All business are owned by government. That's why we don't have that problem.

we have laws that protect small business and keep monopolies from forming. other than that, the private sector is pretty much free

Corrupt businesses are nationalized, but thanks to most private businesses being Cooperatives, corruption is rare.

Corrupt businesses are considered one of the banes of society, and are strongly frowned up. The TBRE is only recently embracing the capitalist path, and businesses are still viewed with some suspicion. Corruption is rare, due to self and state regulation, and a strong sense of ethics here.

A business that is known for cheating their customers will be shut down by the King's Government and fined. The King wants to ensure that there is no profit whatsoever in cheating customers. Foreign businesses that want to operate in Saintland must request permission from the King's Government and permission will be denied to businesses with a reputation for producing awful products.

Certain industries are owned and operated by the government, such as the communications industry, but private business is mostly legal in the Kingdom. Private businesses are, however, required to come to a mutually beneficial agreement with the guild relevant to their industry.

Our country is fairly liberal in it's capitalism practices. Integrity and a lack of corruption are part of the cornerstone of Theopanias, so corrupted companies suffer some negative sanctions placed on them regarding their relationship with the government.

My nation would let society handle that.

Here there are no laws against the use of addictive substances, however any product that has such a substance in them must disclose this clearly on the packaging.

If it is found that this drink does contain such a substance without disclosure then the company would be charged with non-disclosure of an addictive substance. If convicted then any profit made by the company with regards to the drink would be reclaimed under the Proceeds of Crime Act. Also if it contains a controlled substance (one that may only be sold in a licensed pharmacist) then they could be fined £1000 per item sold in a non licensed shop. This applies to the manufacturer as it's a non-disclosure offence.

If a member of staff of the Food Standards Agency has been bribed then the Directors responsible and members of staff of the FSA shall be charged with Corruption. If convicted they may be imprisoned up to life and an unlimited fine.

Corrupt businesses are force-ably dissolved, and have their leadership imprisoned or executed, depending on the severity of the crime.

Obviously, the Macropodine Consumer Union would ensure honest packaging and labelling of any such products, so normally, companies make the contents of their product clear on the packaging. Where this is not the case, what usually happens is that angry customers write letters to the Macropodine Consumer Union to address this issue. A spokesperson of said company will discuss the dispute with the Consumer Union spokesperson and come to an agreement on the company's liability.

The normal course is that the company will agree on letting the Macropodine Food and Drug Safety Department perform an inspection, and where research proves positive results of the substance being present in their product, they will have to alter the packaging to become more honest to avoid getting into a lawsuit with the Macropodine Consumer Union. The company will also have to give all the affected customers a reasonable renumeration as has been agreed upon between that company and the Consumer Union.

If the addictive substance is illicit, though, then a criminal trial will be held. The company will have to pay a hefty fine and the executives responsible could face jail sentences.

The offending corporation would be investigated. If it was determined that the company honestly did not know of the presence of these substances in their product, the guilty parties, directors and executives would be jailed and the business fined; if they did know, the company would be involuntarily dissolved, the directors/executives arrested and tried for fraud, and the rank-and-file employees given severance packages.
In Elizio, we believe corporations are people—enough to execute them!

If they break the law or threaten the overal stability of the Koussathiann economy and Financial system, they are fined extensively, and possibly broken up as a company. Leadership is investigated for crimes seperate from the company as a whole, and can be fined, jailed or executed as needed.
Koussathian views and my views are not nessesarily the same thing. I play Koussath as a rather evil country in many ways. I am not evil. Unless stated in an OOC manner, do not assume the player behind Koussath thinks what Koussath thinks.

Businesses that show signs of harming customers' or workers' interests or the interests of the national economy tend to find themselves being forcibly nationalized.

the fact that they supply substandard clothing would have had them run out of the nation and their assets seized long before they had the chance to produce an energy drink containing addictive substances which would result (if proven true) with those responsible being sent to jail for a long time, the company being siezed by the nation and it's assets put to the best use of the public

Businesses are required to abstain from damaging or modifying the environment, intentionally or otherwise, but as for marketing tactics, and just about every other aspect of running a business, all's fair. Putting addictive substances in a drink would be perfectly legal, as would psychological manipulation of potential customers, organized theft, and assassinating the heads of rival corporations. The market is truly laissez-faire; we would be surprised if people DIDN'T try to take advantage of it.

like any other criminal situation. in cameroi, "bussiness" is NOT an excuse for criminal activity.

Sometimes they get caught. But often they just get away with it; getting friendly with whichever party wins the election usually helps. The government has enough time dealing with internal corruption, never mind other people's corruption.
