The modification of either Kourallia's or Grad's IFV (I don't know who made the original seen as both did something with it). Righto, now to 'splain what I did.

Modifications-
Made into Hovercraft
Made longer to accommodate 10 rather than 8 man squads.
Pushed back the front view port 2 pixels (I know not a huge deal but it's good to record these things)
New Things-
Made the Armored HMG mount.

Now on to the Q&C...
This is not a critique of hover vehicles. So please don't go realism wanking all over the thread, because I'm not doing something realistic in MT (I prefer to play pretty far into the PMT). The biggest things I'm concerned about is how my lift fan assembly looks, and how the gun-sight looks. I intend on expanding this, making a Command, SPG, and AAA variants of this vehicle , and I also am attempting to make smoke launchers, possibly landing struts as well.

Finally, credits to Grad or Kour (or both) for making, at the very least the chassis if not most of the vehicle.

And a quick question, how the hell do you repair the hover fan assemblies and such when they get hit by a landmine? I mean tank tracks and wheels are pretty easy but that seems like it'd be a bitch to maintain/repair. What year do you RP those in anyway?

Huh. Good point. IEDs then would prolly be a problem (remote detonated IEDs that is) Seems like the fan would be delicate enough to make totally disabling the vehicle possible with like, a mortar shell with an alarm clock duct taped to it lol.

Yeah, big disadvantage of hover vehicles. They can go over most types of Terrain, but God only knows how much it costs to maintain those fancy components.

Lighten the silver grey a couple of notches and darken the green by the same amount and see how it looks then.

Never got a decisive vote on AUG of QBZ so they are bot still options, but I'm leaning towards QBZ but that would make a rail grip impractical. Also thinking of having a G36 sight.

I like 'em... My only suggestion is because you removed all the running gear to make them "hover vehicles" you inevitably took some of the floor out of the fighting compartment, thus making them flying sardine cans. You oughta put back say 4-8 pixels or so of height to provide the visual of enough interior space for troops to stand almost upright inside, since they should be able to do that to move in and out with their equipment and weapons at the ready. Unless your troops are recruited with a height requirement shorter than 5 feet tall, they will likely not want to go in the battle taxi.

Similar situation in history - M113 vs. VC IED traps in Vietnam. The aluminum hulls, despite being cheaper and lighter, burned like a M*F* when hit. Troops did not want to be cooked alive so they rode on top and added a few extra hundred pounds of unauthorized weight (sandbags) thus making the 113's perform not as well overall. If your guys can't stand up and be protected in their vehicle, you'll have a lot of hull-riders instead of hoverborne units.

Imcidentally, when the frigate USS Stark was shot with an Iraqi Exocet in the Persian Gulf in the 80's (1987, to be exact), it burned like a M*F* because she was made mostly of aluminum in her superstructure and no modern kevlar layering in vital areas. All the Oliver Hazard Perry FFG-7 class were equally as vulnerable.

Bottom line, unless you employ "little people" squads in your hover APC corps, your hulls need a tad more height, and you need good thick Chobham and Kevlar to protect 'em.

The ground pressure can trigger a weight sensitive mine or its movement can disturb the trigger mechanism of a Bouncing Betty which would shoot right up and blast the hull. It can easily affect magnetic antitank mines or even the new American smart munitions which could detect all manner of seismic or magnetic field or movement changes to trigger a shot. The hover vehicle would have to fly above the ground effect (air cushion) that it relies on to travel with stability at speed, in order to avoid contemporary mines, and there's still a fluke chance that they'd go off.

Never mind that for a world with hover equipment, some demented genius is trying to devise something that makes 'em crash and burn ;-)
