Recall on Zhangmao eyelash growth serums due to horrific side effect
Image
Health Minister Victoria Savov

KRASIMIR, KRASIMIR - Today, Health Minister Victoria Savova ordered a recall on all Zhangmao eyelash growth serums after it was revealed that between 2008, when Zhangmao was first approved to help patients grow "longer, darker and lusher eyelashes," and 2016, there have been 184 reported cases of trichiasis, or eyelashes growing back toward the eye from the inside of the eyelid, connected to usage of Zhangmao eyelash serums.

Savova stated that "it has become abundantly clear that since the approval of the first Zhangmao eyelash growth serum in 2008, these products which promise longer, darker and lusher eyelashes have a horrific side effect: there have been nearly two hundred cases of trichiasis caused by these products. Therefore, we have declared it in the public interest to issue a recall on all Zhangmao eyelash growth serums."

The company, Sopharma, which manufactures many pharmaceutical products, including the recalled Zhangmao eyelash serums, has promised to provide 75,000 zalots in compensation to the 184 people who have suffered from trichiasis as a consequence of these products.

The CEO of Sopharma, Samuil Pramatarov also stated that "All Zhangmao eyelash growth serums have been pulled from the shelves [in Katranjiev], and will only return to the shelves once we make a new version that does not cause trichasis." In addition, Pramatarov has urged all persons still using Zhangmao eyelash growth serums to dispose of these products in a safe manner as "soon as possible."

BREAKING: President issues ultimatum to Kinzerian government
Adlerberg demands extradition of FMPA leaders after Mzambala attack
Updated 27 May 2017 at 16:49 VDT

Mrs. Adlerberg delivered the ultimatum in a speech on
Saturday afternoon

STRANDHAVN, VJAARLAND - President Adlerberg has issued an ultimatum to the Kinzerian government demanding the extradition of several leaders in the Free Mburi People’s Army, days after the militant group claimed responsibility for last week’s deadly attack on Mzambala Naval Base.

The president established Strandhavn’s terms in a televised address on Saturday afternoon. Under the conditions, Kinzeria must hand over a number of FMPA leaders, who are known by Vjaarlandic intelligence to reside in the nation, to Vjaarlandic authorities by midnight on Wednesday (ST±0). 54 individuals were named by the president, including FMPA head Gwanda Chiume. President Adlerberg further demanded that the Mpakati administration cease all material aid to the FMPA and take active steps to dismantle the organization’s networks within Kinzeria, extraditing any other affiliated individuals.

“Our current peaceful relations with Kinzeria are not sustainable if the Mpakati regime continues to support terror and aggression against the Vjaarlandic people,” Mrs. Adlerberg said on Saturday. “If President Mpakati refuses to cooperate with our government in tracking down these criminals and bringing them to justice, I will not rule out the use of military force.”

Tensions between Lykkestad and Strandhavn have escalated significantly over the week since the Mzambala attack. Last Sunday, thousands of additional Vjaarlandic troops deployed to Mzambala Naval Base while two Navy destroyers moved to the Kinzerian coast. Forces in Mburiland remain on a heightened state of alert, and authorities have called up the Mburiland Home Guard to active duty.

Kinzerian military activity has also increased in the wake of Vjaarland’s mobilization. VRT's Kinzerian affiliate has reported large scale troop movements near the border with Mburiland, as well as in the Mzambala and Lykkestad areas. The Kinzerian government has not responded to inquiries from VRT on the status of its military forces, maintaining its week-long policy of silence that began following the Mzambala attack.

Coupe d'Esquarium VIII - Xiaodong draws against Lanos in disappointing first match
May 28, 2017
By Li Boda

Image

Borneung, Toksan - In a disappointing opening match the Xiaodongese football team has drawn against Lanos in the first day of the Coupe d'Esquarium VIII.

The match saw the Xiaodongese striker Xi Chengji score the first goal 10 minutes into the game, but apart from a Lanosian goal after half time the match quickly turned into a stalemate between the two teams, resulting in a draw. Xiaodongese fans will be disappointed as the Xiaodongese team has failed to improve from its dismal performance at the last Coupe d'Esquarium, with matches between football powerhouses Luziyca and Nevanmaa scheduled for the 1st and the 3rd set to produce similarly bad results.

"The Lanos team played very well, so its natural that we are disappointed that we only drew in a match we know we could have won" team captain Song Qiabiao told the East Sea Daily. "We have an enormous uphill task facing us if we are to beat or draw against Nevanmaa and Luziyca, so all we can hope for is that we can learn from this and try harder next time". Already criticism is being levelled at manager Chen Yongzhi who replaced Mao Pai Nai in February after the latter stepped down after the disastrous Coupe d'Esquarium VII which saw Xiaodong lose all but one of its games.

The other teams in Group E, Nevanmaa and Luziyca, also drew 1-1. Meanwhile in Group A there was another pair of draws, with neither Kaona-Phaonam nor Arkiasis scoring any goals whilst Montecara and Pisdara drew 1-1. In Group B Alemannia have become the champions after an impressive debut winning 4-3 to Fjalland, whilst the winners of the last two Coupes Atlia and Ainin face off together with Atlia coming out on top beating Ainin 3-2. In Group C Pavonistade and Daecon drew 2-2 whilst Toksan likely buoyed playing on home ground won against Namor 4-3. Group E saw the biggest upset with rookie team Korizland beating Senria, despite Senria's likely use of performance enhancing drugs giving them their usual edge. East Cortoguay meanwhile lost handily to Vyvland 0-1.

The next game will be on the 1st with Xiaodong facing against Luziyca.

Interim President declares the 5th May a national holiday and confirms that it was a popular revolution
Interim President Abdul-Tariq Samad has decreed the 5th May a national holiday and a revolution, while anger grows over foreign deployments to Kraq.
Mohammad Gazri
19 May, 2017, 16.30pm | Qufeira, United Islamic Republic of Irvadistan

Image
Ayatollah Bashar al-Takri has demanded that Luziyca and Ainin withdraw their troops from Kraq
before they "feel the pain of their actions".

Interim President of Irvadistan, Abdul-Tariq Samad has declared the 5th May a national holiday, dubbed “Revolution Day.” The 5th May was the date that the Irvadi military overthrew the regime of Amin Kamel and instituted plans for the creation of democratic system of government. At an event in the parliament, he said that “the 5th May must be celebrated every year with growing conviction and joy at our victory over darkness.”
22 days ago, the Irvadi military stormed various government offices and departments in at least three cities, including the presidential palace in the capital. The army swiftly overthrew the Kamel regime, detaining and purging all those loyal to him as he fled to Koyro with his closest family and associates. The army was not alone, throughout the night they joined by hundreds of thousands of Irvadi citizens who felt the need to aid their soldiers in ending 42 years of socialist rule. Since that night, the coup has been widely presented not as such, but as a popular revolution led by the army.

Responding to this popular view of the night, Interim President Samad responded by declaring the 5th May a national holiday and all references to that night to be known as the 5th May Revolution from midnight tonight.
Speaking at the parliament in Qufeira, Mr. Samad said, “as Interim President I am officially presenting to you, this decree, declaring the 5th May to be a national holiday. A day each year, in which the nation can come together in celebration of our victory over evil. The day must be celebrated every year with growing conviction and joy over our victory against darkness.

“This decree also includes a request, to all Irvadis, regardless of occupation or profession that we address and refer to that night as what it was, not a coup, not a military take over, but a popular revolution, led by the army. Because I remember watching with great relief and pride, civilian and soldier rising up to tear down the tyrant together. Thousands upon thousands of our people revolted against the tyrant and his clan of criminals and brought them down, together. That is a revolution. And so, as of midnight tonight, that night shall be known as the 5th May Revolution” he said, receiving applause from the chamber.

Since the 5th May, the Irvadi press which has exploded in size and activity since the collapse of the regime, have all been presenting the night’s events as a popular revolution. The Al-Mashriq newspaper has referenced that night as a revolution since it occurred, while the Irvadi Globe and Mail has done the same.

Thousands of Irvadis have continuously taken to the streets in Irvadistan since the revolution, celebrating the end of the regime, but also calling upon the interim government to continue releasing political prisoners from the regime’s last few years. The interim government has already released over 2,000 people detained by the regime for criticising the war and regime corruption. However, the government has refused to release those detained for Salafist sympathies.

Irvadistan has also seen extensive campaigning for the general election that is being held in four days’ time. It is expected for Interim President Samad’s United Irvadi Alliance to win a second landslide, after doing so in the former Provisional Authority last month. The latest poll puts the UIA on 56% and the Democratic Party on 24%, in what some are saying is going to be a repeat of the results seen the PAI.

President Samad’s approval ratings across all liberated Irvadistan reportedly stand at 82%, with many approving of his leadership and efforts to dismantle the Kamelist regime. His decision to declare the 5th May a national holiday has been widely applauded already, though it is unlikely that it will have a dramatic effect on polls or the election’s result.

Senior cleric demands foreign forces in Kraq leave immediately

One of Irvadistan’s most senior clerics, Ayatollah Bashir al-Takri has demanded that Aininian and Luziycan forces already in Kraq leave the country immediately, calling their deployments and future deployments, “blatant invasions that must and will be opposed by the proud people of Nautasia.”

Anger over the Aininian and Luziycan decisions to deploy troops to Kraq has spread wide across Nautasia, no more so than Irvadistan, where the people have come to learn the negative consequences of non-Nautasian and non-Muslim forces occupying their streets. Much like the Kamelist regime, the government in Kraq invited the foreign forces in exchange for self-preservation and has already begun to show signs of being subjugated by the two powers.

Speaking to a protest in the capital Qufeira, Ayatollah Bashar al-Takri warned that the powers’ soldiers will soon “feel the heat and sharp pain of their presence here, either at the hands of the takfiri terrorists, or the rage of the Kraqi people, who will soon, like we did here in Irvadistan, realise your true intentions.”

“Leave now before you become too invested, leave now while your numbers are small, leave now before you begin to subjugate the Kraqi people” he said.

Ayatollah al-Takri was one the key figures during the 5th May Revolution, issuing a fatwa urging Irvadi Muslims to support the army in overthrowing the socialist regime. He has since become a prominent figure in the now-called Nautasian Freedom Defence Front. He has also been the most vocal critic of the foreign deployments to Kraq.

“If Hussein and his clan want you, fine, he can join you in the journey back to where you came from. This is a Nautasian struggle that must be waged by Nautasians, it is our war, not yours to use for your malicious schemes and plot to repress the Islamic world” he said to loud cheers from the audience.

Around 6,000 people attended the protest in Martyr’s Square in central Qufeira. The square formally known as Independence Square during socialist period was the main rallying site for Irvadis during the 5th May Revolution and has been renamed in honour of those who died overthrowing the Kamelist regime.

Ayatollah al-Takri also denounced Ainin and Luziyca for their defence of the Ahmed Hussein regime in Kraq, calling their actions “criminal actions against humanity and human dignity, they destabilise our continent, endanger our country and prop up a man who along with Kamel gave birth to the very evil Irvadis and Ankorenis die fighting, they must leave now.”

Districts declare state of emergency as late spring heat wave hits southern coast
Наморайин | English

A Mojing local eats besides the Tung River under a bridge. Namor's second-
largest city reported a temperature of 42°C - the highest since
NMR 2357
Namo - Millions of residents are being advised to stay indoors as a late spring heat wave hits the southern Namorese coast, bringing the temperature in some places to unprecedented levels.

The Central Weather Authority reported that many cities in Minjian, Southern Namor and East Namor experienced temperatures near the mid-40s. In Xiangmen, the temperature spiked to 40°C - shattering last year's record of 34°C. The temperature reached 41°C in Namo, breaking the 38°C record set during the "Great Heat Wave" of NMR 2357. Mojing also broke its NMR 2357 record with a temperature of 42°C. The CWA says the heat wave is expected to last throughout the next week.

The heat wave has prompted responses from local governments across the affected areas. Minjian, Southern Namor, East Namor, Namo and Peitoa all declared a state of emergency. To prevent unnecessary fatalities, authorities canceled classes, delaying the administration of the High Test in many places. Hospitals have been calling employees back to work.

Across the nation's airports, the impact of the heat wave can still be felt. Thousands of passengers were stranded in airport terminals after Air Namor delayed both domestic and international flights. High-speed rail services in multiple cities were also suspended.

Meteorologists expressed concerns about the heat wave and what it may entail for Namor as summer arrives.

"It's discouraging that the temperature in some cities exceeded NMR 2357 levels in May," said Lin Todin, chief of the CWA. "This is definitely a good indication that parts of Namor will continue to experience record temperatures throughout the summer months."

Lin called on residents in affected areas to use their "common sense" as temperatures show no sign of subsiding.

"Do not stay out longer than you have to. Drink as much water as possible. If you're using water for purposes other than personal hygiene and survival, think twice," he said.

Report on Luziyca's allies to be released by late June

Image
Foreign Minister Pao Venzong said the first annual
report on allies of the Luziycan regime will be released
in late June, pursuant to law
Namo - Foreign Minister Pao Venzong confirmed that the government will publish its first annual report on Luziyca's allies in late June, pursuant to a law passed in NMR 2381 that requires the Foreign Ministry to maintain an annual report on foreign governments and organizations allied with Bethlehem.

Pao said the ministry has made "substantial progress" in compiling the report, which he described as "very detailed."

Laying out the criterion used to determine which groups are pro-Luziycan, Pao said groups that have "close military and political ties with Luziyca" or "toe Luziyca's line on national and regional security issues" will be included in the report.

The government is acting in accordance with the Defense of Namorese Dignity Act (DNDA), which requires the Foreign Ministry to maintain an annual report on foreign governments and organizations "allied, explicitly or implicitly" with the Luziycan regime. It also requires Namorese lawmakers and most Namorese officials to consult the Foreign Ministry before coming into contact with Luziycan officials.

Unsurprisingly, the act was condemned by Bethlehem's allies and is said to have triggered the resignation of former president Sera Svensson.

Patriots draw 1-1 with the Lions
Image
The match

HWANGGUM, TOKSAN - At the first match of the eighth Chaska i Esquarium, our Patriotic lads tied the Nevans 1-1, when just seconds to go in the match, Edward Song scored a goal against the Nevans, resulting in the match ending in a draw.

The match
13 minutes in the first half, Niko Väisänen scored a goal against the Patriots. This immediately triggered an attempt at revenge: 18 minutes in, Mario Rusenov attempted to score a goal, but was blocked by Juho Väätäinen.

This sparked an attempt by the Lions to score a goal, when Tero Kolkkala tried to score a goal, but was blocked by Jung at the 22 minute mark. Jung then attempted to score a goal, but was blocked by Lauri Männikkö at the 25 minute mark.

Once the ball was passed to Ari Nurmela, he made a valiant attempt to try and break through the Patriotic defenses, but was stopped at the 27 minute mark by Song. Song took the opportunity to pass the ball to Sandra Todorov, and at the 29 minute mark, Sandra attempted to score a goal. It reached the net, but it ricocheted off of a goalpost.

By now, morale on both sides started to wear a bit thin, and there was no real serious attempts to try to score another goal on either side for the rest of the half. It ended with the Nevans leading 1-0.

The second half was much of the same, although at the 67 minute mark, Johannes Eklund attempted to break past the Patriotic defenses. Alas, the Lion failed to do so as Jung successfully prevented it from getting close enough to the goal.

Finally, at the 89 minute mark, after an uneventful second half, Song managed to break through the Nevan defenses, and managed to deliver a blow to the Lions, with just seconds left to spare.

The match ended with a 1-1 draw.

Analysis
Assistant Manager Barbara Schmidt said that "the Patriots have done their best against the Nevans. They've played their hardest against the Nevans, but the Nevans have a strong cohesion; a strong defense, and they have practiced incredibly well."

"While we have practiced pretty well, it was not enough to defeat the Nevans," she stated. "When we reach our next match [against Xiaodong], we will train harder in order to ensure that we will defeat Xiaodong."

State President pledges full diplomatic support for Kinzeria in growing crisis with Vjaarland
State President Volkan slams Vjaarland for 19th century behaviour and warns any action against Kinzeria would be illegal.
Mehmet Erbakan
28 May, 2017, 17.00pm | Zahedan, Union of Ankoren

Image
State President Volkan has spoken to Kinzerian President Thoko Mpakati, offering him the Union's support.

State President Evren Volkan has denounced Vjaarland’s threat against Kinzeria as “blatant threats to undermine and destroy Kinzerian sovereignty, which is unacceptable in the 21st century and quite frankly irreprehensible to the people of Nautasia.” It comes as the Vjaarlander government has demanded that Kinzeria hand over the leadership of the Free Mburi People’s Army, if Kinzeria does not release them, the Vjaarlander government may use military force.

Speaking to reporters at the Taylan Saray, State President Volkan revealed that he has spoken to Kinzeria’s president, Thoko Mpakati over the phone.

“I have spoken to President Mpakati and informed him that the Union is utterly disgusted by Vjaarland’s blatant threats against his nation’s sovereignty. I have also assured him of the Union’s diplomatic support, because once again we face a world power, gripped by arrogance, treating yet another Nautasian state as if it were the 19th century. This is unacceptable in the 21st century and quite frankly irreprehensible to the people of Nautasia” he said.

The Vjaarlander threat follows an attack on its naval base at Mzambala, which left 15 Vjaarlander soldiers dead and over 20 injured.

State President Volkan however did say, “while the Union always hopes for diplomatic efforts to succeed, and there is a case for such an effort here, Vjaarland has destroyed that possibility with its blatant threat of illegal military action against Kinzeria. This, only reinforces our concern that Vjaarland, being eager to shore up its declining status in the world, will do so by waging an illegal war upon Kinzeria. The Union, has always said that such action worsens the stability of this continent and now Vjaarland is eager to repeat these mistakes.

“One key feature of a global power, is being a responsible actor, Vjaarland is not being responsible. Draw what conclusions you wish from that, we know what we are seeing and we are seeing 19th century imperialist behaviour” he said.

According to VRT, President Adlerberg established Strandhavn’s terms, Kinzeria must hand over a number of FMPA leaders, who are known by Vjaarlandic intelligence to reside in the nation, to Vjaarlandic authorities by midnight on Wednesday (ST±0).

“Perhaps if Vjaarland recognised that popular support for its continued neo-colonial presence in Mburiland is no longer a reality, it may find itself on a new peaceful path,” he said. “We urge Vjaarland to reconsider this illegal threat and return to the table as a responsible world power, befitting of its culture and contribution to humanity.”

The situation has troubled many in the government, who see Kinzeria has a success story for Afro-Nautasian freedom and prosperity. In recent months, the Foreign Ministry has made clear that it wants to improve ties between Kinzeria and the Union, as well as dramatically increase Ankoreni investment in the country.

With the Union, pledging full diplomatic support for Kinzeria, it will be seen if Vjaarland continues down the route of arrogant aggression against Kinzeria.

South Nautasia executes 28, sentenced by military tribunal
by Samuel Ydriksh

At Sarasota-Manatee, "hardcore" terrorists were convicted for "heinous" terrorism-related offences by the military courts. The terrorists in question belonged to various terror groups operating throught South Nautasia. The charges are too many too count, from manslaughter of innocent civilians to destruction of private and public property to disturbance of public peace.

Half of the convicted belong to the infamous Taleeh-bahn, last January Teh-inhala almost a mere month after their previous attack on the Jewish settlement killing one citizen and 15 non-citizens. Everyone mourn the death of Elisia Gledynn, mother of 4 who died from stray bullet on the heart. After the attack, the attackers were found hiding among civilian population but after the military fired several mortar rounds on the Arab village; the perpetrators and their families were detained.

Authorities claim that military jurisdiction is a effective deterrent" against terrorism, rights groups question transparency of the trials because of the secrecy surrounding the special tribunals. 'Although it's not the right group activists themselves that have to face every day reality' commented Colonel Avidan Czarnecki

No information has been released about the other convicted terrorists at this time.

Pisdara ties 1-1 with Montecara in first match of CdE VIII
Image
The Pelicans tied in today's game with Montecara, showing a relatively
strong start to CdE VII in comparison to last season's tournament

Hopes ran high today as the Pelicans tied 1-1 against Montecara’s King-Killers in today’s game in Borneung, starting off Pisdara’s run in CdE VIII. The match, which would see if the Pelicans have exited their slump (as seen last season) with a switch-up in their roster.

The game, played at the Bornueng Games Stadium, saw the two small states battle it out, as fans cheered and jokingly mocked the other side. Since Pisdara’s debut in CdE VI, it has found a rather friendly rivalry with Montecara, mainly due to the two nation’s similarities. For example, one fan held a sign during the start of the match that read “Go Irrelevant Island Nation! Not you, the other one!”. Despite this friendly ribbing though, the actual match itself was fierce, with players on both sides fiercely aiming to gain an upper hand, especially with the defeat of CdE VII still so fresh.

Although the jury is still out on whether the Pelicans can make it back into the semi-finals, their tie with Montecara showed some hope, with forward Ad Mat-Ili scoring in mid-game against the King-Killers, mere minutes after Monteceran forward Tolomè Oddo scored against Pisdara. The game remained rather uneventful after that, with the Pelicans blocking advances made by Montecara and vice-versa. Coach Fabrice Moreau commented on the game, jokingly stating that “I felt that I was back at CdE VI.” There, Pisdara and Montecara also battled in the group stage, although that match resulted in a 2-4 win for the Pelicans.

The Pelicans will next match up against Arkiasis at the Bornueng Games Stadium June 1st, with Moreau hoping that that game will prove a springboard for Pisdara to return to the semi-finals and possibly even further. Arkiasis’s first match held today also led to a tie between them and the joint Kaonese-Phikamese team, with a slightly shocking 0-0 score. Once reaching as high as second place in CdE VI, Arkiasis had a extremely rough time at VII, sliding down twelve spots to 14th (just above Pisdara, who slid down ten spaces to 15th). With an inability to strengthen their position in the start of the tournament, this may be to Pisdara’s advantage in two days time.

President Simpsen signs executive order aimed at sanctioning Kinzeria, to go into effect if ultimatum deadline passes
Date: May 28, 2017

Image
President Simpsen (pictured April 2017) signed an
executive order implementing action against Kinzeria if
it fails to comply with Vjaarland's ultimatum by
Wednesday.
In a somewhat-unexpected way, President Kal Simpsen has prepared a course of measures to be enacted against the country of Kinzeria. This may be a clear indication that he is continuing to introduce increasingly-interventionist policies.

The [Order] To Realign Pavonistade's Stance On Kinzeria Upon Failure Of Its Government To Comply With The Ultimatum Issued By Vjaarland, or simply Order 528/17 (indicating date on which the order was signed), was signed by President Simpsen earlier today. However, it will not have the force of law until the deadline for an ultimatum issued by Vjaarland passes on Wednesday.

If Kinzeria fails to accept Vjaarland's ultimatum, which demands extradition of certain persons and commitment on Kinzeria's part to dismantling the Free Mburi People’s Army (FMPA), Order 528/17 will compel the Pavonistadian government to sever bilateral relations with Kinzeria.

This would result in the expulsion of Kinzeria's ambassador, recall of Pavonistade's ambassador and closure of embassies in Pavonistadeck and Lykkestad. This could cause uncertainties among Pavonistadians similar to what was seen after President Simpsen cut reciprocal diplomatic presence with Xiaodong earlier this month. No protecting power has been specified by Order 528/17 in the case where Pavonistade-Kinzeria relations are severed.

In addition to severing diplomatic relations, Order 528/17 would allow the Pavonistadian government to seize the assets of any Kinzerian officials and individuals, whether or not they are related to the FMPA. The order would also ban certain high-ranking members of the Kinzerian national government, including President Thoko Mpakati and Vice President Rudolf Chiwaya, from setting foot on Pavonistadian soils.

President Simpsen proclaimed that Order 528/17 was drafted and signed in order to pressure Kinzeria into accepting Vjaarland's ultimatum before the deadline.

The President himself stated, "Terrorism is a heinous activity that no state should ever sponsor or support. [...] Pavonistade will be prepared to take stringent action within its power if Kinzeria fails to suppress its subhuman nature and comply with the reasonable demands set forth by Vjaarland, which has suffered tremendously from FPMA operations and Kinzerian state-sponsored terrorism".

President Simpsen and the Pavonistadian Government is likely taking their own initiatives to push Kinzeria into a more-difficult position, rather than directly coordinating with Vjaarland in regards to the ultimatum.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Domestic Affairs stated that they are prepared to execute provisions under Order 528/17 should Kinzeria allow the ultimatum deadline to pass. At the time being, Ankoren has vowed to support Kinzeria diplomatically.

Government Declares State of Emergency; SERC Collapses

For the last couple of weeks, our Caneja has suffered from everything to terrorists attacks, coup attempts and even a war on treacherous separatists. So yesterday, the government declared that they will put Caneja under a state of emergency, in order to show all the terrorists out there who is in charge. The duration of this State of Emergency is undecided, and may last a while. During this State of Emergency, a nuumber of new rules will be implemented and enforced. Among them are: Anyone seen outside their house after 21:00 will be arrested, local time. Anyone showing any kind of support towards terrorist groups like SERC, or Abecia Libre! will be arrested and court-martialed. Every number except the numbers for emergency services has been blocked, as certain numbers have been deemed a threat against national solidarity.

Our National Police forces will be on full alert, in order to enforce these new laws, and to capture any conspirators against our Cotilla-regime. Any harmful elements that may possess a potential threat towards Caneja will be removed in order to ensure the security of Caneja and its people. Since the introduction of this State of Emergency, around 200 people deemed to be harmful or enemies of the state, have been arrested in the name of Cotilla. A number of those arrested since yesterday have proven to, during court-martial, be SERC operatives. This is the last we have heard from the SERC since their attack on the Sodium reactor in Hortigal, this may be due to the fact that they have very recently collapsed.

For the last weeks, members of our Special Forces have infiltrated the SERC and have also uncovered the location of the SERC headquarters. As of midnight, our National Police launched a successful raid against the SERC headquarters. Among those arrested, the police found the men responsible for the terrorist attacks in Hortigal. Our police also found the leader of SERC, who was deemed a threat too great to live, he was arrested on point. Is this proof? Proof that Caneja is heading into better times? I, for one, think so! Caneja Vidas E Segue Adiante!

East Nozama city busts football gambling ring

A major gambling ring was busted for making bets for the eighth
Coupe d'Esquarium
East Nozama - As the eighth Coupe d'Esquarium opens in Toksan, police in Namor arrested 56 people for betting on football matches in what appears to be the most severe case of sports gambling in years.

Police in Taira, East Nozama say they busted a large ring that specialized in football gambling. The ring was led by Tran Hung Thanh, a 49 year-old native of Tuhao whom investigators labeled as a "football fanatic." Tran had a record of criminal activity prior to his arrest; he had served prison time for robbing a pet store and assaulting police.

According to investigators, Tran attracted ring members by allowing participants to bet an unlimited amount of money. The prize for winners ranged from P800,000 to P1,200,000.

Sports gambling remains a problem in many parts of Namor, where gambling is illegal and punishable by up to three years in prison. According to figures provided by the Supreme People's Procuratorate, football gambling is the second most popular form of sports gambling, exceeded only by gymnastics gambling ("gymbling").

The Taira arrests represent the most severe case of sports gambling in years.

The last widespread crackdown on sports gambling occurred in NMR 2369, when 41 people in East Namor were arrested for gymnastics gambling during the Esquarian Games. Even former President-General Alicia Wolf was investigated by authorities for making bets on gymnasts. She later admitted to gambling, but was not charged due to presidential immunity.

Council of National Direction to initiate new programs for non-city territories

29 MAY 2017 | 22:16 PM

Image
Chief Director Yoo Chul-Soon presiding over a Council meeting

Irikon ― The Council of National Direction has announced that from August 1st 2018, extensive economic programs will take place in the non-confederate districts of Chusakju, Seogyong and Kaisiju. This decision comes in light of the very favorable statistics released by the Bureau of Economic Affairs earlier in April regarding the stability of the economic affairs of the Association. Director of Off-City Resources and Peoples Park Ah-reum stated “[The Council of National Direction] are understanding of the reality that improvement in infrastructure and economic abilities of non-city territories can only result in increasing prosperity for the nation. The fruits of our collective labor must be enjoyed by all, not just City subjects”. This statement was echoed by the Chief Director and the rest of the National Council.

This decision is the latest in a series of developmental programs that have targeted non-city territories of the Association; ever since the end of the Kim Sung-keun administration in 2001, such initiatives have become more and more frequent, with previous ones directed towards the promotion of the shipbuilding business in Seogyong as well as mining in Chusakju and Kaisiju. Although they have had varying degrees of success, they have been endorsed as the way forward by the current administration of Yoo Chul-Soon. It is the opinion of many experts that the Council of National Direction is aiming to spread economic growth across the Association, given that virtually all progress in that area has been limited to the Four Cities themselves.

These measures have found wide support among the local populations, although many have protested the extreme timetable for growth the Council proposes. However, it is not just them that seem to be hesitant about these initiatives, although for different reasons. Already, members of the City Councils of Yeosan and Daikin have lodged complaints towards their respective Council Presidents to protest these decisions, who feel that the money spent on the non-city economic development could be used to alleviate the concerns of those less fortunate in the Four Cities. A member of the Yeosan City Council that wished to remain anonymous, told reporters of the Irikon Daily the following; “We believe that these funds could be used to further improve the standing of the Four Righteous Cities. Enough resources have been spent on non-city territories already ”.

The Council of National Direction has stated that details regarding the programs will be revealed to the general public December 2017 while the City Councils of the Four Cities will be briefed regarding the detail version of the plans throughout their drafting period.

Lichtenwalt: "Imperialism and colonialism have no place in the 21st century"
Chairman warns Vjaarlandic president Adlerberg of negative consequences in the wake of the ultimatum to Kinzeria
Iekke Scharmeike
29 May, 2017 | Staalstaat, Workers' State of Austrosia

Image
Chairman Lichtenwalt denounced the ultimatum as an "act of undisguised aggression". (OKS PPGD)

Staalstaat, Austrosia — The Chairman of the Congress of Trade Unions has declared that "the Workers' State stands fully ready to support Kinzeria and her democratically-elected government in the face of this shameful attempt at bullying by the Vjaarlandic authorities". The announcement comes after the Vjaarlandic president Adlerberg has issued an ultimatum to the Nautasian country, ordering the handover of several key members of the Free Mburi People's Army, and threatening "the use of military force" shall Kinzeria refuses to comply.

"We are appalled by the Vjaarlandic government's diplomacy, and we are disappointed by the irresponsible behaviour of our western neighbour. Those so-called demands are simply unacceptable, and no self-respecting country should have to give in to such terms. But even then, with the best intents at heart, it is unreasonable to expect a rightfully-elected government to order the arrest of 54 individuals based solely on circumstantial evidence provided by a foreign and hostile nation that has shown itself willing to bully other sovereign states, time and time again. This so-called ultimatum is a sham, nothing but a thinly-veiled delayed declaration of war. We will always favour diplomatic efforts over violent escalations, but we cannot stand idle while our Kinzerian friend's sovereignty is threatened."

"We must not see this as an isolated incident, but as following a trend in the resurgence of ideologies from the past era. Many of the countries that like to see themselves as global powers believe Nautasia is still a playground for their twisted games. We have said it for a century and will continue to say it: Imperialism and colonialism have no place in the 21st century. We who wish to see the nations and peoples of the Nautasian continent bloom have a duty to protect them from the ill-intentioned reactionaries, those who desire to continue the nefarious exploitation of Nautasia."

Nine days ago, a mortar strike on the Vjaarlandic Mzambala Naval Base in Kinzeria left 15 dead and 88 wounded. The Free Mburi People's Army (FMPA), which has been fighting against the continued Vjaarlandic presence in Mburiland, has claimed responsibility for the attack on the next day. Following a week of silence by the Kinzerian authorities, president Adlerberg announced the Vjaarlandic government's terms in a televised address. According to the demands, Kinzeria has to hand over the FMPA's leader Gwanda Chiume, along with 54 individuals thought by Vjaarlandic intelligence to be part of the group, take active steps in dismantling the orgnasation's presumed networks in Kinzeria, as well as extraditing any other affiliated individuals.

Ever since Thomo Mpakati's election in 2003, Kinzeria has often been described as Austrosia's first state ally on the Nautasian continent, a sentiment often shared by confederal officials. A source at the Workers' Commissariat for Revolutionary Comradeship has told us that a formal treaty of friendship and cooperation was in the works and nearing completion, and fear that the growing crisis will lead to a delay in the the treaty's proposal to the Congress of Trade Unions.

With the Union of Ankoren having pledged diplomatic support for Kinzeria, and now the Workers' State warning Vjaarland of grave consequences should they make good on their threats, Kinzeria's refusal of the ultimatum's terms is strongly expected.

From Radio West Cedarbrook Overseas Service in Wrycova, this is the 9:00 PM News

Politics: Conservatives, Civic Alliance Savage Steinberg Over Isolationism
Former President Louis B. Steinberg's campaign of "Choose Cedarbrook" isolationism has riled responses from both President Feld, and the Civic Alliance presidential candidate, retired General Anatole-Louis Davis. President Feld addressing a Conservative rally at Steinhouse's Extrémité Nord Convention Center refuted the former President's claims that extended involvement outside the region would lead to undue foreign influence and interference in Cedarbrookese internal affairs, telling the Conservative faithful "President Steinberg claims to be a 'regionalist', but how would his approach of turning his back on some of our most important trade partners strengthen democracy and development in Conitia? Would he have us stand aside from advancement in technology if it originated overseas? Would he wait until threats to the region grow to the point where The Kramden alone would have to face them? By his own words, he declared that we stand ready to defend democracy in the Southern Ocean Basin, and in the spirit of bipartisanship this has been a cornerstone in my administration. It should be obvious to all clear thinking Cedarbrookese that good relations with the developed democracies off continent and outside the Southern Basin can only benefit the average family. I urge voters to see through the bafflegab of isolationism, and put the questions of fiscal constraint and balanced growth to the Libertarians in this election."

General Davis, attending the Western Port Yehoshua Civic Alliance Executive Committee meeting, again raised the possibility of Cedarbrookese observership in the Esquarian Community. "It's not clear at this point that there would be a direct benefit of such a status for the Kramden, but this is something I believe that should be explored. We are integrated in the Common Market, for all practical purposes through succession of Greenwich Area agreements, and this has not caused a flood of foreign goods to swamp our markets or throw Cedarbrookese workers out of their jobs. Observership appears to have been a benefit for Vjaar and Namorese companies, and in discussions with our exporters and tech executives, they have indicated that we could similarly benefit. As part of The Kramden That Can this is an issue for discussion when we put together a Civic Alliance administration.

Business: Lower Unemployment Stokes Inflation Fears, Prompts Consideration of Higher Interest Rates
As unemployment dropped to 4.3% at last report, financial analysts report fears of inflation. The rapid fall in unemployment, spurred by increased domestic car and truck production has also had the effect of raising futures prices for a wide range of commodities, from next year's malting barley crop through ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and into all segments of the energy sector. The Luziycan Lira remains at near record high levels against the Zug, initially spurred by political upheaval in Xiaodong and Northern Velkia, when transactions with importers and exporters for several countries in the region went to payments in Lira. Last week's comments by West Cedarbrook Central Bank Director Solomon Jonah that the bank's Stabilization Agency is reviewing a .25% - .50% increase in the prime commercial lending rate has also spurred lending demand among medium sized companies and within the service sector in hopes of financing at a more advantageous rate before any anticipated rate hike. Observers at the larger E. 6th Street firms, however, have noted an easing of fears, mostly due to likely resolution of conflicts on the continent in Caneja.

Weather: Early Hard Freeze Besets South, Central States

Crews Clear NR-87 In South State.
A mid-fall ice storm has struck parts of South and Central states for the last day. Currently shipping lanes are open for the ports of Har'Ris and Aytven in South State. Road closing are being battled throughout the upper Ebreo, Oiho, and upper Malawani valleys. NR-87 has been closed in South State from 65 miles west of Holon through Lebeau Township. NR-62 is closed from State Route 21 to NR77 in Central State, and additional utility crews are on the way to 6 East Kerguelen Bay townships. Creve Coeur is currently inaccessible from the east, west, and south. South State Governor James Prenevaou has declared a Level 1 Winter Driving Emergency from the Oiho River through the badlands townships, limiting travel to emergency and snow removal vehicles until further notice. Central State Governor Francois Ben-Moshe has declared a Level 2 Winter Driving Emergency through tomorrow from 100 miles south of Charleroi bounded on the west by the Drumond Township line and on the east by State Route 105. The airports in Charleroi and Holon have been closed overnight.

Overseas: External Affairs OK's Response to Angriff
The Department of External Affairs has granted an Exceptional Dispensation to the Cedarbrook Pan-Conservative Rabbinical Council to respond to the Teutonian publication "Der Angriff"'s allegation of laxity in Cedarbrookese religious practices in it's May 3rd edition. Communication with Teutonia is considered evidence of high treason, and often punishable by death. In their request, the CPRC plead the "need to counter dangerous disinformation, designed to sow heretical practices among Jewish communities in Nordania and elsewhere, for the benefit of the Ulrich junta". The response, authored by Dr. Armond Blaustein, General Manager of the CPRC's Outreach Division is being delivered to third parties for transmission to Der Angriff, and is expected to by characteristically terse, according to External Affairs. An assistant to Dr. Blaustein told RWC "Expect a short statement, along the lines of "We in West Cedarbrook will handle our own religious issues, thank you very much. And the shooting, if need be".

West Cedarbrook Is First Stop On Polonian Diplomatic Tour

Foreign Minister Moses Meets with Cedarbrookese Ministers
Azhar Sadi
May 30, 2017

Image

On Tuesday, Foreign Minister Olin Moses met with Cedarbrookese to discuss current diplomatic relations and changes that are necessary to move forward as friends. Minister Moses was greeted as soon as he got off his private jet. He was welcomed by a row of Cedarbrookese soldiers.

He next was transported in an official state limousine to meet with Secretary of External Affairs Vernon Kansky. In this meeting, a variety of topics were discussed from trade ties to the current situation of South Nautasia. Minister Moses stated that the meetings were "cordial and productive." Discussions involving trade between the two nations were also said to be productive and an agreement would be established within the next few days.

"The meeting I had today with Secretary Kansky was a meeting I was proud to be a part of," said FM Moses. "We spoke openly with each other on the prospect of becoming friendly neighbors across the sea. Hopefully going forward, this will only increase the prosperity and cooperation between our two great nations."

West Cedarbrook and the Polonian Queendom are semi-neighbors, with the only thing separating them being the Southern Ocean. Traditionally, Cedarbrook and Polonia have not maintained cordial relations, nor have they been bitter enemies. Both nations have, however, taken an interest in South Nautasia, with Polonia being its northern neighbor, and Cedarbrook being an unofficial protector of South Nautasia. If Cedarbrook and Polonia were to become cordial, if not allies, with each other, then that would bring a little stability to the Southern Ocean regions and Western Nautasia.

GOVERNMENT REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR VJAARLAND, BACKS ULTIMATUM TO KINZERIAN GOV'T

Image
Secretary for Foreign Affairs Robert Dov said
Vjaarland had "every right to act to preserve
its sovereignty".

DUNHAVEN - The Crethian government has formally backed the Vjaarlandic ultimatum to the government of Kinzeria regarding the extradition of of several leaders in the Free Mburi People’s Army.

At a press conference held today, Secretary for Foreign Affairs Robert Dov said that the extradition of "race-baiting terrorists was essential in order to achieve justice for the victims [of the Mzambala attack] and their families".

Mr. Dov said that it was "within reason" for a nation to act in order to uphold its national security, adding: "the government of Vjaarland worked to. It has every right to perserve its sovereignty, especially from terrorists".

He also criticized the government of Ankoren for "sticking its nose where it doesn't belong" and accused the government of churning out "blatant propaganda".

"The government of Ankoren can act as if it has the ability to project power all it wants. However, those in the civilized world recognize their hypocrisy. [State President Evren] Volkan cries of imperialism while his own government is raping, pillaging, murdering, and conquering neighboring states" Mr. Dov said.

"Blatant hypocrisy and empty threats have no place in diplomacy. If Volkan and his government wish to back terrorists, then I will order the Department of Foreign Affairs to designate them as a state that sponsors terrorist activity".

He also criticized the government of Austrosia. The Foreign Secretary said: "he government of a rogue state which has historically meddled in the affairs of this country is in no position to lecture members of the Free World".

"To think that a nation which bullies us has any authority to speak on an issue such as this, an issue which yet again shows the blatant hypocrisy of yet another rogue state".

Both the governments of Ankoren and Austrosia have raised concerns over the Vjaarlandic ultimatum and have likened it to imperialism.

A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs said it would be "reviewing the possibility" of sanctions against the Kinzerian government should it reject the ultimatum.

The Prime Minister's Office declined to comment.

"Our commitment to Vjaarland is unwavering, and as such we will consider all options when it comes to assisting them in this matter" the spokesperson said.

President Karl Simpsen of Pavonistade signed an executive order on Sunday which would place sanctions on the Kinzerian government should it fail to meet the deadline set out by President Freja Alderberg. Pro-Vjaarlandic groups within Crethia have called on the government to pursue similar measures.

The ultimatum, which was issued by President Adlerberg on Saturday, seeks to hold the FMPA accountable for their attack on the Mzambala Naval Base. Ms. Alderberg has demanded the extradition of some fifty four individuals affiliated with the separatist group, including FMPA head Gwanda Chiume. Over a dozen Vjaarlandic soldiers were killed in the Mzambala attack while dozens more were injured. The mortar attack took place on 20 May and has led to increased tensions between the Kinzerian and Vjaarlandic governments since.

Opposition parties have raised concerns over Mr. Dov's press conference.

Social Democrats leader Donal Menzies said the rhetoric coming from the nation's top diplomat was "absolutely undiplomatic" while Liberals leader Adela Sur said the Foreign Secretary's comments were "very dangerous" and "potentially damaging" to Crethia's diplomatic standing.

"Time and time again [Secretary for Foreign Affairs] Dov proves he is not suited for this position, yet [Prime Minister] Kerr gave it to him anyway and continues to allow a man as unprofessional as Dov occupy the office".

FARMERS 'MAY NOT BACK' PKR-NAT BUDGET, SOURCES SAY

DUNHAVEN - As Parliament returns from the recent recess observing the St. Kennet Public Holiday, sources from within the Farmers' Party have indicated the party may go-back on its supply agreement with the Kerr Coalition and vote against its budget.

A source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, within the party leadership said that provisions demanded by the National Party were "entirely unacceptable" and would "cause severe damage" to the rural regions of the country.

"As it stands, the demand from the Nationals that subsidies to farmers are cut are unacceptable. This is something we could never justify voting for" the source said.

The Farmers' Party also has concerns over funding for rural education, healthcare, and welfare initiatives that could also be cut under the PKR-National budget.

"The shift of funding to defense, national security, and senior benefits is of great concern as it draws significant resources away from areas that desperately need that funding".

"If this remains the case, we simply may not back the budget" the source said.

For the 2018 budget to pass Parliament, it must achieve a majority of the votes. This means it must receive the backing of 88 of the 175 MPs. Under the current supply agreement the minority coalition has with the Farmers' Party, they have 91 votes. However, without the backing of the Farmers' Party the coalition government will be unable to pass its budget as it only has 87 votes.

Other opposition parties have said they will vote against the proposed PKR-National budget.

The Prime Minister's Office declined to comment when asked about the potential collapse of the supply agreement.

MAYORS, COUNCILS TO BE SWORN IN TOMORROW

NATIONWIDE - Local elected officials will assume office across the country tomorrow following 23 April's local elections.

The April race saw a series of devastating defeats for the Progressive Conservatives and Republicans, who lost a total of 57 mayoral offices and 582 council seats nationwide. Among the loses were Crethia's five largest cities, where the PKRs lost both mayoral and council seats.

The PKRs have maintained they are prepared for the 2018 general election, but opinion polls have shown support for the party trailing the main opposition party, the Social Democrats.

The leader of the Social Democrats Donal Menzies hailed the results of the local elections as "a sign the Crethian people demand change" andh as promised to combat the "status quo where the far right holds the government hostage over every issue".

The PKRs were hit following a scandal that dogged the Kerr Government for weeks. The controversy first began after, a memo authored by Internal Secretary Erkanbal Andersen was sent to top staffers at the Internal Department, was published by the Dayly Examinour last Sunday. Mr. Andersen asked staffers to find ways crack down on foreign nationalism in Crethia.

The Internal Secretary singled out Lyonese separatists and requested staffers work with the Department of Culture, Tourism, and Sport to find a way to remove foreign symbols from publicly owned buildings. He singled out Lyonese political parties and indicated he believed they were separatist and damaging.

Prime Minister Kerr said there was "absolutely no room for bigoted policies" in his government and said that "this was never something we hoped to pursue".

Despite support from the Lyonese Government, Mr. Kerr's Progressives suffered an embarrassing defeat a year before the next general election.

If the municipal elections are indicative of anything, the Progressives will face an uphill battle going into the general election

United Irvadi Alliance looks set for second landslide as Irvadis head to polls
Voting is underway to elect representatives for the rest of Irvadistan, turnout is high according to Irvadi authorities.
Mehmet Erbakan
31 May, 2017, 17.00pm | Zahedan, Union of Ankoren

Irvadis voting in Qush Tepa this morning.

Elections are underway across Irvadistan, except for the south-west, to elect new representatives. 220 seats are being contested by over 20 parties, although polls have consistently found the United Irvadi Alliance in the lead. It is the first democratic election in Irvadi history, except for the south-west. An estimated 5.5 million people are eligible to vote.

Turn out is high across Irvadistan according to the Central Electoral Council, with 1.5 million votes already cast. Rumours have already begun to circulate about the UIA already far ahead in the results, but due to the early time this may well change.

Issues surrounding the campaigns aren’t much different from the vote in the former Provisional Authority; such as the new constitution, levels of freedom and democracy, security, the economy and possible unification with Ankoren.

The UIA has been running high in the polls as approval of the interim government continues to remain in the high 70s; the party form the Interim Government several days after the 5th May Revolution, dissolving the provisional authority and assuming responsibility over the entire country. A second major UIA victory would all but confirm a dramatic expansion in support for Islamic Collectivism in Irvadistan, and mark the greatest victory for the revolution since the defeat of the imperialists in 1926 after the Ankoreni Revolutionary War.

The Democratic Party is widely touted as becoming the official party of the opposition according to numerous party watchers across the voting centres. The Democratic Party, like the PAI vote has championed for a presidential republic, with great checks and balances, a free press and a so called “contribution to the democratisation of the continent.”

Security has been high across the country after a would-be suicide bomber was shot dead by Ankoreni soldiers in the city of Qalat Sukkar this morning. Ankoreni and Irvadi soldiers are present at large voting centres, that can accommodate thousands of voters.

Fatma, 55 and a bank clerk in the capital Qufeira said “I am going to vote for the UIA, they’re strong and security and that’s what we need now. They also have the most detailed planned for the economy and reconstruction and that’s important too, we need to move on.”

Abdul, 23 and a former soldier who was wounded in battle also intends to the vote the UIA, “security and unification are my key issues, we need to be bigger than we are now if we are to truly defeat terrorism. I don’t want men who died fighting terrorism to die in vain and that’s what will happen if the Democratic Party wins, they’re soft on terrorism.”

Samir, 36 and a doctor however said he’d vote for the Democratic Party, “we have freedom now, liberty and justice, I don’t think the UIA will protect those things.”

A UIA victory is a victory for the revolution

Over the past two years, Nautasia has seen Islamic Collectivism (or Iscol to go by the foreign terminology) surge. Pisdara’s largest party, the Islamic People’s Movement is Islamic Collectivist and is deeply popular, in Irvadistan the UIA dominated the short-lived PAI, now it is set to dominate all-Irvadi politics. A second victory for the UIA would all but guarantee the revolution’s spread to Irvadistan and represent the greatest victory for the revolution since 1926.

The Union as a result now stands as the undisputed power of Nautasia, any perhaps a rising power globally. With Pisdara and Irvadistan embracing the teachings of the Ankoreni founding fathers, it is possible for further waves of the revolution saving Kraq and Rifat. It is sad, however, that it required a devastating war waged by Wahabi extremists to unleash the mass awakening of Nautasians to their identity as a unique civilisation, but one that has been needed.

The revolution has waited over 90 years for success and now we see it. We can thank our masterful government and the bravery of Pisdaris and Irvadis in embracing Islamic Collectivism when the imperialists and their puppets would do and did all, they could to halt the spread of the revolution.

State President Volkan, in his vindication promised that the Union would lead the way towards a new Nautasia from the ashes of the so-called Caliphate and we are witnessing it with Nautasia’s democratic prowess in play today in Irvadistan. He is the founding father of a new Nautasia and our great statesman.

The results of the vote are expected later this evening or in the early hours of tomorrow morning. However, depending upon turn out in the urban seats, the results may take longer. The country is using an electronic voting system, as well as ink marks to identify those who have voted already.

There have been issues with some people being eligible to vote twice due to confusion over returning families to the country from refugee camps. An estimated 1.9 million people have returned to their homes since December 2016, causing issues with identification and confirmed addresses.

More as the story develops.

Can Kaona-Phaonam repeat its Coupe d'Esquarium VII success?

BORNEUNG - Fresh from a 0-0 draw with Arkiasis the Red Elephants are looking for a decisive win, similar to the string of victories achieved at the Coupe d'Esquarium VII - but such goal may be out of their reach this time.

At the Coupe d'Esquarium VII Kaona-Phaonam did phenomenally well for a debuting team winning five of six games and reaching the quarter finals. However, at the last Coupe d'Esquarium Kaona-Phaonam were against much weaker opponents whilst this year their opponents - Arkiasis, Montecara and Pisdara - are much tougher opponents.

"We may have drawn to Arkiasis, but that doesn't stop the fact that at the moment we could have and should have won against the Wolves." Team captain Khaopong Umponmaha said to the Kaona Sports today. "I can only hope we can beat the Montecaran King Killers. It will be tough, as the King Killers have a reputation as a good team with a good track record, especially under their former manager Gaudènz Crésce. That said, last time we managed to advance to the quarter finals and the King Killers didn't, so hopefully we have it in us to beat them decisively".

Manager Songwut Chaipan has said he is "confident" Kaona-Phaonam will cruise to victory. "We had a bit of first game jitters, but it seems most teams had a bad first game. If we play well and the King Killers not so much - which could be possible, they have a new manager afterall - then we may be in for a victory. ".

Kaona-Phaonam will face off the King Killers later today.

Pisdara “may go beyond the quarterfinals this edition”, says coach
In a short interview today, Pisdari national football coach Fabrice Moreau stated that the Pelicans “may go beyond the quarterfinals this edition. Yes, we tied with Montecara our first game, but it is a better result than last season, and I think morale is way better this time around”. The Pelicans, who play against Arkiasis tomorrow, are hoping that this edition will finally see them in the top four. “We were so close at CdE VI, it only makes sense that we try to aim for at least that”, stated captain Ekur Me-En-Nuna, who also said he was “nervous, but confident” about playing against Arkiasis. The Arkiasian team came second in CdE VI, before sliding down to 14th in CdE VII. As they also tied (0-0) in their first match against Phikam-Kaona, it is rather unknown whether the Arkisians will rebound or stay in their current position.

The Pelicans are placing that a win against Arkisias will boost morale and send the Pisdaris into the Round of 16, where they hope to continue to dominate and maybe even win the Coupe. “That’s not really our goal”, clarified coach Moreau. “As long as we get back into the quarterfinals, I’ll be happy. But if it happens, by some grace, then I sure won’t be disappointed, that’s for sure!”

Deputy Naram-Sin tables bill calling for general elections and separate citizenship, causing constitutional debate
Deputy for Sakar Mashda Naram-Sin (GSUP/NFLP) has tabled his self-named “Constitutional Reform and Sovereignty Act” (or CRSA) for debate in the Legislature, where it was promptly defended and attacked. Naram-Sin’s proposed bill, which was being drafted since the failure to nationalize Loup-CGT’s assets in early April, would fix the date for local elections to being held alongside legislative elections, as well as, most notably, create a separate Pisdari citizenship unconnected to Ainin’s laws on the matter (the status quo currently sees all persons born or residing in Pisdara as Aininian citizens).

This part of the bill caused some heated discussion, with Deputy Jean-Luc Bruneau (PUA/KTA) calling it “childish and stupid”, with independent Deputy Anunnaki Namzi stating that the call for a separate citizenship was little more than a way to re-open the nationalization issue, as Naram-Sin’s proposed citizenship reform could be used to bar Loup-CGT from the country and therefor claim its property. Deputy Fatima Attar (AsP!/AP!) focused on the merged elections proposed by the CRSA, insinuating that “Deputy Naram-Sin is a sore loser who can not get over the fact that the communal councils are currently majority-held by parties that disagreed with the nationalization of Loup-CGT and used the powers granted to them by the Constitution.” She continued, stating, “And I would like to ask the Deputy, you do understand that if your bill was passed by this Legislature, that you would inadvertently postpone a local election to 2019, keeping these parties in power locally for longer, or do you wish to collapse a functioning national government and call an early election for petty reasons?” She also called out the Pisdari citizenship proposal as “poorly thought out and beyond the powers of this chamber regardless.”

It seems Deputy Attar was correct in calling the CRSA beyond the powers of the Legislature. Speaker Michel Desmarais confirmed that “the proposed Constitutional Reform and Sovereignty Act will affect and amend the Constitution directly, and as such must first be deliberated and agreed upon by the Supreme Court of the Aininian Republic. Only until the Supreme Court approves the legality of this document can this debate re-commence.” The Legislature accepted, somewhat reluctantly outside of the Patriotic Front, to send the bill to the Supreme Court in Huimont. Deputy Naram-Sin states he will make his case to the court, with the Patriotic Front supporting him (although Speaker and political ally Shadar Kabari (RUI/MPI) seems to be dragging his feet, calling the CRSA a “work in progress”). Almost all the other parties represented have shown disdain for the bill, with Speaker Shu Durul (KEH/PAS) summarizing the sentiment up after leaving the Legislature for the day: “We agree it should be discussed in the Court, but hopefully that is where it will end”.

The Supreme Court have yet to decide on a date for the reading of the bill, but stated that it had approved hearing the proposal in and of itself.

Patriots draw 1-1 with the Xiao
Image
The match

HWANGGUM, TOKSAN - Despite the hopes for the Patriots to defeat the Xiaodongese team today, the Patriots have tied the match one to one, after Xiao forward Xi Chengji scored a goal with seconds left to go in the match.

The match
The match was initially uneventful at first. At the sixth minute, Kuang Biao attempted to score a goal against the Patriots, but was prevented from advancing far by James Rostov's defense. Rostov swiftly passed the ball to Tyrone Dobrev, and at the eighth minute, attempted to score a goal, but was repulsed by goalkeeper Shen Panmin. Shen passed the ball to Yu Xuesong, who then passed the ball towards Xi Chengji.

Xi attempted to score a goal ten minutes in, but was repulsed by James Rostov. Rostov then passed the ball over to Jung, who in turn passed it to Gregory Todorov. Todorov managed to score a goal at the twelve minute mark, causing great celebration among the Luziycan fans in the stands.

This greatly demoralized the Xiaodongese team, but in spite of this, Wang Jingjing passed the ball to forward Hu Youkang, who attempted to score a goal at the seventeen minute mark, but was repulsed by Patriot goalkeeper An Grigor. An passed the ball towards Andrei Rusik, who in turn passed it towards Song, who at the twenty-two minute mark attempted to score a goal, but was repulsed by Wang Jingjing, who seized control of the ball.

Jingjing passed the ball back to Xi Chengji, who at the twenty-eight minute mark attempted to score, but was prevented from doing so by A.B. Normal. Normal passed the ball to Sandra Todorov, who at the thirty minute mark made an attempt to score, but missed the goalposts by a mile. As a result, Duo Bingtian seized control of the ball, and passed the ball over to midfielder Qing Yuanchao. Yuanchao then passed the ball over to Kuang Biao, Biao attempted to score a goal at the thirty-six minute mark, before Mario Rusenov took control of the ball.

Rusenov attempted to score another goal at the forty-two minute mark, but was rebuffed by Yuanchao. Despite efforts by the Xiaodongese team to score another goal, the half ended before Chengji could score another goal. Thus, the half ended 1-0 in favor of the Patriots.

After the half resumed, the Luziycan Patriots and the Xiaodongese team became more resistant to attacks: despite efforts at the sixty-one minute mark by Xiao forward Xi Chengji and at the seventy-one minute mark by Tyrone Dobrev, there was little advancement until just seconds towards the end of the match, Xi Chengji managed to break through the Patriotic lines of defense, tying the match 1-1.

Analysis
Captain Jung told reporters that "while we have prepared hard in our fight against Xiaodong, we were amazed at how well the Xiaodongese were able to play. It is quite clear that we were in for a difficult match, and while it was quite fun and interesting, we have to improve our efforts if we want to have any chance of making it into the next round [of the CdE]."

"I have hopes that on our next match [against Lanos], we will be able to break out of our Group, and hopefully, we will make it all the way to the finals," Jung stated.

Coupe d'Esquarium VIII - Xiaodong edges a second draw against Luziyca
June 2, 2017
By Li Boda

The Xiaodongese team celebrating a last minute goal by Xi Chengji

Borneung, Toksan - In the second match in a row the Xiaodongese team has drawn against the Luziycan Patriots in a nail biting match that saw Xi Chengji score a surprise goal in the last seconds of the match.

The match initially started badly for the Xiaodongese side as the Patriots when 9 minutes in Gregory Todorov scored a goal for the Luziycan side whilst the Xiaodongese team failed to break through the Luziycan defence. The match soon became bogged down between both sides with Luziyca maintaining its lead until the last seconds of the match when Xi Chengji scored Xiaodong's (and his own) second goal of the Coupe bringing the match to a draw to the delight of Xiaodongese fans.

Manager Chen Yongzhi said he was "pleased" with how the Xiaodongese team had played. "We didn't win, which was a massive disappointment. But we did play better than we did against Lanos, and don't forget that the Patriots are one of the best teams - the fact we drew against them is a positive sign moving forward." Chen singled out Xi Chengji as the "hero" of the match but emphasised that the Xiaodongese team "all did very well."

The other Group E match saw Nevanmaa beat Lanos 2-1, the first match not to be a draw in Group E. Meanwhile in Group A both Arkiasis and Kaona-Phaonam beat their respective opponents Pisdara and Montecara by a 1-0 margin. In Group B Atlia kept up its winning streak giving Fjalland a second defeat with Atlia scoring 3 goals to Fjalland's 2. Alemannia was unable to match its debut losing 0-2 to the last Coupe's champions Ainin. Group C saw Namor handily beat Daecon by a 5-3 margin, whilst Toksan was giving a thrashing 4-1 defeat by Pavonistade. Senria beat East Cortoguay 0-1 under suspicious circumstances, considering they lost their last game. Meanwhile Vyvland beat Korizland with a comfortable 0-1 victory.

The next game will be on the 3rd with Xiaodong facing against Nevanmaa.

Social Democrats Propose Abortion, Divorce Law Reforms

Johannes Lang
2 June 2017

Social Democratic Party leader Matthias Brügger announces the party's controversial reforms of Holstein's divorce and abortion laws at a party conference.

Wittburg: The Social Democratic Party have announced a new series of reforms for Holstein's divorce and abortion laws at a party conference in Wittburg today.

Party leader Matthias Brügger said that he had been approached by various family organisations as well as individuals who said that the government needed to review it's divorce and abortion laws and that reform was needed.
"We have come up with proposals that would improve the rights of men and women across Holstein," he said. "We are looking to not only improve access to abortions for women but also involve men in the process and to help couples better make life changing decisions. We are also looking to make divorce fair and equitable for both parties and to reform how the family courts system deals with divorce cases and associated litigation."

Holstein's current abortion laws have remained virutally unchanged since they were introduced in 1958, with women able to access abortions if the mother's life is at risk, her physical or mental health is at risk as well as in the case of fetal defects and rape. Women can also access abortions for socio-economic factors but face restrictions. Brügger said that the current laws were outdated and needed reform.
"Our laws were written nearly six decades ago and we haven't looked at them since," he said. "They're in desperate need of improvement. We want to be able to give women full access to abortions without restrictions."

The proposed reforms outlined by the Social Democratic Party would see full access for abortions for socio-economic factors and on request for women, with the party seeking to make amendments to the current legislation to implement these reforms. Women seeking abortions for socio-economic factors would still need to prove that they could not provide for the baby if it was born, but those that couldn't get an abortion under existing laws would now be able to do so. In addition, the reforms would also see an extension of the cut off point for abortions from 25 weeks to 35 weeks. Women under 18 years of age would no longer require parental permission to have an abortion and would have their privacy protected under new law changes. Brügger said that the government would also create a new health program to educate men and women about abortion and bring couples together to make the right choice for them.
"We often think that it's the woman's sole choice to choose whether or not she has an abortion but we have forgotten that it's not only her that is affected by the decision she makes but also her partner," she said. "This program would involve both the father and the mother of the child and educate them about what is required to raise a child and also about what happens during abortions. We want our citizens to make informed choices regarding important decisions."

Brügger also said that both the mother all the father could engage in what would be term a "financial abortion" if the couple could not agree together to have an abortion or not. He said that the government would draft a new law that would outline the legal obligations for both parents in the event that neither of them could agree to raising the baby or to have an abortion. The proposed law would require men not wishing to raise the child to sign away custody of the child to the mother without legal obligations to provide financial support for the mother and child. If the father wanted the child, the mother would be legally obligated to carry the child to term before signing off any legal responsibilities for the child after it was born.

The Chairwoman of the Holstein Women's Association (FvH), Mila Gassmann, said that she welcomed the changes to abortion laws granting women greater access to abortion but said that she was "deeply concerned" about the proposals for financial abortions.
"We've been working with the Social Democratic Party for nearly a century advancing the rights of women and men," she said. "It is extremely surprising and deeply concerning so see them start throwing around ideas regarding women being forced to carry a baby to term against her will. To me it seems like there's absolutely no point in having these extra provisions for abortions if women would be forced to have a baby against her will anyway." She also criticized the concept of financial abortions, suggesting that it would encourage "deadbeat dads" and put extra financial pressure on women.
"Having men, who are still earn more than women do, remove themselves from their responsibility to provide for their children would put an immense amount of financial pressure on single women who are already going to be pressured by the expense of providing for a new child as well as find it difficult to find work. It is really concerning to see such policies being presented by a party that fought hard to get basic rights for women."

National People's Party (NVP) leader Othmar Trümpi also criticized the proposed laws, saying that it would result in more single parent families.
"Studies have shown that a child without a mother or a father in their life suffers from developmental issues throughout their childhood," he said. "It's bordering on criminal that the SDP would encourage this."

Divorce laws would also be revised under the proposed reforms. Currently married couples are entitled to half of all property owned by the couple regardless of who owned it prior to the marriage or who purchased it during the marriage. According to government statistics, in 2016, around 85% of all child custody cases that were contested had custody of the child or children awarded to the mother. Brügger said that child custody cases especially were something that needed to be changed.
"We're seeing plenty of fathers, good, honest, hard working fathers losing custody of the children that they love and adore because we have a family courts system stuck in old fashioned and out of date attitudes towards parenting," he said. "There's plenty of evidence that suggest either, or both parents, can become unfit parents so why should we assume that the father is the unfit parent in custody cases?"

The reforms to custody laws would see mandates for courts to change how they deal with custody cases. Rather than fathers having to essentially prove that they are capable of looking after children based on interactions with their children and time spent looking after children prior to the divorce, parents would have to prove that they are fit to look after their children. Among the new conditions outlined in the proposed reforms would be income to meet the expenses require for looking after children, how often and how long parents would work for in addition to suitable accommodation for the child. Fathers and mothers who lose custody of their children would also have the option to legally forego financial support obligations.

Divorcing couples would also have property divided by ownership, with jointly owned property split equally. Personal finances would be split along account holders, with joint accounts split according to who contributed the most.

FvH chairwoman Mila Gassmann said that she was unsure about the divorce proposals but said that she was concerned about how women would fare in trial cases.
"We could see a lot of women end up being disadvantaged by the proposed reforms in terms of child custody and the ability to provide for them after the divorce is settled," she said. "There are a lot of problems with these reforms." She said that it was more concerning for divorcing women who had children rather than women who were childless, although childless women would still be disadvantaged.
"I would like to see some changes made to these proposed reforms in order for women to be more protected."

National Council for Men (BM) chairman Nicolas Schweingruber said that whilst he supported the proposals, he said that the SDP's proposals for child custody could result in even more expenses for men.
"Having to prove that you are a fit parent is what is basically being done in the family court system already," he said. "All this does is prolong the hearings which results in greater financial losses for fathers." Schweingruber that he supported it in principle but he said it would not work well in practice.
"Until we can figure out a more equitable system, we should instead focus around the legal issues surrounding financial custody of children and the legal obligations for fathers to support them regardless of whether he wants to or not." Schweingruber said that extra funding or welfare for fathers paying child support payments from the government would help men who are currently unable or barely able to meet their legal obligations.
"The government and the SDP should seriously consider financial support for fathers from the federal government."

SDP leader Matthias Brügger said that the proposals would be debated within the party caucus and amended before being announced as official policy. He said that getting essential policies adopted by the party was essential before making changes to other aspects of the reforms.
"We want to make sure that these reforms provide the most equitable result for men and women across Holstein."

Modernisation of Public Transport System in Farres Underway
Juan Pablo Obregón
2/6/55 - Farres, Farres Prefecture

Image

On Tuesday this week, our National Institute of Public Transport (NIPT) passed a referendum to modernize the present public transport systems currently available in Farres. In the referendum, 4,000 citizens of Farres answered, and 89% of them thought it'd be a good idea to refurbish and modernize our public transport system. Most of the ones voting yes, wanted especially to modernize our subway transport system in Farres, because it 'lacked international standard'. Our National Institute of Public Transport have said that the modernisation of the subway system in Farres will commence in about 1 week. Several stations will be closed off due to construction works, at least 15 new subway cars will be purchased, modern enough to match the 'international standard'.

The leader of this upcoming project, Stefano Tenorio, made the following statement: "The re-construction of the major public transport systems of Farres will begin with the refurbishment and modernization of the subway in Farres. It is currently unknown how long time this project will take however, it is estimated that it will be finished somewhere in early Autumn. The cost of this projecty is also significant, and it may lead to a tax rise". Stefano also says that it is a strategic military advantage to have modern and effecient subways systems. They allow effecient transport and placement of troops or reinforcements in case of a war in Caneja. The future introduction of modern subway cars will increase the travel speed, allowing for maximum time saving by taking the subway.

Regarding the closed stations. Those who will be closed down for modernization next week are: Cotilla Station, Óscar Station, Lucas Station, Unidade Station. The four major subway stations of Farres will be closed next week until further notice. The ones currently using those subways as means to get to their job will be redirected to minor stations surrounding the stations but, we, the Government, promises that following this modernization, the subway system in Farres will be faster and more time saving than ever. Now, we may only wait and hope that this project will not take too much time and that it finishes as early as possible.

BREAKING: Vjaarlandic warplanes, missiles strike Kinzeria as ultimatum passes
Adlerberg warns of further strikes if conditions not met

VMS Arvidshavn firing a cruise missile towards
Kinzeria

LYKKESTAD, KINZERIA - Vjaarlandic forces bombed targets inside Kinzeria early Thursday morning, just one day after the deadline for President Adlerberg’s ultimatum passed without a response.

The official Ministry of War report states that the operation was carried out by elements of the Vjaarlandic Air Force, in addition to the Vjaarlandic Navy destroyers VMS Arvidshavn and Øksberg. Vjaarlandic forces began the strikes around 03:00 with an attack on Kinzeria’s air defense systems, targeting surface-to-air missile batteries and radar installations. Several airfields were subsequently bombed, including the air bases at Lykkestad and Nchalo. Warplanes and ship-launched cruise missiles then struck a comprehensive range of militarily significant targets, including artillery batteries, command and control centers, communication lines, and ammunition and supply depots. The headquarters of the Kinzerian Intelligence Service and a number of Free Mburi People’s Army training camps were also bombed.

At least one confirmed instance of air-to-air combat occurred during the bombing, when a Kinzerian JFz-37 was shot down by a Vjaarlandic JAS 49 near Nchalo Air Base. According to the official Vjaarlandic account, the JFz-37 attempted to engage the Vjaarlandic fighter with an air-to-air missile, but the weapon failed to lock. The Vjaarlandic pilot then fired a missile at the Kinzerian fighter, destroying it. The Kinzerian pilot did not eject.

President Adlerberg gave a statement following the strikes, warning that “if Mpakati does not immediately comply with the terms that this government has established, Vjaarlandic forces will continue combat operations in Kinzeria. While I do not hope for war, I will take whatever measures are necessary to secure Vjaarlandic interests in Nautasia.”

The president also addressed the increasing involvement of foreign powers in the growing crisis: “Ankoren and Austrosia have no business interfering in Vjaarland’s historic sphere of influence.... These rogue states have shown time and again that they stand in fundamental opposition to the interests of the Vjaarlandic people.” However, Mrs. Adlerberg also welcomed the support of the Crethian and Pavonistadian governments, adding that “only by standing together can we defend our interests and defeat terror.”

The bombing comes one day after the expiration of the President’s ultimatum, which demanded Kinzeria’s extradition of 54 FMPA leaders by midnight on Wednesday. The ultimatum was issued in the wake of a deadly FMPA attack on Mzambala Naval Base which left 15 Vjaarlandic soldiers dead and a further 88 wounded. The Kinzerian government has, as of yet, remained silent, declining to address the Vjaarlandic ultimatum and refusing media requests for comment. Mrs. Adlerberg had previously stated that she would “not rule out the use of military force” if the deadline was not met.
