How Did You Name Your Nation?

Named after Commorragh, a fictional city from 40k, which in turn is a corruption of Gomoragh. An ancient city of sin.

As you can see I first went on NS many years ago. At that point my first Nation was "Midgar and Junon", named and themed after Final Fantasy VII. I then made SquareDisc City, also intended as a Final Fantasy Nation and specifically a flying city and colony of Midgar and Junon, named after Squaresoft of course. I never did any RPing with either.

In time I stopped playing NS, then several years later I started playing another similar app, and over a few years RPed with two IC Nations on that, the second being the United Pokemon Types. Last spring that app had a period of extended downtime, during which I and some others came over to NS. I was astonished to find the Nations here that I had not logged onto in at least six years were still present!

Midgar and Junon I couldn't really work into a Pokemon Nation, but SquareDisc City I could. The Psychic Type needed a new home, to replace the floating continent it had previously had, and I decided a flying city, called SquareDisc City, would fit the bill. Though it differs in detail, it's true to the concept from half a decade ago.

ICly, SquareDisc City in the United Pokemon Types is named for its shape in plan view, a squircle, being a hybrid of a square and a disc.

I was going for a name that evoked a sense of majesty and this is what I came up with. I can see it becoming somewhat cheesy to continually say "Grandeur North" so I'll most likely address my nation simply as GN.

IC: It's Reonarian for "Great Haven" because when the first emperor, Altair drove away the human supremacists that were enslaving the solachettes, he created the nation of Epicsauce and vowed to protect it from anyone who wanted to kill off his species, making Epicsauce a safe haven for solachettes to live without fear of being killed by ignorant humans that believed they were demons.

Its was originality to be "Baltimore County" but for some reason you can have 1 word for your nation when i was founded so just to Baltimore but it taken and i just named after the most important city in the county Towson.

IC: "Chelta" is derived from the name of the island (Chelta is a large island) in Farsian, the language of our indigenous people.

IC: "Nezok" means "Sapient reptile." The suffix "-atu" is added to all country names in the language. King Krynath Rauzanobis wanted to unite the tribes of our archipelago. He made a name that would show that all dinosaurs of the archipelago could live peacefully.

IC: British settlers named Carena after it's wisest and well known tribe, The Carisena Tribe, and Carena kept the name even after it gained independence from Britain.
