Holiday in your country

Postby Flinsland » Fri Sep 21, 2012 7:44 pm

This specifically deals with the Winter holiday season.

How did holidays start in your country?

What do civilians do on holidays?

Are there any special occasions?

1. Holidays were around since our founding inception, our original founding settlers were Judeo-Christians.

2. Citizens are typically gay during the holidays spending money etc.

3. Holiday music, tv specials, movies, churchgoing.

We don't have winters in Tsvarchi.

Holidays started in many different ways. Most are cultural or ethnic festivals.

Citizens do many things during a holiday, largely depending on the nature of the event. Partying is the norm.

The festival of the year is a remarkable occasion. Pretty much one of the most incredible spectacles ever witnessed.

Neither holiday is culturally relevant, nor are they officially recognized holidays, but the few Christians and Jews do observe them. To the vast majority of the country they are just normal days.

We celebrate the Winter Solstice in Dagnia. In fall, but pretty close to Winter we also celebrate a harvest festival, which is a week-long celebration.
Wait an hour, and it will be now again

How did holidays start in your country?

generally they predate the existence of all countries.

What do citizens do on holidays?

eat, share and demonstrate generosity and creativity. which in a sense is of course the basis of what we do at all times. it is at the primal points of the year, that special emphasis is placed on doing so.
the first day of each subdivision the year is equally devided into, is called feast day, and on that day, the generality of the populas meet to set the agendas for their councils.

Are there any special occasions?

all the primal points of the year, the solstices and equanoxes, are considered equally "special". as are the first day of each of the subdivisions our year is devided into.

i would say the principal characteristic of midwinter's day, or the winter solstice, which we regard each of these days as being the center of their seasons, rather then the beginning and end of them, ah, but of the winter solstice, is a rememberance of primative times, and a giving of thankfulness for having made it half way through, what in those times, would have been the most difficult of times. thus a time for relaxing the rationing of preserved food which had been set aside in other seasons, in such was as to preserve it, to sustain life, through the lean months. thus the eating and feasting itself takes on a special significance. it is about here it is, the middle of winter, in many ways the least generous season of the year, and we're still alive. we've made once again through half way of this season.

well of course in modern cameroi, it is easy to forget these difficulties that existed in ancient times, but it is good to recall them. to recall how it is only thanks to infrastructure, that our modern world is not ruled by them as ancient times were.

it is thus of course, even as it had been then, a happy time, to celibrate these things, and of course how, mutual consideration between nations, as between individuals, makes the existence of infrastructure, which makes the existence of food security possible. so of course it is also a celebration of peace and good will. but peace has reigned sustainably on lananara, longer even then cameroi has exited, so often it is only the feasting and generosity that is most remembered.

truth isn't what i say. isn't what you say. isn't what anybody says. truth is what is there, when no one is saying anything.

How did holidays start in your country?
They are either national (e.g. Flag Day) or cultural (Laltofian Summer Solistice Day), and most were set up by the Labour Party to ensure that there was a decent spread of holidays throughout the year.

What do civilians do on holidays?
They generally visit their families, or partake in holiday-specific activities.

Are there any special occasions?
All holidays are special in their own way.

There is one holiday in the nation.

For Three Months from June to August, the nation's economic activity will stop, children will be removed from schools, and the Government will provide everyone everything they need, in order to praise the glory and prestige of Dear Leader. All Political Activity goes in a holiday of sorts from May to September. Any and all Political debate during this time is punishable by death by firing squad.

How did holidays start in your country? The celebration of historical events, such as the execution of tyrants, the winning of battles, the births and deaths of important figures, etc.

What do civilians do on holidays? Take the day off, stay at home and appreciate the time they get to spend with their family.

Are there any special occasions? The largest celebration of the year is Dœgr nod Aáðr Althing, or "Day of the First Council" which celebrates the first democratic convention of the new unified nation in over 300 years.

There isn't a "winter holiday season" in Swilatia. We have Jul (Christmas) on 24 December and New Year's Eve on the last day of the year. The days in between are normal days and we don't really have winter.

There's also plenty of other holidays throughout the year.

How did holidays start in your country?
Ever since we adopted Christianity as our religion.

What do civilians do on holidays?
They usually stay at home, feasting, and opening presents, while others go shopping and spend a lot of cash.

Are there any special occasions?
Christmas Day, as well as Christmas Eve, are special, yet important occasions celebrated by the majority of Zokorians. New Year's Day (as well as New Year's Eve) is also a special occasion.
