I newer understood why anyone would ban any sort of weapon. Seriously war is about butchering the other guy. There is no point in pretending to be civil while doing it. That's about as pointless as having your officers walk out of the trenches and perform gentlemen duels while the rest of the army fights as normal.

In a sense I agree; banning something in war is stupid. Though in even RPs its necessary, as much of modern times would be moot.

No. A 7mm bullet travelling as fast or faster is the be all end all. Get above 7mm, and your ballistic coefficient starts to drop unless you compensate with more powder (and thus more recoil and round size)

Well, it is a large round and has a lot of powder.

And thus you end up getting a big, bulky, heavy cartridge with no real benefit over a smaller cartridge, thus overburdening your troops and decreasing ammo capacity in one fell swoop.

Well, given the fact that everyone and their grandmother issues heavy body armor on NS, it makes a lot more sense as a general-purpose cartridge than it would in RL.

Not really.

This is an armor plate.

A typical plate carrier has two of these, one in the front, and one in the back. It covers the heart, liver and most of the lungs. There are arteries in the legs, shoulders, arms and (obviously) neck and head that can be just as lethal if breached. Unless your men are wearing something like this;

There's going to be plenty of vulnerable and very lethal areas.

Even assuming the round strikes the plate, it's probably going make you strongly reconsider leaving cover, if it doesn't break a rib or knock the breath clean out of you. And remember; the purpose of the infantry rifle is not to kill; it's to suppress, so that arty, AFVs, grenades, designated marksmen, etc. can pick them off at their leisure.

I think that isn't to much for a better rifle. Its still an AK, just will less recoil and more accuracy. All a much better thing for a bit higher price. Can this be applied to existing AK74s?

Likely so. IIRC it's not too much more expensive.

Actually, it's an AL-7 in an AK shell.
So no, it can't be applied to existing AK-74s.
