Indeed. It's quite literally a maxim gun firing solid 2cm bullets. No HE or anything like that. Just a really powerfully machine gun.

Suddenly the army needs a weapon, any weapon that can kill these landships and as it happens someone gets the idea to take out the old 2cm machine guns out of stock. Perhaps not. The US doesn't seem to be adopting a bullpup anytime soon.
