That's where we differ greatly. Showing up drunk or hungover isn't a problem unless you're too drunk to fight. If that happens, you get given an sword and are pushed to the front of the lines. Or, occasionally, strapped to the front of a tank.

Responsibility is a huge part of Cordian culture. You are allowed to do pretty much whatever you want, as long as it harms noone else, but you are expected to be reasonable, intelligent and responsible in doing so. So while drinking with your mates is encouraged, because it fosters camaraderie among the troops, getting shitfaced and showing up late for dustoff with your armor on crooked and your gun half cleaned will get you punished severely by your officers, and despised by your peers.

Aqizithiuda is more based on honor. If you show up drunk but still kick arse, then you have more honour. However, if you fail miserably, then no official punishment is needed because everyone will pitch in to mock the person for their lost honour.

My soldiers have what are essentially portable HMGs, magic axes and the occasional nuclear bullet. And we're still outmatched by our main enemy. We could launch our entire nuclear arsenal, and it would just give our enemy a nice tan :p .

In a standard Kelwonan infantry squad there are a total of six Ak 5C assault rifles equipping fireteam leaders, grenadiers and members of the anti-vehicle team. The top accessory rail of the Ak 5C is almost always equipped with an Aimpoint CompM4 reflex sight in Kelwonan service but, in case the sight becomes damaged beyond use, each soldier carries a rear iron sight which can be mounted on the rail. When used by fireteam leaders and members of the anti-vehicle team, the lower rail is equipped with a vertical foregrip. In the grenadier role, this foregrip is replaced with an M320 grenade launcher.

I guess that explains all the green :p
Samozniy medics do carry small quantities of high-proof (120+) alcohol for minor first aid (cuts and such). Higher proof, between 160 and 200, is used at medical and surgical field stations and hospitals for all the various reasons.

Engineers have taken to carrying around 80-proof "glass cleaner" for "maintaining optical equipment". Logistics hasn't wised up yet.

What about a .44 Magnum cartridge that actually fires a .44 bullet? Wouldn't that be splendid?

Shot so much ammunition yesterday my shoulder hurts.

Saiga-12 has no missfeeding issues even after 1600 12 gauge rounds, no major malfunctions (2 stovepiles yesterday).
My 1897 needs some smith work, but its still working. Wonderfully.

And I rented a .17HMR, was a lot of fun.

Is it a bad thing if I favor nice round numbers for calibre? Like instead of 7.62 we use proprietary 8. HMG's use 15mm instead of 14.5... etc.

.44 Magnum is actually .43. Like how .38 Special is actually .357. It's because we don't used heeled bullets anymore, but the ammunition manufacturers wanted to eliminate confusion with older revolvers.

It isn't. But .44 Special is.

A heeled bullet is when the bullet has a ledge that overlaps the casing, so that the visible portion of the bullet has the same diameter as the casing. It was thought to improve gas sealing.

Ah. When you said it was about improving the gas seal, I figured it was something to do with the case at the throat not being ensured a seal.
Then I remembered most revolvers don't have much of a gas seal with the case at all.
