Dragonkinians all over Ruskarkand participate, some using artificial weapons like guns and knives, whilst others take more direct approaches and use their inhumane tools that were given to them at birth, such as their mass, their claws and talons, their teeth and their fire. We love it, and it makes for great competition!

More often than not said fights will be a one off between two amatuers to settle a matter of honour, although the proffesional league is watched by nearly every Thespinian. Of course, the fights follow the Thespinian Code of Honour, but they can still get very violent. The winner of the proffesional league is often given the title of Royal Champion.
Jousting is also popular in Thespinia, and it has it's own proffesional league, although it is much older than the Gladiators. Generally the combatants fight in thier own coat of arms or their House's, and it's not uncommon to see them bear some token on a lady on thier armour or lance. Jousting is still seen as an incredibly romantic sport, and the overall winner of the Royal Tourney is crowned Royal Champion of Horse.

No such public event is legal. Instead citizens are allowed to duel, only if one party has been proved to have done some kind of harm to the other. This is usually done at a trail, and when the first party is charged they can be challenged to a duel by the victim. If the first partly accepts, they duel in private courtyards suppervised by a judge (checks for any cheat, fairplay, ect) and a medical staff. The two parties then duel by sword, till one is defeated (not nessesarily killed but disarmed). If the victum wins, usually killing the other party, they have resored their sense of honor and personnal justice. Should the first party win, depending on their crime (if this is a civil matter) they are free to go. If they were charged with a criminal offence, the fact that they agreed to duel can earn then prision time being shaved off.

The only rules of the battles are that Gladiators must be volunteers, and that the Gladiators cannot kill each other unless they both give a verbal and written consent to the fact that they are aware of the mortal danger. Gladiators who kill when they are not in a battle to the death are immediately shot and killed by the many Imperial guards who stand watch during the spectacles.
