OOCly, it started out life as a name for a fictional FT spacefaring civilisation, the "Maltropian Interstellar Confederacy", but when I found that my preferred PT name was taken (the Kingdom of Espin, which I have since reclaimed) I went with Maltropia as the most plausible-sounding.

[Gulf Empire]

There is much debate about the exact derivation of the name for the Gulf Empire. We have submitted to you the three most likely theories.

1): The Gulf Empire is named after the Great Unified League of Fear (GULF) which founded in the US and focused and creating a massive worldwide empire. Was the primary political power for the Gulf Empire until Chancellor DesJarlais abolished it after his ascension to power.

2): The Gulf Empire was named Gulf because their founders admired the Nazi Party and were looking for a catchy title for their own regime. They settled upon Gulf for an unknown reason.

3): The Gulf Empire is named Gulf because "gulf" is thought to have meant to surround by its founders and they intended their empire to totally engulf every other nation. Engulf means to surround or swallow but to them, it meant En (To Make)-Gulf .

[Frozen]

Frozen is named Frozen [OOC] because I totally thought my original name owul be The Frozen Empire.
It was in fact The empire of Frozen.

I totally ran with it and IC it is named Frozen despite it's mild enviroment because an explorer mistranslated the name when bringing engish to the nation.
It is believed we were going to call it Lunia but the people embrace their identity with patriotism.
