View of elections in your nation

Postby Kabab » Fri Dec 28, 2012 8:17 pm

How does your country view elections?

The young queen of Kabab, Mallibue, views it as nothing more than slaves choosing their master, but it is mostly from her indoctrination from her deceased father, who had a intense hatred for elections.
Not bad for something that was a conservative satire to begin with.

Sardakhians view election as a boring process, where you go in, cast your vote, then leave. This is why we don't have elections now.

There are no elections or at least on the national level. There are some votes but only in small cities and communities.

Only a few chosen politicians are able to cast their votes. In the end, this is the 124th time our ruling party was in power, among 124 elections.

Though many Miramonters hold a degree of cynicism with regards to elections, it is nonetheless considered an important process. They entail a degree of vigour and excitement for news outlets and concerned citizens. Elections must occur no less than 5 years apart, with the exception of parliament and Sovereign-approved extensions under the War Measures Act.

Of course, there are no elections for Royals.

Casting your ballot for senator is a time honored tradition in The Campbell Nation. It is a liberty that dates back to the founding of the Senate and the nation. Apart from mandatory voting, it is considered one's civic duty to vote.
The Chancellor is elected by the senate, from one of the senators. There are not elections directly for the chancellorship.

^Generally how it goes here.

Elections are only used for legislation and local government, as we view the latter as being best-suited for elections and whatnot. Executive positions, on the other hand, are not electable, only appointable. Because Gods knows what would happen if the position of President was an electable position.

There are elections on nearly anything except for leadership. Currently, there is a bill going through the FWD's leadership (Sir Rainothy and his advisers) on whether or not a largely-increasing regional language become a national language.

Luziycans see elections as an opportunity to choose their leaders. From the county reeve, to the President, many look forward to it held every 4 years, the Presidential Election in 2011, 2015, and 2019 for 2012, 2016 and 2020 respectively, as well as many Mayoral offices in Luziyca, although some cities and towns hold it every three years.

In the end, they see is as an important process and that without it, they'd be oppressed.

where there is voting, there is consensus democracy and voluntary participation only. votes can't effect people who don't agree to the mandate or haven't participated in said referendum. This means that all decisions are made unanimously among affected parties. We view democracy as mob rule, and one of the most barbaric forms of government.

Elections are viewed as being less about choosing the nation's (elected) leader, and more about getting more seats for one's party of choice. The same is true on a provincial level.

While viewed as slightly useless, the President is elected every 6 years, and citizens can write down what they expect the President to do for the nation, and it will all be accounted for.

They're viewed as useless because the entire population votes on referenda, meaning we have no congress or senate.

In the TBRE, elections are seen as an important part of our transparent, fair, democratic society, and so are widely attended and watched. Elections are held for public offices, national referendum, and other large pieces of legislature such as constitutional amendments.

A lot of citizens are fairly apathetic towards the actual election process as many feel disillusioned by the candidates or perceive little difference between them. Furthermore Radiatians aren't particularly well educated and are astoundingly ignorant, and thus tend to care very little for who's in power, and have almost no political opinions one way or another.

That said the trend in recent years has seen voter apathy decrease, and while not every Radiatian turns out for elections, all Radiatians hold the right to vote as being almost sacred, mainly due to the nation's history of having fought bitterly for democracy.

In Slembana, Presidential elections take place every four years. Elections are though to be a fair way of choosing someone to run the country.
