Anime is quite popular amongst the youth. In other words: it contributes to our economy.

What's the status of anime/manga in your nation?

Animated programmes and comics are a popular genre, but they are all locally produced. Anime and manga, like most of galactic entertainment, are literally too alien to be popular here. Also, tentacle monsters are right out.

Anime and manga certainly has a fan base in the TBRE, but it is not particularly large.

Anime is popular among most people, and there are some stores that sell anime here and there. As for manga, it's not really that popular here, people here prefer Western comics.

Since Orwellian Haruhiism, which involves a Jingoistic worship of Haruhi Suzumiya, is the national religion, it plays an important part of everyday life; however, government censorship/brainwashing makes it so that no other form of the medium exists, so most Suzumiyans would call anime/manga "Suzumiya-art" since they are unaware of any anime or manga having ever existed.

Although anime is not very popular here, do to our being geographically close to Japan, we adopt their animation and comic style. So our cartoons and comics look like Anime and Manga.

Depends on the plot,Mackonians do not really care how you draw a cartoon so long as it has enough explosions and insanity in it.

Anime and manga are fairly popular in the ANFZ, especially among teenagers and young adults. In the larger cities (the ones that have been rebuilt after the nuclear cataclysm that rocked our nation during its founding, at least), there are several specialty shops that sell lots of anime- and manga-related products.

We have our own derivative of it, however "Spanime" puts an emphasis on being occasionally avant-garde and it bears some aspects of Magical Realism. It separates itself from anime seeing as how it sees some genres of the original anime to be aesthetically meaningless and too commercial...kitsch, or at least some less commercial Spanime producers. Another major difference is that the cultural hegemony in it is Latin American. The same applies to manga derivatives. Another derivative is realistic, however unlike the original anime, it is far more crude with our reality. Our economic status is lower than it is in it's land of origin, so social and economic problems are a major theme here.

Pornographic animation/Manga is legal for the adult population, however the depiction acts of un-natural sex (bestiality, tentacles, male-on-female rape, sadism, exaggerated body features, sex with minors) is banned.
