Well, from a manner of perspective, one could consider our Reptilian majority terrifying. Of course, we're usually quite amused by such views.

There is also our morally-questionable actions and policies, though we believe them to be quite justified. Our wildlife can also be really terrifying, as it has claimed many an unsuspecting tourist. Certain foreigners would also probably find our partial social conservatism and adherence to family values to be terrifying.

So yeah, I guess that's it...

Most humans don't find the totalitarian aspects of the Imperium very appealing for some reason - omnipresent police and surveillance, incessant warmongering propaganda and extreme xenophobia of the general population as the result.

The Sidh supremacist attitude. The average Sidh feels like it is his god-given right to take whatever possessions of yours he fancies and rape your daughter if he finds her handsome, and to savagely murder you and the rest of your family if you try to do anything about it. Most of them wont, of course, bother with you - being a ghetto-dwelling human, you are most likely too poor and pathetic to be of interest to Sidhae to begin with, but the fact is there - humans and aliens have absolutely no protection against Sidh depredations, should they feel like it.

Being a non-Sidh subject of the Imperium is bad. Being a non-Sidh enemy of the Imperium is even worse. Ever heard of the Alpha Legion? They are lads who easily put Nazi einsatzgruppen and Soviet NKVD to shame. While the Alpha Legion is clearly the nastiest, they're by no means the only Imperial legion with a reputation of brutality considered extreme even by Sidh standards. When you see them coming, either put up a white flag without firing a shot and hope they will be in a good mood, or better, leg it and hope they don't have anything fast enough to catch you.

Even if you are a Sidh, your life is still very grimdark. You don't own even your body, you exist to serve the Imperium, you are constantly reminded of it as well as the inevitable death that awaits you and everyone you know, and when that death eventually comes, it's most likely of the very painful and horrifying variety at the hands of alien invaders, unless you've been lucky/smart and died in an accident/suicide before that happens. So no wonder you hold your life and the lives of others in such little regard.

Rakktor used to be a nice place. After a couple consecutive apocalypses, it's hell on terra. While we've been pushing back and making advances, the Great Wastes still churn out nightmares that warp the fabric of reality simply by existing. Our population is all military, with mandatory augumentations upon conscription, and generations of super soldiers behind their genetics. Our cities are fortresses and bunkers, networked across underground tunnels all across the island, and one full fifth of our population is horrifying non-humanoids that, while we coexist, we cannot truly understand on a fundamental level. Our allies have abandoned us, and even in the empty void of space and the infinite realities of the multiverse can we hide from the monsters that have hunted us for millennia.

Our soldiers can take tank rounds to the face, wield eldritch powers with great ease, and throw tanks like they are toys. Yet they die by the hundreds against even the weakest of our foes and it is hailed as a victory with minimal casualties.

The people of Rakktor no longer worship gods. Instead, they spit at their mention, spurning them.

The entire heartland is nuclear waste and desimated by over 3 centuries of civilwar, invasions occupations and being used as a nuclear test site by other nations.

The people in Alidina are discribed commonly discribed as starved wolves, lean, ragged, feral and starved looking people who hold deep resentment of the rest of the world.

Each and every citizen has been trained to fight in wars and the entire nation can technically be called to serve front line duty.

Every man in Alidina is armed.

Police forces carry full body armor and high powered rifles while they patrol the streets.

Alidina has no public beaches, every square inch is covered in razor wire, land mines, machinegun mounts, radar arrays, Retaining walls, SAMs and LSM sites and military bases Dday defenders would feel jelous.

Every man in Alidina wants revenge.

Alidina cant claim to be hell but they have gone though hell and back and now they are ready to rule again but the "white knight" empire of old is gone the fallen angel empire is here and it wants blood.

We actively condition brainwash every one of our citizens from birth until they become young adults. If they go wrong, even more so after that. That said, because our programs are so effective, very very little is actually illegal! Isn't that just great?

The entire nation of North Korasia is terrifying. We are ranked among the top 1% in the world for Most Authoritarian and top 5% in the world for Most Extreme. Tourists beware.

The horrifying things about Azurand?

• We're an authoritarian, pseudo-fascist, Islamist state, which means prioritize the State, the God, and the Wealth over the people's civil rights.
• Our religious police, since 1999, have the authority to arrest and execute people without any trials, despite when a person who executed is proven innocent, the police that conducted that execution would also be executed, too.
• At three western Imarahs, people are somewhat xenophobic and uphold laissez-faire Capitalism, aka the Corrupt Corporate Executives. They also invididualists and somewhat more unfriendly than other Imarahs at Azurand.
• The wildlife, aside from western Imarahs wich absolutely have no wildlifes (except some mutant birds or escaped mechanical arms) is very wild and dangerous, with many unnamed creatures that just like to eat human flesh. It isn't recommended to go on northern steppes or Sungai Puas Jungle, as it'd likely you ended with your head ripped off.

Well for a start our laws only concern registered citizens and legal temporary residents (diplomats and tourists with special permits). Everyone else is outside the law in terms that they are not protected by it and are considered criminals if caught. And this particular kind of criminal tends to disappear without a trace.

Than there are the designated tourist zones. By them self they are good and fun things. But venture outside of them and suddenly no one will talk to you unless you can speak Purpelian, all signs and street names are only Purpelian and no one will accept your foreign money. And no, Purpelia does not have any exchange offices.

The scariest part thou are the toilets. All Purpelian public toilets are of the open roman type with no separation between male or female and without stalls. Everyone sits together in a large open room chatting and going about their business. And that is the #1 thing tourists coming to Purpelia report as being scary and uncomfortable. Nothing is as scary as having to hold it in for hours going from one establishment to another and having to become a paying customer to access the toilet only to find it is another open one that your barbarian morality won't let you use comfortably.

The Nanomechanical Empire is known for having many elements that invoke fear in people. Ironically, many of these things are actually good. Among them include their military, their international dealings, and their assimilation tactics- which to this day has never been successfully countered. Another terrifying but equally annoying aspect is how the nation is a prototype of a Mary Sue-esque utopia, making it subject to loads of wanking. Especially techwanking.

The Sskiss themselves can be considered a terrifying aspect in there own right. Primordial and remorseless, their raw physical presence is truly frightening.

The fact that there are daily mass executions in our nation. It is not uncommon to see "professional squads" executing people on the streets. Piles of bodies waiting to be removed can be seen, along with a great, stinky smell, and blood all around the streets.

What are some terrifying/frightening aspects of your nation, in the form of places, objects, creatures (real or imaginary), etc?
We eat any form of edible meat. Including humans or similar.
We have a tradition of taking trophies during wartime - usually the heads of enemies killed with melee weapons.
Our main prison is a gigantic concrete and steel fortress in the middle of the sea enclosed by the rest of our landmass, where outside temperatures are usually around -40 to -50°C.

Wildlife. Megalodon is our national fish; it doesn't get any better on land.

Taking trophies in combat, whether it's wartime or duels. The only form of censorship that is legal in Olwe is cutting someone's tongue out after you have defeated them in a duel (a common penalty for gossip or slander). Scalps are more commonly taken by our military.

Phyrexia, while terraformed to be a more hospitable environment and subject to Olwean law, is still, well, Phyrexia.

The traditional greeting. Many people think that the Olwean Kiss is far too likely to spread disease... in reality, the only communicable disease we haven't cured is lycanthropy, but that doesn't stop people from freaking out when total strangers start frenching them.

See above... we have werewolves. There are also many other nonhuman species that are considered fearsome living in Olwe, as well as the cute and cuddly Mogwai, who freak people out because of what they turn into if they eat after midnight.

Torture is used not to extract information, but as punishment for criminals. There's a lot to be afraid of if you break the law in Olwe, especially if you run (the Fugitive Recovery Squad are very good at what they do, and aren't exactly inclined to bring runners in in one piece).
