs, once again... They aren't STANAGs
10. I said "Based off the Lapua" not "Uses the Lapua"
11. I can't even figure out where the problem is
12. Its the best I could do on PMG, its two sheets of 1/4inch steel welded to a butt plate and bolted to the standard stock mounts
13. Ever heard of an E-Trigger? Its the same unit, but with a battery powered trigger for full-auto

I can guarantee there were defects. There are defective products in any mass produced run. What makes it seem more noticeable with the PMAGs is that they're being purchased by civilians, rather than the military which usually weeds out defective hardware, and then shuts up about it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but most steel AK mags in the US are surplus, yes? In which case the defective ones would have been weeded out by the military that used them before they hit the market.

I have gotten AK magazines that have gone through various conflicts in Serbia that run perfectly fine. They have 0% of their original finish left, have floor plates bent to where they barely contact the magazine body itself, have dents in the sides of them, and some battlefield-mods applied with a welding torch of some kind.
No problems with 'em.
