Citing recent military mishaps and blunders over the course of the Islamic collectivist uprising in the Nabaghasset region - specifically, in and around the towns of Abu Kaqiya and Almoustarat - as well as an inability to effectively lead, gather foreign support, and protect the Rifati Republic from internal and external threats, Tawriq Abu Samad (de-facto leader of the National Democratic faction) told reporters from the Bendigha Political Monitor that the coalition would be henceforth 'withdrawing from the AL-WATANIU coalition government.'
"While I do respect both President Boudjera and PM Benboulaid, as well as sympathize with them for the tough situation that they have been faced with, I must say candidly that I feel that they can no longer lead the Rifati Republic successfully. This is not a decision that I, or anyone else within my faction, have made lightly. It is, however, the decision that has been made." Abu Samad was quoted as saying, closing the impromptu press gaggle shortly thereafter.
The departure of the National Democratic faction has dealt a significant -- if not fatal -- blow to the Boudjera-Benboulaid administration, which has so far been withstanding both quiet political departures from their coalition as well as calls for their resignation. Members of the opposition Steadfast faction have reportedly seized the opportunity to plan and put forth a motion for a vote of no confidence against the administration. Badr al-Neman, the de-facto leader of the Steadfast coalition, told interviewers with the Bendigha Political Monitor during a phone call today that the current administration 'has completely and totally lost the faith of the people' and that 'it is now the duty of the General People's Senate to remove the current administration.'
