What I found funny was the suicide by police custody since I am roleplaying a fairly authoritarian nation that disregards many human rights if they're murderers or other really bad criminals.

Logically it would run off as a percentage of your death statistics, not your actual population.
Like how Russia's is 14.3 deaths per 1000 population, then the deaths listed in the breakdown would be percentages of that 14.3 per thousand.

We don't follow in-game data, which is somewhat bland in causes of death anyways (getting lost, malnourishment) in a nation that would suffer from the above. The most well known odd COD would be when HM President Von Arkov was shot, fell into train tracks and was run over, before being electrified by the live current with the body catching fire. The organizers of the state funeral had a hard time reorganizing the body.
