Prime Minister Akbari also stated that Ainin's referral to CENBA is a "sign of weakness".
The UNIR’s interjection on behalf of Pisdara has been met with vicious responses by the Saheilian and Aininian governments. Prime Minister Akbari however stated that the “UNIR seeks close fraternal ties with Saheil”, but lamented that “this is jeopardised by the irresponsible and clearly anti-Nautasian mentality of Saheil’s ruling administration.” It follows Saheil’s Prime Minister Annan Sulieman threat to interdict UNIR shipping. Huimont has threatened the UNIR ship on patrol, while dragging Namor into the spat through CENBA.
Despite the State President’s justified anger yesterday, the Prime Minister at behest of the State Council of the Union – and the State President, has sought to allay fears of aggression by the UNIR. Speaking at a press conference, Prime Minister Qassem Akbari expressed the nation’s willingness to seek close ties to Saheil, saying, “we seek close fraternal ties with Saheil as we do with all Nautasian nations, but for this to happen, there must be room for success.”
“Unfortunately, such close ties, both cultural, political and economic are hindered by the clear and present anti-Nautasian and outright irresponsible attitudes of the government of Prime Minister Annan Sulieman. The vessel now travelling to the area of sea where the Pisdari vessel was obliterated is doing so peacefully, to ensure that all know that we stand with Pisdara. It is not there to question Saheilian sovereignty nor exert a threat” he said further.
“Yet, the threat of attacks on UNIR shipping and economic assets is deeply troubling and disturbing. Not only do these threats endanger peace beyond any symbolic patrol of one lone vessel, they represent a departure of rationality by the Saheilian government” he said.
When asked to draw on Ainin’s response, the Prime Minister said, “we expect nothing less than Ainin to internationalise a symbolic gesture by the Union, by fleeing to the corridors of CENBA. It is a sign of weakness, not strength.”
The Prime Minister did concede that if Pisdara rules the investigation into the incident fair and just, the Union would support their decision.
“Should the Pisdari nation view any Saheilian investigation fair and just, acceptable to the victims’ families and to their people, then the Union will support their decision. But our point, the very point the Union is making now, is that we as a responsible power in this continent will not sit back and allow Ainin to endanger Pisdari sovereignty through inaction towards Sulieman’s government” the Prime Minister concluded.
Despite the official government response being relatively pragmatic towards the warmongering and inciteful Sulieman regime, politicians in the Supreme Assembly have been less forthcoming.
Colonel Vahid Namdar denounced Saheil’s threat towards UNIR shipping, saying during a session today, “if they dare dent the hull of one UNIR freighter or tanker, then we must unleash such hellfire upon them. Let CENBA come, its only a collection of third rate nations and insular Namor, who can barely muster the will the war on Luziyca.”
Mehmet Kaya, Col. Namdar’s ideological ally in the Supreme Assembly followed up by arguing, “at last we see, when the Saheilians blasted a fishing boat out of the water, murdering Pisdaris the Aininians said nothing, they didn’t even wince. We deploy a warship to show our support to an island nation of 30,000 people and they deploy a small flotilla and call on CENBA, all in the defence of the murderers in Saheil.”
Supreme Cleric, Ayatollah Ali Khorsani also spoke out against Ainin, addressing Irvadi reconstruction workers in Luqya he said, “let them call upon CENBA, let them and their puppet Sulieman hide behind Namorese iron skirts. Let them use CENBA to cover their crime against Pisdara, let them use CENBA to scare the UNIR and all Nautasia, let them know they will fail to do so.”
The Ministry of National Defence has stated that is not “viewing Saheil’s threats seriously, but the Islamic Revolutionary Army does have the means to respond swiftly should Saheil venture foolishly towards making on those threats.”
The Foreign Ministry also issued a statement, urging Namor to refrain from venturing into a purely Nautasian situation, “as a friend of the People’s Republic, the Union of Nautasian Islamic Republics kindly recommends that Namor refrain from entering the current situation, we do not seek war or any confrontation with Namor, our relations and history stand to strong to be wasted on a purely Nautasian affair”, a spokesman said.
