SECTION TWO:Colonial Fleet armament

Most of Colonial weaponry are projectile weapons, powered by either gunpowder or magnetic propulsion of the projectile. That which follows is a list of Colonial ship weaponry.

Name: Sephron Anti-Missile cannon
Barrel Length: 1-2.5 metres
Projectile type: HE tipped bullets
Rate of Fire: 600 rounds pre minute
The Sephron cannon was on of the first weapons used in space, and remains almost unchanged to this day. Nowadays this gun is used as a anti missile system, with the fire control and aiming tied to the ships sensors.

Name: Verken Anti-Ship cannons
Barrel length: 5 metres
Projectile Type: Magneticly propelled HE armour piecing charges
Rate of Fire: 150 rounds pre minute
The Verken cannon has one purpose in its life. Blow the living crap out of anything not heavily armour plated. Even then, it can still make your life a living hell if enough shells impact on your ship.

Name : Magneticly Accelerated Hydrogen Charge Cannon, or M.A.H.C Cannon
Barrel Length: 10 metres
Projectile Type: Magneticly launched Hydrogen Charge,
Rate of Fire: 60 rounds a minute.
The M.A.H.C Cannon is the main battle cannon in the Imperial Colony's fleet. The rounds it fires are designed to, once inside a atmosphere, release a large amount of hydrogen gas. About 2 seconds later a small explosive detonates, igniting the gas and causing a hull ripping explosion.

Name: Taragin Multiple Warhead Nuclear Missile
Missile Length: 23 metres
Warheads: Up to 12 high yield nuclear warheads, or up to 6 biochemical warheads
Speed: Mach 3
The Taragin is the main nuclear missile used by Battlestars and Auron Class frigates.

Name: Supernova Planet Cracker Nuclear Device
Missile Length: 28 metres
Warheads: up to 3 Thyrium-218 nuclear warheads
Speed: Mach 4
The Supernova is, put simply, a apocalypse in a can. The Thyrium-218 nuclear warheads are, when three are used in the missile, powerful enough to blow a third of a Earth sized planet to space dust. The planet's orbit then destabilises and spirals away from the system's star, freezing the surface within a few minutes.

SECTION THREE: Colonial Military Ships

Colonial ships are based around a few principals: The more guns the better, the more armour the better, and the bigger they are, the better. Due to lack of any form of energy shielding, Colonial ships use a combination of extremely dense metal alloy armour plating and an almost indestructible superstructure. Of course, over time the superstructure weakens to the point where the ship makes a FTL (Faster Then Light) jump, the superstructure cracks under the pressure. This massive failure of the superstructure is now known as 'breaking the back'. What follows is a somewhat lacking list of Colonial Fleet ships.

Name: Battleshuttle
Length: 60 metres
Engines: 2 sublight engines, short-range FTL drive
Crew: Anywhere from 5 to 15 people
Armament: 1 Twin M.A.H.C battery, 2 Verken cannons, 4 Sephron cannons.
Estimate number in service: 350
The Battleshuttle is, in Colonial terms, ancient. Its continued service is under question as it is the smallest ship in the Colonial Fleet. Mainly used as transport and for boarding actions.

Name: Derlis Class Frigate.
Image of Derlis class in orbit above Terrva
Length: 125 metres
Engines: 4 Sublight, mid-range FTL drive
Crew: 25-40 people
Armament: 5 Twin M.A.H.C battery's, 10 Verken cannons, 16 Sephron cannons
Estimated number in service: 280
The Derlis Class Frigate was, and still is, a extremely tough little vessel. These Frigates tend to work in packs, moving in groups of about 5-10 ships. They have two small hanger bays, each capable of holding four Falconite fighters. These ships can be outfitted with a very nasty weapon; an EMP device capable of frying all the electronics of a ship other 30 times its size.

Name: Auron Class Frigate.
An Auron Class in orbit above Aqutra
Length: 600 metres
Engines: 4 sublight, long range FTL drive
Crew: 250-400. Can be run on a skeleton crew of 100, but without most combat capacity
Armament: 50 Twin M.A.H.C battery's, 75 Verkan cannons, 120 Sephron cannons, up to 15 Falconite fighters.
Estimated number in service: 250
The Auron Class Frigate is most likely the most versatile Colonial Fleet ship. It can be used as a long range sensor platform, as a recon vessel. But for the most part the Auron Class is used as a companion ship to the Battlestars, normally with 2 or 3 Frigates pre Battlestar.

Name: Galactica Class Battlestar.
Galactica Class Battlestar in deep space.
Length: 2000 metres
Engines: 6 sublight, 2 long range FTL drives
Crew: approximately 8000
Armament: 100 Twin M.A.H.C batterys, 150 Verken cannons, 200 Sephron cannons, up to 100 Falconite fighters.
Estimated number in service: 100
The Galactica Class Battlestar was the first Battlestar class created, and is named after the first of their kind. Often called 'Buckets' by servicemen in the Fleet, these ships, though smaller then its younger brothers, are extremely tough, able to withstand assault from 3 Pegasus Class Battlestars.

Name: Pegasus Class Battlestar
Pegasus Class Battlestar in deep space
Length: 2400 metres
Engines: 8 sublight, 2 Long range FTL drives
Crew: approximately 8500
Armament: 125 Twin M.A.H.C batterys, 180 Verken cannons, 240 Sephron cannons, up to 200 Falconite fighters.
Estimated number in service: 90
The Pegasus Class Battlestar was the second class of Battlestar created, and like its older brother, was named after the first of its kind. Over time these Battlestars have become known as 'Beasts', because of the habit of the ship and their crews taking on more then 4 other Battlestars at one time and winning. These ships, athough larger then Galactica Classes, have roughly the same number of crewmen because of great automation of systems.

Name: Endeavour Class Battlestar
No image available at this time
Length: 2850 metres
Engines: 10 sublight, 2 long range FTL drives
Crew: approximately 10000
Armament: 160 Twin M.A.H.C batterys, 250 Verken cannons, 320 Sephron cannons, up to 280 Falconite fighters
Estimated number in service: 75
The Endeavour Class Battlestar is the most recent Battlestar class, only created about 70 years ago. These ships are often used as leaders of battlegroups, and as shock attackers. Relatively young by Battlestar standards, these ships are yet to truly prove themselves in combat.

Name: Falconite Space Fighter
Falconite Fighter on display at Fleet Command
Length: 8 metres
Engines: 3 sublight thrusters, RCS (reaction control system)
Crew: 1 pilot
Armament: 2 Sephron cannons mounted under the wings
Estimated number in service: Unknown, most likely in the 1000's
The Falconite fighter is the mainstay of the Fleet's fighter needs. Cheap to build, fast and agile and capable of firing anything from its two wing mounted Sephron cannons to missiles from the hardpoints located on the undersides of the wings, these fighters are not to be messed with.

SECTION THREE: The Colonies

The Colonies are the 8 planets that orbit the two stars in the Tarnia system, Tarnia Alpha and Tarnia Prime.

Name: Shadow
Orbits: Tarnia Alpha
Planetary position: 1st planet
Population: 1.2 billion
Shadow is a tropical planet, with large oceans and large numbers of islands. The planets main source of income is tourism, as tourists from the other Colonies arrive almost all year long. People from Shadow are often referred to as 'Shades'.

Name: Sarvana
Orbits: Tarnia Alpha
Planetary Position: 2nd planet
Population: 2.8 billion
Sarvana is a planet of little seasonal change, making it prefect for all year farming. The planets main source of income is the sale of food to the other planets who can't produce enough food for themselves.

Name: Terrva
Orbits: Tarnia Alpha
Planetary Position: 3rd planet
Population: 3 billion
Terrva is the Capital of the Colonies. It serves as a hub for trade, a seat of government, a hotbed of arts and crafts and is the home world of humanity as we know it. It was the first of the Colonies, and its the one with the most people living on it.

Name: Aurona
Orbits: Tarnia Alpha
Planetary Position: 4th planet
Population: 2.5 billion
Aurona is almost identical to Terrva. Relatively similar climates and land mass percentages mean that this planet is almost a home away from home for Terrvans. Ironically, it was the last of the Colonies to have a major city built on it. Historians have yet to work out why.

Name: Islandia
Orbits: Tarnia Alpha
Planetary Position: 5th planet
Population: 2.5 billion
Islandia is the industry capital of the Colonies. Its huge factories produce almost all of the cars, trucks, fighters and spacecraft that the Colonies need. Of course, this level of industrial activity has left its mark, with climate change a real threat to the planet as the planet has begun to warm.

Name: Magni
Orbits: Debated, currently classified as orbiting Tarnia Alpha
Planetary Position: Debated, commonly called the 6th Alpha planet
Population: 500 million
Magni is, put simply, a rock. What little atmosphere it once had was long gone by the time the first ships landed on its barren surface. In fact, the only reason for the 500 million miners and their families living in 5 atmospheric domes on the planets surface is the massive deposits of Thyrium and other minerals and metals in the planets crust. The proverbial gold needle in the haystack of dead planets.

Name: Ventra
Orbits: Tarnia Prime
Planetary Position: 1st planet
Population: 1.4 billion
Ventra is the first of the Prime Worlds, the two planets that orbit the systems second star, Tarnia Prime. Forever the outcast, Ventra has little power in the government, most of its people work on-world, with the few that get off world are normally in the military. Aside from that, the planet is a normal, inhabitable planet.

Name: Aqutra
Orbits: Tarnia Prime
Planetary Position: 2nd planet
Population: 800 million
Aqutra got is name from the fact that about 88% of the planets surface is water. The planet has no polar caps. Because of its position in the system, Aqutra receives light and heat from both stars at certain points of the year, resulting in a twilight time instead of night. The population of 800 million are clustered on a large group of islands near the planets south pole.

Haha, he's predicting the future! Wow.

Yootopia- "On a scale of one to hard, it's Ron Jeremy after 6 viagras."
Greater Americania- "I just want all of you to f*** off so I can go back to asserting myself over weaker nations"
Chumblywumbly-
"Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
If a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite irate."

There are people who claim populations over their gameplay populations. It's not popular, but people do it. You can just, you know, ignore him if you don't like that. As for me...

IC:

Official Inquiry of the Nivesky-Ringworld Foundation

Do the Imperial Colonies possess any inhabitable star systems they can sell us, or , barring that, coordinates for such systems that we can claim?

OOC: *yawn* I've had people bitching about my population since i was on Jolt. And i base my fleet off my NSG population. 1 ship pre 1000 people

IC:

REPLY TO: the Nivesky-Ringworld Foundation

We know of many systems in our sector of space, but only a few are inhabitable. Our home system is one, and the Cylon system, Serenity, is another. Apart from that, there are two other systems that can support life in the Star Desert.

OOC2: RP material?

OOC: There's perfectly nothing wrong with RPing a population larger than the gameplay one, provided sane limits on the size of your military.

Would you like to RP this elsewhere

IC:

Official NRWF Response

We would be interested in purchasing these two systems at 1 trillion dollars each.

REPLY TO NRWF:

The first system is yours, but the second is inhabited by Cylons with a small space fleet.

Orinon wrote:OOC: for some reason the Galactica Class picture doesn't work. oh well, everyone who hasn't lived under a rock for the last few years knows what the Battlestar Galactica looks like ;)

OOC: The reason its not appearing is because the website you're linking it from (the Battlestar Wiki it looks like) won't allow you to do so. What you're doing with your images is called "hot linking," and its generally frowned upon by websites. Excessive hot linking can chew up their bandwidth because their images are being displayed beyond the intended audience, causing traffic to increase. So many sites incorporate code that prevents linking directly like you're doing, or even sometimes replaces the image you want with one you don't want (replacing your Battlestar with an extremely graphic image of a carwreck, for example).

I suggest you look into hosting your own pictures on one of many free hosting sights, such as www.photobucket.com. All you need to do is save the original pictures from their home websites to your computer, create an account on a hosting website, and then upload the pictures from your harddrive to your account. Then you can link them wherever you please without broken links.
