Nevan and Filimon forces begin offensive against terrorist troops in Lecistan
NEVANLINNA - Nevan and Filimon forces began a large-scale offensive against terrorist forces in Lecistan this morning, intending to push the bandits out of Rzeszu river valley once and for all.
The offensive began with a tactical retreat, allowing bandits to advance and thus leave their heavily fortified defensive positions. After the bandits had advanced dozens, and in some cases even a hundred kilometers, Nevan and Filimon forces began a massive assault supported by air attacks and artillery bombardment.
General Rolf Tuura called the offensive a major success. "We had had some difficulties in digging the rats out of their holes, but this time they actually came out voluntarily. Like rats, they stood no chance against our combined forces once they were out of their hiding holes."
Tuura also praised Royal Nevan Air Force pilots for their skill: "Despite using weapons such as fuel-air bombs that have a capability to destroy and kill targets over a very large area, our boys in the sky have managed to keep civilian casualties to a minimum level. Their precision can't be rivalled by any other air force in the world, they strike at the enemy and only at the enemy."
Tuura refused to comment on whether the Royal Nevan Army would intend to continue the offensive towards Brzny and Lutorowo once the river valley and Ritserzow were secured, but stated that "victory is in our sights, and it won't be much longer now."
Nevanmaa has continued to expand its troop presence in Lecistan; recently it was announced that King's 2nd Division, a unit that includes the King Juhani Regiment named after the current king, would be deployed to Nevanmaa together with some Royal Nevan Air Force elements. However, some believe that this is not enough: On Friday, 70 MP's of the Patriotic Front, Royalist Conservative Movement and the National Coalition demanded that the Diet should ask the King to declare state of war in Nevanmaa, which would mean that conscripts could potentially be sent to Lecistan.
"It is shameful that some elements of the Diet refuse to take adequate measures to protect the territories of Kaarenmaa-Hennala" said 83-year old Waldemar Taivalvuo, an MP of the National Coalition and grandson of war hero Akseli Taivalvuo in an emotional speech in the Chamber of People. "My grandfather would be turning in his grave if he saw how the left is selling out His Royal Majesty's realm in favor of petty political gains. I urge HRM to remember his oath to the people and disregard the partisan bickering of the Diet. Lead your people against the enemy and don't let these democrats on the left oppose you!"
