Inspiration For Your Nation

When I was creating this nation, I took the Basque flag and rolled with it. For creating the finer aspects of Voxija's history and culture, I drew traits from many countries, including Mexico (a lot), American history (war for independence!), First American culture (mostly the Viñak), Switzerland (neutral), Nordic countries (socially progressive), NS issues (the Order of Violet, the UN being called the World Assembly), my own ideology, what I think is a utopia, and of course Australia. There are way too many inspirations to list here, since I just took what looked cool from history and mashed it into a culture soup.

I wanted to make a pagan nation that was culturally similar to Spain and Portugal and spoke a Romance language, because Germanic/Nordic pagan nations are a-dime-a-dozen now and too unoriginal for me. Add in some elements from the Harry Potter universe like magic, and a usually fair but sometimes hot-tempered queen, and you've got the Kingdom of Purpuria.

Aside from the United States, I have had much influence from Anglosphere contries such as Canada, but also British Hong Kong, and the motherland herself, Britain. To a lesser extent, I also have had influences from Portugal, Brazil, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Estonia, Japan, and Norway.

Wanted to write a monarchist China.

Decided to write the "last" monarchist China as an AU where via magic and butterflies they somehow fucked off from EOJ to become their own thing.

It started based off my own political ideology and then took on the culture of Southeast Asia, particularly Thailand, and names, places, and religions from Ursula K. LeGuin's books The Left Hand of Darkness and The Dispossessed, as well as her short story The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas. The last one is actually where I got my capital city's name, and my motto is a direct quote from The Dispossessed.

[Hanoverian Great Britain]

This nation served as my third version of the "what if" instances of history. For Hanoverian Great Britain, it basically came into being within an alternative timeline where under a completely possible circumstance, William IV's wife (Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen) produced a child after the king's death in 1837. Due to Victoria's ascension as Queen, the personal union between Britain and Hanover was broken as the Kingdom of Hanover's succession laws do not permit a female ruler. Thus, when the newborn child later became king, he succesfully fought for a restoration of an union between the two countries in a peaceful manner, which resulted in a still existing "Cold War" between modern-day Britain and Germany over the region of Lower Saxony which throughout the First and Second World Wars formed the basis of the modern Kingdom of Hanover which includes all British territories in continental Europe.

Countries led by pirates that existed in history or fiction inspired me. EU4 pirate republics, Somali pirates, the anime Black Lagoon and the obscure game Swashbucklers: Blue vs Grey also served as inspirations.

Mixed: The initial idea has been changing. Like central american banana republic to a large Caribbean island like la Hispaniola mostly inhabited by Afrocarribeans added mixed some european heritages and migration like: French, French huguenot, Irish, basque, etc. The Chaco war, too. And, problems ith drug lords.

The cultural theme of Bramozikwa come from the tribes and peoples from the Caribbean and South and Central America.

It's an odd mix of the history of Ireland (i.e. religious majority subdued by another nation until independence), with politics and geography of Northern Europe (mostly the Nordic counties), with a cultural mix of all of the above, as well as some Benelux influence.

I don't know why I decided to do this... I suppose I was envisioning my dream country.

I wanted to go for as moderate and normal of a nation as possible, compared to other nations I've created in the past that have been more extreme in nature.
I decided upon integrating the influence and neutral stance of Sweden with one of the nameless countries that was invaded by Erusea in Ace Combat 7; the neutrality of my nation only came about after being swiftly defeated in the Lighthouse War.

Coconut Palm Island is the result of what I think a near-perfect nation would look like, given that it faces the real-world difficulties all other nations do. It is based on the liberal European Constitutional Monarchies, but if they were on a tropical Island in the Atlantic, surrounded by other nations in various degrees of tyranny.

Basically, it's built around the idea of a nation in mid-Industrial Revolution somehow manages to discover alien tech and essentially becomes a Wakanda-esque nation but with alien tech instead of vibranium.
As for everything else, I made the history and lore of my nation after finding this cool flag while browsing on the Internet and having big weeb energy contributed to how my nation is primarily based on East Asian elements mixed with European themes.

Mine is, technically, a continent of several nations, being a fantasy version of the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Scandinavia, Germany, Finland, Spain, Italy and Portugal along with some smaller nations.
