Used to be legal up to vaguely-defined "viability" (after which the neonatal fetus could be surgically removed, incubated and put up for adoption). When medical technology advanced to the point where a fetus could reliably be incubated in vitro from a very early stage, things got a bit muddled legally.
It's now unconditionally legal up to about week 20. After that an evaluation on viability and other circumstances is required, depending on which the fetus may either be aborted or incubated in vitro, after which it will be either put up for adoption or be raised by the state.
