Forgotten of Galdeon

Image

The Forgotten of Galdeon number a small group, now barely existing at the strength of 240 warriors, the few remaining rebels of the great civil war in their native homeland. They are organized into companies of 40, each lead by a Galdeon noble. Each company has its own name, given to a piece of their history and tradition upon which they carry with them. Their weapons and armour are focused on mobility, and all additional information can be found here:

Agrini Moon Guard

Image

The Agrini elves, also refered to as Luna elves due to their worship of the moon, numbers have been dwindling these past few centuries. The Luna elves maintained a strict code of exclusion and where present during the first age of peace. Though they became potent warriors they had no enemies to vanquish until the age of the Death wars. Agrini was not an exception from the brutal fighting that would engulf the world. Instead the Agrini were witness to some of most deadly combat, the elves barely holding their own against the undead hordes. With that came the steep price of hundreds of lives, thus the remaining Agrini sharpen their blades and maintain a ready stance for any conflict. The Agrini maintain an army of 1,000 knights in case the need once more arises to brandish blades and bows. Each regiment being named after a spirit of the fountains, this excludes the circle of ossus.

Assembled Warriors of the Migser Rigskhag
མི་གསེཪ་ཪིགས་ཁག་དམག་དཔུང

Detailed descriptions of the warriors.

The military of the Migser Rigskhag is called the Assembled Warriors (dmag dpung), because of its nature of an assembly of warriors from all clans and tribes, as well as those from the vassal states after its conquest of the coasts. Despite its relatively small population, the militaristic culture of the Migser people meant that it can field a relatively large army compared with nations of similar size.

The assembled warriors only assemble when they are summoned by the great council in times of turmoil and troubles. In peaceful times, they belong to the individual clans they hailed from, and often fight for their own clan instead of the Rigskhag in general, even if it means warring with other member clans. The only time when such infighting is not conducted or accepted is in the face of foreign aggression or conquest, in which all clans will assemble into regiments based on their geographic locations and inter-clan relations. They fight as one unit under the command of the head, called Dmag Krang (དམག་ཀྲང), or lieutenant, as it is usually translated. The position of lieutenant is often hold by priestess, who excels in both rituals and blessings, as well as the art of fighting and spell-casting. While not intended to fight at the front-line usually, the lieutenant often provide spiritual guide to her subordinates.

Landships, itself being home to their owner clans, are considered independent of the regiment despite being part of it. Because of their crucial role in war, clans that happen to own a landship will usually be in command of the regiment, and the position of lieutenant is most likely being hold by priestess from one of those clans, whom also tend to have heavy influence on the Rigskhag in other aspects.

Apart from the regiments, there are also the levies of the coastal vassals. Apart from the usual tributes towards their desert masters, the vassals are also required to provide auxiliary soldiers, both to support the ranks of the regiments, as well as to suppress any rebellion that might be in place. These levies, while numerically superior to the regiments in most cases, are inferior in training and organisation, as they lack a unified command structure beyond being part of the Mtha'khob Garrison nominally.

WIP

Drukat Khuzi (Home Guard):
The Home Guard are the main component of any dwarven host and consist mainly of dwarven levies drawn up from amongst the populace. However, they are not the rabble rousing group that one assumes with a levy. The dwarves of the home guard are those dwarves that pass the stringent dwarven military standards and are expected to train for a week for every month in a variety of exercises. By the time these members reach their thirtieth year they are given the choice to either stay on the roster further, be invited to join a Dwarven Clan Force, and finally retire from the Home Guard. The officers of the Home Guard tend to be those dwarves that usually have served extensively in the ranks. Not only are these dwarves raised in times of warfare they are also used to enforce civil discipline in the cities they are in. However, the dwarves that tend to these criminal matters tend to be used sparingly as the various dwarven clans tend to solve their issues through other means.
Equipment:
The main weapon of the Home Guard is the mace for its ability to be used to both crush an opponents skull and deliver a debilitating non-lethal blow to those they wish to take alive. They are also armed with a very durable and heavy rectangular shield made out of steel that usually covers the dwarf from his knees to his chin. These dwarves are also armored in steel chain mail with solid steel helms. The other weapons used within the various Home Guard units are the battle axe, the cross bow, and finally there are even some units trained in the battle spear. Those units trained in the battle spear usually are combined together into phalanx like formations that are especially useful in the narrow confines of tunnel fighting.

Leshon Arkaul (Sacred Warriors):
Those of the Sacred Warriors are the elite force of the dwarven army who are tasked with the important task of defending the Sacred Gates which guard the cities from all outside enemies that seek to attack the dwarven homeland. The Sacred Warriors are drawn from the elite soldiers of the various dwarven clans who are chosen from by the various clan households to represent their people. The ranks of the Sacred Warriors have held council members, Guild Masters, Clan Leaders, and even Kings. Thus making the position both a high honor and a jumping platform for those who wish to advance in society. One of the few times that dwarves are able to move up the social ladder which makes entering the Sacred Warriors highly competitive. The Sacred Warriors are rarely used in expeditionary forces and the only time that they have left the task of defending the gates to others were when they were sent to secure the above ground structures for dwarven ascent.
Equipment:
The Sacred Warriors are armed with the finest weaponry that dwarves can make that has been handed down throughout the generations since the founding of the Sacred Gates they have been charged to protect. The runes placed upon these weapons are also some of the strongest made with some weapons being able to slice through metal like butter or others being able to set themselves alight with a fierce blaze. Their armor is made from mithril, a mineral so rare now and in demand that its use for such things like armor are almost unheard of. The fact that the entire Sacred Warrior group is armored in such fashion makes them deadly and ferocious being able to take blow after blow with little thought to it.

Clan Forces:
Those forces raised by the various dwarven clans are the professional backbone of every dwarven army and the dwarves that make up their ranks know no other profession than that of the art of war. These dwarves serve for a term of up to eighty years upon which they are given the chance to retire to a grant of gold and land. They usually are used in inter-clan rivalries rather than actually fighting any sort of external force. This sort of fighting causes issues when the combined might of all the clans is required by the King to fight. However, the clan warriors are kept mainly in line during these conflicts by the Oath of War or Galbaraz de Kurnmorn; which is an oath spoken by all warriors before war that requires them to put aside all clan differences until after the campaign for the sake of all dwarven kind. This Oath does not stop some dwarven clan leaders from attempting to allow rival clan leaders to die in battle.
Equipment: The main armor and weaponry of the various clan armies are steel based with some slight use of rune crafting on those officers and higher born warriors. Specificalky, they are armored in heavy steel plate making any sort of running difficult making most battles involving dwarves a defensive one that are reliant on letting the enemy hitting first.

Maukk de Kar:
The cleric order of the Maukk de Kar are raised on the principles of honor and tradition that go back to the founding of the mythical Khazad Empire that supposedly stretched around the world culminating in the capital city of Khazad-Dum which was lost to the hordes. As such the Maukk de Kar are both a priestly and martial order that is responsible for both fighting the enemies of the dwarves and healing them afterwards.

The Untarnished of Numer

The Numerian Empire supports a standing army, ready to defend Numer at all costs. Lower ranking soldiers coming from the poorer class tend to be basic fighters; their main strength comes from their numbers. As some middle class and most lugal families can afford devoting a son to the military, more skilled branches of the force are established. These professionals have different skills and styles, but all are fully trained in matters of warfare. Each city/province as well tends to have a certain skill in terms of combat, and these are reflected in the different warriors of Numer. During peacetime, certain branches of the military are available for hire.

Total Troops: 550,000 (1% of population)

850 Serpentborne
850 War Elephants

Sadmarrah/House Baradu
50,000 Numerian Warriors
10,000 River Dancers
4,000 Sentinels
10,000 Eyes of Manthamen
6,000 Seraphim
850 Serpentborne
850 War Elephants

UNITS:

Numerian Warrior
These basic fighters generally are used as militiamen, guardsmen, simple skirmishers and warriors; some are even enslaved or levied. They do not possess the true skill and finesse as the other branches of the military.
EQU: spear, wooden shield, Numerian recurve shortbow (for some), padded armor
Appearance:
Image

River Dancer
These light infantry fighters are trained from a young age to be cunning and adept in the field. They are fast and greatly skilled with both sword and shield. Their name comes from their appearance while fighting; graceful and quick- though deadly. Many say that they originally derived from the remaining fighters of the Fall of Sepris, the warriors who were skilled enough to survive and regroup in the wetlands after the famous siege.
EQU: sword, steel-covered wooden shield, steel chainmail armor
Appearance:
Image

Sentinel
Based on the ancient warriors from the military-devoted city/province of Raegal, the Sentinels are a heavy infantry unit, and truly the most famous to foreigners. Their skill in all matters of war and combat is unmatched (except perhaps for the Serpentborne). Sentinels usually train from birth-in Raegal it is required- and although they are allowed to live the normal lives of the citizenry, they still are constantly connected to their Sentinel duties, whether it be fighting battles, developing strategies, or writing poetry of famous conflicts. They are taught to be wise and stoic.
EQU: spear, sword, steel shield, steel chestplate armor
Appearance:
Image

Eye of Manthamen
These archers are the finest in all of Numer- few could match their skill with the bow. They are masters of deceptive fighting; ambushes laid by these bowmen leave none alive. They also serve as the Empire's scouts and sailors; most come from Apesh, the city devoted the god of the sea and the sun, Manthamen.
EQU: dagger, Numerian recurve longbow, buckler
Appearance:
Image

Seraphim
The Seraphim are a powerful medium cavalry unit, made of Numer's best horsemen, and probably the most versatile of the Numerian forces. Equally skilled with the recurve short bow, the traditional flail, the spear, and the shield, they are equipped for any situation. Their prowess is only matched by the speed of their stallions, making for a quick and dangerous foe. Most Seraphim come from the rich lugal class, especially from Sadmarrah (which has a horsemen tradition), trained in horseback riding and weapon skills from masters paid with their fortune. Truly one of the most deadly cavalry forces in Casibica. Their feats and charges in the Death Wars are know far and wide.
EQU: Numerian recurve shortbow, flail, spear, steel buckler, steel chainmail
Appearance:
Image

Serpentborne
The Serpentborne are the most elite warriors in all of Numer, guarding its holiest sites and the Ensi himself. They were original the spies of House Uran, making sure the other Houses stayed in check, but they soon developed into a religious order devoted to Serin, the god of secrets, the moon, and the jungle; the patron of Urvarys. The do not appear imposing...but they are masters of the sword and of illusionary magic. Many legends tell of the Serpentbornes' skill with their finely crafted blades, their main weapon of choice, and their mysterious powers to manipulate the senses and themselves. Most Numerian citizens do not trust them, as they do not trust magic, but they do respect the Serpentbornes' skills and their devotion to the gods. Only a few over the centuries have faced a Serpentborne in combat and lived to tell the tale. Their only weakness is their lack of numbers, being that only the best can join the group.
EQU: sword, throwing daggers
MAGIC?: Yes
Appearance:
Image

War Elephants
The Numerian jungles offer all sorts of wildlife, including the massive beasts known as elephants. The Numerians have trained these great animals to serve in the military, crushing and impaling foes as archers shoot from stable platforms attached to the creatures above. Their tusks are sharpened with steel tips and spikes are attached, inflicting many casualties.
Passengers: 5 basic archers and a driver
EQU: steel-tipped tusks, spikes
Appearance:

The Theocracy of the Covenant mandates the organization of the Covenant's forces into Chapters. For every province with a Marker there is a single Chapter, consisting of exactly 1,000 ready Templar. Each Chapter is divided into 10 companies of 100 soldiers and grouped with 4 other adjacent Chapters under the Crusade banner of a Lord Marshall, who is second only to the Lord Commander and Udan's will itself.

Each Chapter's Templar are lead by the Chapter Master who oversees each of the Justicars that command each company. As his right and left hand serve the Librarian and Chaplin, who dedicate themselves to training the 4,000 new Brothers of the Covenant to become the finest mages and soldiers possible so that the Chapter may forever remain 1,000 trained and strong Templar for the Covenant. In times of desperation, however, the chapter may conscript every and all Brothers to serve the Covenant

With the recent outbreak of Victor's rebellion, however, Zelbae has seen its forces divided. Victor's forces do no correspond with the same doctrines of dividing his military into many small independent groups. Instead Victor's experience as the former Lord commander of the Covenant's Crusades, has led him to lead all his forces under a single banner directly, only dividing his men to create small task forces to fulfill secondary missions.

Currently there exists 24 active Covenant Chapters and 5 Crusade Banners, while there exists only one Brotherhood chapter

Covenant of Zelbae
ORBAT:
9 "Circle"
5 Lord Marshall
24 Chapter Masters
24 Librarians
24 Chaplains
240 Justicar
23,689 Templar
96,000 Brothers

12,015 Total

Brotherhood of Udan
1 Lord Commander
1 Hand of the Lord
5 Brother Captains
476 Warrior Brothers

10,500 Skeleton Soldiers

The Drackari have fought in the past always as a disorganized rabble, a horde of braying satyrs, charging minotaurs and unstoppable giants. As such, disciplined forces despite having a numerical disadvantage have been able to beat back these poorly-equipped and too wild forces.

However, at the turn of the Drackari's civilization, a large restructuring of their society has allowed them to focus their efforts. Their "leader", the mysterious Shadow Man has recognized the strengths of each race making up the Drackari and while half of the male population is devoted to improving the infrastructure, centaurs and satyrs working together to plough fields, or giants heaving colossal chunks of marble out of quarries. However, a close approximate of five hundred thousand Drackari are being trained and equipped to form an invasion force.

The bulk of the army is composed of satyrs with almost three hundred thousand of these goatmen armed with spears and bows, their improved eyesight allowing them a ranged edge. Backing up these satyrs with a stronger melee presence are minotaurs and ogres numbering close to a hundred thousand; hammers, axes, swords and shields. Shamans are present in this more elite force providing a limited magical presence into combat. Then there are the heavies, a mixture of elephantaurs, giants, cyclops, each armed with whatever preference they have, often times relying on brute strength and size instead of actual weapons, this is the most devastating part of the army and approaches seventy thousand warriors. The final component of this army are the mounted soldiers, ogres on the backs of mammoths or other large beasts which can be found in the wild lands of the Dark Fortress, and centaurs armed with bows or spears.

Summary components of the Drackari military force:

Foot Soldiers (Satyrs): 300,000
Elite Foot Soldiers (Minotaurs, Ogres, Shamans (Satyr/Minotaur)): 100,000
Heavy Units (Elephantaurs, Giants, Cyclops): 70,000
Mounted Units (Mounted Ogres, Centaurs): 30,000

Magic: Shamans are the only magic-capable units within the horde and are sparsely located, they can focus on and summon energies related to the spirit of the Beast, nature bending to their will. They use this often to install confidence and blood-lust into their troops ensuring great loyalty and therefore can be labelled as "officers" within the "army".

Location: Currently, all military forces of the Drackari are located on their home island.

The Coven Guard

The Vampiric Holds maintain a semi-standing force in the interest of protecting its lands and peoples from exterior and domestic threats both. The Coven Guard, as they are named, are made up of both lower-tiered Vampires who lack the option of gaining titles of nobility or other positions, and free mortals who opt to serve in this force, freeing them of any blood tithes or other high tributes paid to the Vampire overlords.

This force, during times of war, conflict or insurrection, is supplemented by the various local forces of the Vampiric aristocracy; Various lords and ladies provide militia and their own standing forces to shore up the existing units. The Coven Guard, unlike these men in service to the nobility, directly serve the High Lord of the Vampiric Holds, and to a lesser extent the Overlord of the Blood Cult whenever the High Lord does not occupy this office.

The command structure of the Guard, as well as most of the local forces, is relatively simple; At the top of the ladder is the High Lord of the Holds, who holds the position of Gluvk Cannuvkol, or Grand Commander of the Coven Guard as part of his other titles. Next comes the Overlord of the Blood Cult, who is occasionally a different person than the High Lord, thus making this note necessary. Following these offices, three generals are appointed; Cannuvkol ud Siv Maivduav, Commander at Sun Mountain, who commands the forces from the titular volcano southwest to the sea; Cannuvkol av dho Vurroav, the Commander in the Valley, who commands the forces from Sun Mountain, north to the start of the Great Teeth, and west to the Gate of Dried Blood; Finally, there is the Cannuvkol ad dho Falk, Commander of the Fork, who leads the forces east of the Great Teeth and north of the Gate.

These commanders are appointed by the High Lord, and upon the death of one of the three the remaining two suggest his successor. Following these men are the Gloud Laoidovuvd (Great Lieutenants), nine men, three for each Commander, who further lead divisions of their protected territory. These men in turn choose any number of lieutenants as they see necessary to ease the defense of the Holds. Below this, the men of each force choose their own officers, those who will lead them in battle and represent them should their commander call.

Forces of the Lost Tribes
It should be noted that the lost tribes do not possess a unifed government so each of these should be treated as a seperate faction for the time being. It should also be noted that the Nephilim do not maintain their maximum standing army size but instead have citizens drill one week out of every four until they're called to duty.

The Nephilim:
In order to understand the works of a Nephil Army, one must first understand the Nephilim themselves. It is theorized that the Gods took a sorcerer with noble intentions who had recently died in his Patrons service, and merged his essence with a similarily slain Dark knight. Others have claimed that Angels and Demons were merged to create the Nephilim. Regardless the Nephilim are the Scions of Balance in the world they inhabit today, capable of making unspeakable sacrifice or commit great evil in order to maintain it. To these ends the Nephilim often possess abilites approaching the super-human and are divided into groups or sub-types based on their abilities. Nephilim can be identifed by their intense musculature, their heights often a few inches over six feet, and their skin tone ranges from a deathly grey to a glowing tan. Each and every Nephilim possesses a set of glowing eyes.

Marauders:
The most common type of Nephilim, these are often warriors of the highest degree possessing skills that few mortals can match and often wielding outlandish weapons. The Marauders arm and armour themselves as per their own preferences and the preferences of the tribe that they fight alongside. Marauders tend to shy away from the magical practices and instead focus on their martial abilities, however most Marauders will carry a charm or know an incantation that will reduce the effects of magic upon themselves.

Sorcerers:
Sorcerers are Nephilim who have chosen to study the magical arts. They tend to be extremely well learned and draw upon large reserves of energy in order to wreak havoc upon their foes. These Nephilim will often surround themselves with a Cohort of human guardsmen, or in rare cases other Nephilim.

Skinchangers:
A cousin class of the Sorcerers, Skinchangers are all born with a 'true form'. These forms can be activated in battle in order to transform them into a raging form of energy. Skinchangers have been observed transforming themselves into Demon-like creatures wrapped in flames, Giant Wolves, and other such monsters. Ironically outside of combat Skinchangers are the most peaceful of the Nephilim, most often spending time in meditation in order to focus their inner selves. Skinchangers each only have one form and can only maintain it for a limited time without exception. When outside of their True-form these Nephilim often wear armor similar to their human counter-parts in order to maximise the shock that their transformation will inflict on their enemy.

Acolytes:
Often refered to as the Leadership caste of the Nephilim. Acolytes possess the abilities of all their underlings, and will use each of them to deadly effect. Naturally the rarest of the Nephilim, they number under a hundred. As such they are only the political elite of the Nephil tribes, instead they serve as advisors to human generals on the battlefield and leaders of elite shock squadrons who can often cut swathes through enemy forces in order to start a massive rout or slay the enemy leader.

The Skyclaw tribe:

Tech Level: Bronze Age

The Skyclaw are a proud tribe who reside in the mountain Citadel of Highmount. While not the most heavily armed of the Tribes the Skyclaw are considered masters of defensive warfare, renowned for never giving an inch when nessicity demands it. The Skyclaw fight using densely packed phalanxes of spearmen, using their discipline and massive bronze shields in order to hold the line. Very few of the Skyclaw will wield bows, instead favoring to arm their skirmishers with javelins for their additional mass. The Skyclaw also possess no Skinchangers in their armies.

Standing forces:

5,000 Skyclaw Guardians (Spears, Bronze Shields, Bronze Scale mail with leather bracers and Greaves, Bronze Helm, Short sword)
3,000 Skyclaw Skirmishers (Leather Armor, Short Sword, x7 Javelins)
6 Nephilim Acolytes
100 Nephilim Marauders
44 Nephilim Sorcerers

Mobilizing: None

Recent Casualties: None

Total: 8,150 Souls
Potential Army Size: 45,000

The Greenblood Tribe:

Tech Level: Early Medieval

The Greenbloods are an mysterious tribe who reside in the murky Jungles of Deepwood. The Greenbloods are renowned for their Rangers who are said to be nearly as silent as Elven Rangers, combined with the Powers of the Nephilim at their backs the Greenbloods make for a silently terrifying force who often add the jungle beasts to their Ranks. The Greenbloods possess no Maruader Nephilim instead focusing on Sorcerers in order to tame the local beast population.

Standing Forces:
4,500 Greenblood Footmen (Arming Sword, Chainmail and Leather Armour, Round Shields, Norman Caps)
6,500 Greenblood Rangers (Shortsword, Brace of Throwing Knives, Chainmail and cloak, Longbow)
100 Nephilim Sorcerers
25 Nephilim Skinchangers
5 Nephilim Acolytes
Various Jungle Beasts

Mobilizing: None

Recent Casualties: None

Total: 11,130 Souls
Potential: 60,000

The Hydras

Tech Level: Mesoamerican

The Hydra's are a reclusive tribe who make their homes upon the swampy Delta known as the Divide. The Hydra's have such a respect for the swamp from which they eek out an existance that they named their one city after it. The Hydra's often fight like the beast they are named after, often striking unseen from multiple angles in the swamp. They are viscious fighters and their mages are notorious for their use of Blood Magics and poisons. The Hydra's also possess no Nephilim Acolytes, which has likely influenced the Clan's degeneration in comparison to some of the other clans.

Standing Forces

5,500 Hydra Warriors (Jade Clubs, Leather Thongs and Greaves, Axes)
3,000 Hydra Cutthroats (Poisoned Arrows, Recurve Bows, Poisoned Bone Daggers)
150 Nephilim Mauraders
50 Nephilim Sorcerers
10 Nephilim Skinchangers

Mobilizing: None

Recent Casualties: None

Total: 8,710 Souls
Potential: 25,000

The Pale Swords
Tech Level: Early Viking

The Paleswords reside on the isle of Palestone. Both the tribe and the isle take their name from the pale lusterless iron that's found on the island, producing blades that reflect little light. The Pale Swords themselves are raiders at heart taking their longships out of their home of Cliffside and raiding the other tribes for whatever resources they can get their hands. The Paleswords are also one of the only two tribes who possess a cavalry force.

Standing Forces:
7,000 Palesword Raiders (Pale Iron Longsword, Pale Iron Battleaxe, Pale Iron throwing axes, Round shield, Pale Iron chainmail)
2,000 Palesword Longbowmen (Longbow, Pale Iron shortsword, Leather Armor)
500 Palesword Riders (Chainmail, Pale Iron Longsword, Rider shield, Pale Iron Spear)
50 Nephilim Marauders
25 Nephilim Skinchangers
15 Nephilim Sorcerers
5 Nephilim Acolytes

Mobilizing: None

Recent Casualties: None

Total: 9,995 Souls
Potential: 70,000

30 Longships

The Zelosians

Tech Level: High Medieval

The Zelosians are the care-takers of the ancient city of Zelos, the previous seat of the Old Kingdom. Out of all the tribes the Zelosians are the ones other nations would likely call civilized. The Zelosians are also one of only two tribes to possess cavalry and arm their soldiers in platemail. They also support few Sorcerers but possess the most Acolyte Nephilim in their ranks.

Standing Forces:
10,000 Zelosian Footmen (Longswords, Plate Armor, Round Shields)
5,000 Zelosian Archers (Leather and Chainmail combo, Short Swords, Longbows)
1,500 Zelosian Knights (Horses, Platemail, Lances, Longswords)
60 Nephilim Mauraders
15 Nephilim Skinchangers
10 Nephilim Sorcerers
15 Nephilim Acolytes

Mobilizing: None

Recent Casualties: None

Total Forces: 16,600 Souls
Potential 100,000

25 Galleys
12 Cogs

The Cindron Corsairs

Tech Level: Early Medieval

The Cindron Corsairs, based in Nephil Port, are a rather grey tribe. They stay out of disputes with the other tribes and act as a neutral merchantile force in the area. Combine that with the Corsairs fleet and you have minimal reason for warfare. The Corsairs possess the fewest soldiers of any kind, but can also field the largest and best equipped navy out of the tribes.

2,500 Cindron Corsairs (Equipment Varies)
10 Nephilim Mauraders
5 Nephilim Sorcerers
4 Nephilim Skinchangers
1 Nephilim Acolyte

Mobilizing: None

Recent Casualities: None

Total Forces: 2,520 Souls
Potential: 10,000

20 Cogs
30 Galleys
10 Longships

The Blackshields

Tech Level: High Medieval

The Blackshields are arguably the most resilent of all the Tribes, having earned this reputation for surviving under the shadow of the volcano Klackos since time immemorial. The Blackshields specialize in heavy infantry and protective magics, their infantry can be argued as the most effective offensive force fielded by the tribes short of a Nephilim War Party. When the Blackshields charge few can withstand their fury. Due to the proximity of the Volcano Klackos the Blackshields produce steel with superior qualities to other weapons that they dub Ebony. The Blackshields possess no Marauders in their Armies, instead relying on their superior Human infantry.

Standing Forces:
4,000 Blackshield Warriors (Ebony Plate, Ebony Glaive, Ebony Arming Sword, Round Shield)
2,000 Blackshield Archers (Chainmail and Leather, Short Sword, Longbow)
15 Nephilim Skinchangers
25 Nephilim Sorcerers
8 Nephilim Acolytes

The Military of the High Kingdom of Lydia

The military of the High Kingdom is a powerful force, with deep tradition and amazing training technique. The High Kingdom prides itself on its powerful military, and keeps it in tip top shape just in case those sneaky elves or crazy humans decide to take a chance on this powerful island kingdom. The head of the military is the High King, and below him is the Minister of War who makes the every day decisions on the military. Leaders of divisions are called 'Imperators', which is the high rank in the military while the lowest rank is that of 'Privatus'. The High King is often called 'Altus Imperator' or the High General of the Military. Each Imperator is a dragon rider; a elf which has created such a bond with a dragon that become one. There are only 100 dragon riders and therefore each division is 4500 soldiers. The military is highly funded, but during peace times the size is roughly cut in half. The soldiers of the army are highly trained, and attuned with magical spells that increase their attributes. The best of the best in the army is the 'High Shields' which are the highest trained and toughest sons of bitches you could imagine. They only number about 500, but thats all they need. The navy is very strong out of necessity. They are a island nation after all, and protect their shores fiercely when provoked. The special forces of the navy are called 'High Swords.' They are amazing athletes, and can go anywhere the other soldiers just aren't
able to. The mages of the Kingdom are the pride and joy of the nation. They are powerful beings that are revered among the populace. They fight religiously for the Kingdom, and will do anything to serve their king. The oldest mages are the most powerful and they are called Elders. They only number about 100 but they are the best of the best when it comes to magic. The mages act as the artillery, and although the army has their catapults and siege weapons, the mages are twice as effective. The peacetime army is highly defensive, but when the High King declares war, the wartime army becomes a offensive machine preferring to attacking quickly and efficiently. The King also tries to get any rebellious nobles on his side when he attacks and is willing to anything to win.

During Peacetime:
Total Military: 200,000
Army: 170,000
Navy: 10,000
Mages: 20,000
Dragon Riders: 100

During War:
Total Military: 450,000
Army: 400,000
Navy: 20,000
Mages: 30,000
Dragon Riders: 100

Currently there exists 30 active Chapters and 6 Crusade Banners

ORBAT:
9 "Circle"
1 Lord Commander
6 Lord Marshall
30 Chapter Masters
30 Librarians
30 Chaplains
300 Justicar
29,610 Templar
120,000 Brothers

150,016 Total

They have large leathery wings that protrude from their sides just above their front shoulders. They are adorned with rings of spikes that circle their body at the neck and the rear legs. Their tail is thick and strong. The tails are around 10 feet in length and have a sharp blade on the end. They are covered in colourless scales that can protect their bodies from most weapons.

Forces of Evil

Extremely powerful servant of the god, Ka. Only man in the Kingdom that knows Ka's true nature. Can manipulate heat, wind, and rain. Has fled the kingdom and resides in the mountains waiting for a time when his lord, Ka, bids him to take his followers against Oliyan

Ka, Sun God
Deity that controls the sun and sky. Formerly one of the beasts that work with Oliyan. Bent on controlling the whole world. He has lost much power with the fall of his puppet government. Still more powerful than Oliyan's forces.

Guild Forces of Aradi

Given the mercantile tradition of the Aradi Guild Federation, when it feels the need to go to war it's armed forces are predominantly mercenaries, with a scattering of trained and loyal Guild guardsmen and the Royal Guard as the elite.

Mercenaries

Mercenaries are most usually well trained, mainly because they are hired on the basis of their skill and equipment. The Federation usually hires it's mercenaries from two Companies (the Green Flame Company and the Saval Hawkers), who group and train their personnel in the following divisions.

Aradi Short Swordsmen
These fighters are usually at the front of each battle, where they use over-whelming numbers to destroy the enemy forces. Equivelent to Berserkers in other nations, once set a task they will not cease until it is completed. They are lightly armoured, usually with chain-mail, and are prevalent in almost any mercenary hire company. The current numbers of Aradi Short Swordsmen within the nation is as follows, with only the forces currently available in major cities shown:

Ocran: 19,560
Shalemount: 15,630
Haldershire: 11,220
Cruftern: 12,880
Seln: 16,940

Hawk-Hunters
Hawk-Hunters are trained in groups of ten, reliant on each-other. They are used as rogue bands of soldiers, who usually circle the battle, isolate an enemy unit and descend upon them, slaughtering the group. This tactic is the main reason they recieved the name Hawk-Hunters, as it is from the Aradi Hawk where they recieved their inspiration. They are most usually armoured in leather for ease of movement, and are armed with long knives between 50-60cm in length, for maneuverability. Hawk-Hunters are most commonly found in northern-most cities, and as such are more commonly trained in the Saval Hawkers, which is based in Shalemount. However they have reached thtoughout the nation:

Ocran: 930
Shalemount: 1,130
Haldershire: 840
Cruftern: 470
Seln: 790

Crofter Horsemen
Crofter Horsemen are the main mounted mercenary unit. Armoured in either chain or scale armour, they are equipped with sabres. Because of their mounts, they are extremely fast, and fight in groups.

Ocran: 1,950
Shalemount: 1,610
Haldershire: 950
Cruftern: 980
Seln: 1,430

Selnian Archers
As the name suggests, this type of soldiers are archers, and are mainly found in Seln. They are armoured in leather, and use composite bows pf horn, wood and sinew. They are used in the back of battles to provide archer cover, however if they are drawn into a battle, they have one short-sword to defend themselves with.

Ocran: 1,560
Shalemount: 920
Haldershire: 850
Cruftern: 1,100
Seln: 2,140

Fox Plate Long-Swordsmen
The final of the five main mercenary classes, the Foxes as they are commonly known are usually equated to knights in other nations. Extremely well trained, the Foxes fight singularly and are almost walking tanks. They are heavily armoured, wearing complete suits of plate armour and equipped with long-swords. In battle they are deployed along with the Aradi Short-Swordsmen. They were aptly described by one poet as:
"A slow-moving island, isolated in a sea of rushing men, they slowly walk to their target and cannot be stopped."

Ocran: 547
Shalemount: 238
Haldershire: 124
Cruftern: 366
Seln: 55

Guild Guards

Guild Guards are always highly trained, as they are continually working to protect the goods and personnel of the various Guilds. They are very loyal and usually well-paid, however that depends on the power of the guild they work for. Guild Guards only have two classes, Swordsmen and Archers, and very rarely are called up by the government to serve in wartime. It is uknown how many Guild Guards reside within the Federation.

Archers
Equipped in the same manner as the Selnian mercenary archers, Guild Guards use leather armour and use self-bows as their weapons. However they are only equipped with long-knives in the event of close-quarters conflict.

Swordsmen
Swordsmen usually fight as pairs, and are armoured in either chain or leather. They are equipped with short-swords.

Royal Guard

The Royal Guard is extremely well trained, made up of the best of Guild Guards from all around the nation. They are payed extremely well, and so they are very loyal. Armoured in heavy plate armour, they are equipped with either scimitars or long-swords, usually in equal numbers. They are almost exclusively found in Ocran, however there are small numbers of them in each major city.

Ocran: 640
Shalemount: 35
Haldershire: 20
Cruftern: 25
Seln: 40

"Once...we were united. Standing together. Unified. Then war struck. We store ourselves apart and are now only beginning to piece back together the body of Deneager. A Fascist, a Holy Emperor, and the Lord Commissar; von Drakk. They all fought, they all bloodied their weapons, and brought death. No only the Commissar remains. We are again united, but wounds must heal."

Nazgul army:

Every Nazgul should be considered a part of the army. It's not like they need someone farming back at home for food, after all. That being said, I'll still post my forces here:

Capital Province: 300,000 Nazgul soldiers, 200,000 Nazgul cavalry, 50,000 Shade magi, and 2 fellbeasts.
Y'grinar Province: 200,000 Nazgul Soldiers, 50,000 cavalry, 1 fellbeast
Nar'Shazbadan Province: 400,000 Nazgul Soldiers, 100,000 Shade magi, Tower of the Night*
Canyons Province: 200,000 Nazgul Soldiers, 20,000 shade magi, 1 fellbeast
Kings Peak Province: 400,000 Nazgul soldiers, 1 fellbeast
J'nakar Province: 100,000 Nazgul soldiers, 300,000 Nazgul calvary, 50,000 shade magi, 1 fellbeast
Guugle Province: 200,000 Nazgul soldiers, 100,000 Nazgul calvary, 20,000 shade magi, 1 fellbeast
Lale Province: 15,000 Nazgul, 300 Shade magi, 2 fellbeasts

Unit Descriptions:

Nazgul Soldier: Usually a Nazgul footman, wielding a Sword of the Nazgul. Some choose to wield other weapons, though the Swords are by far the most popular.
Image

Nazgul Cavalry: Essentially a footman riding a horse. More deadly in open areas, but very limited in mobility in tight spaces. Especially useful as scouts and hunters.
Image

Shade Magi: Nazgul are unable to wield magic, so some opt to stay in their spectral forms so that the Army can have a magical component. These magi are powerful, but can only be used in the night due to their inherent weakness to the sun.
Image

Fellbeast: The fellbeast is a common name for the creatures the Witch King and his Lords ride. Often mistaken for dragons, they are one of the most powerful-- and feared members of the Nazgul Army.
Image

Witch King: The most powerful of the Nazgul, the Witch King is the leader of the people and the face of the Lost Kingdom. He moves between the provinces quite a bit, so if you see a random fellbeast moving between provinces, that's why.
Image

Tower of the Night: Though not a living, fighting member of the army, I still thought it important to list since it plays a key role in the Army. The Tower is powered by four battalions of Shades, and was built to create a permanent, dark cloud over the Lost Kingdom of Azad. This essentially ensures that daylight never touches the land of Azad, and a foreboding sight for those looking toward the Lost Kingdom. This structure is their greatest defense against the outside world, since no living army would wish to fight a war in the dark against creatures who became bolder and stronger in the dark.

Cohort Ghazi: The Ghazi are a series of Troll tribes to the north of Hellenes. Barbarians wearing minimal clothing and traditionally carrying crude weapons fashioned out of tree trunks, bones, and shaped chunks of iron and lead, they were the original barbaric nightmare for the civilized south and is credited in large part for the fiercely militaristic culture of their traditional foes, the Dorians. Brought into the fold of the auxiliary system by the efforts of the Consul Gaius Marcius Rutilus, they have proved more eager to unite under Aquilonian generalship than they ever did in their native tribes. This cohort has 512 members outfitted with armor consisting of large bronze chest and back plates more or less tied together and huge maces made of oak with flanged iron heads.

Στρατιές δωρικού όπως συγκεντρώσει κάτω από το βασιλιά
"Armies of Doric as mustered under the King"

The Doric army is centered around their Hoplites which form phalanxes. These men are trained from birth to be warriors. Their fierce discipline, unrelenting strength, and vicious mindset have bested armies five and six times their size.

The Dorician Kings can muster at full strength

5,600 Hoplites

15,000 Peltasts (Light skirmisher infantry drawn from the ranks of the slave class)

Στρατιές του Αγίου Όρους, όπως τέθηκαν για την υπεράσπιση του λαού Αττικής
"Armies of Athos as raised for the defense of the Attica people"

The Attica army is centered around the phalanx which are comprised of phalangites. These men are free men who are called into service when their cities, although adventurous young men and the urban poor can join the professional army, The Storm of Spears.

The Attica army at full strength is

10,000 Spears. The Storm of Spears is the professional army of Attica. They are outfitted with linothorax armor and a bronze helmet and carry a extremely long spear with a small buckler type shield

15,000 general levy. These men usually just have a bronze helmet and their spears.

3,000 cavalry Like the poor, the rich must do their part to defend their city. They, however, prefer to ride. These cavalrymen are outfitted with bronze muscle cuirass, bronze helmets, and lances.

6,000 archers. Armed with short bows, often small daggers or short swords and no armor. Mostly drawn from the lower class farmers and goat herders, they are competent but not particularly special.

The Eagle

Image

The Standard of the Legion. Eagles are the chosen birds of Iuppiter Optimus Maximus, and are his eyes and ears in this world. The Eagle is made of solid gold but its value is far more than paltry metal. It is the heart and soul of the Legion, and it doesn't hurt that the man entrusted to carry it is also responsible for the Legion's payroll and pensions.

Situated on a solid oak staff, the eagle is crafted by the hand of the priests of Vulcanus, god of the forge on commission from the Senate who had to vote each one into being. It is dipped and cleaned regularly in the waters of the pools of Stygia, giving it a fairly powerful localized magic countering field. The poisonous waters of the Stygia discolor and callous the hands of the Aquilifer entrusted to carry it, something they show off with pride.

The Empire of Naradia Forces

Equipped in simple leather padding and furs. Spear levys are used to defend city walls. Rarely are they used outside the city of their origin. Only weaponry used are iron tipped spears.
A symbolic name dating from the revolution, seeing as slaves are not kept in Naradia. Men that are called on as foot soldiers in times of need. They are volunteer soldiers drawn from every class. Equipped in chain mail and given their choice of weapon, they are used as shock troops. Overwhelming the enemy with sheer force and numbers.
Elite swordsmen that train their whole lives with a Longsword. They always work in pairs. They are equipped in a mail hauberk and leather greaves, so they are quick and agile. The swords they use are crafted with barbs and notches in the blade, when it is used in battle it emits a note based on how fast the sword is swung. The sound of their swords swinging through the air in unison has given them their name. The two swordsmen bring their elegant song of death to the enemy.
The name of these soldiers dates from the days of the revolution. Consisting of volunteer soldiers, the quality of a Freemen company is determined by the quality of the individual soldiers. Some are equipped with plate armour, and some in only boiled leather padding. Most use whatever weapons they are comfortable with, swords and axes being the norm. Some soldiers carry spears or bill hooks, although that is less common. The richer volunteers often ride with the cavalrymen.
As the name suggests, these soldiers are among the most competent human infantry forces fielded across Casibica. They are capable of both attacking and defending strategic positions, are trained from the age of five to be the perfect warrior. The Deathbringers have top of the line equipment. All 5000 men are equipped in full plate armour, with a mail undercoat. They use a combination of two-handed swords and great-axes to crush through enemy formations.
The backbone of most Nardaian armies. Each soldier is given a simple buckler shield and a steel shortsword. Each soldier is outfitted in a chainmail burnie and leather leggings, with steel gauntlets and greaves. Given about three days worth of training, these men are usually called upon to form the main mass of the Naradian host.
the Northmen archers are the reason Naradian armies can survive for weeks in the frozen tundra. That being said, the history of the archers is a notorious one. Not one battle has been fought where the Northmen Archers have not joined the fray. Oftentimes the men are wild folk. Used to living off the land. The savagery these men use in battle is a terrifying spectacle to behold.
These men are a unique unit, formed from former elf/human pairings. The majority of men and women in the unit are no longer half breeds, but are one of the premier cavalry forces in the land. Notable for the fact that men and women fight alongside one another. Every soldier is armed with a lance, a sword, and a kite shield. As well, they and their horses are cloaked in heavy plate armour, making their charges one of the most powerful human-made forces on the planet.
Human cavalry armed with a sword, shield, and a lance. They are equipped in chain mail armour and ride lightly armoured horses.
One of the rarest sights in the world is a domesticated bear, even more so for the snow bears that call Naradia home. These extremely dangerous, and massive beasts are harnessed and ridden by a pair of men. One man controls the bear while the other fires a bow from the back. Each man is armoured in simple leather padding and given a shortsword to defend themselves. The bear itself is given carefully fitted steel plates that cover vital areas.

Distribution of Troops

The Naradian military is divided into six separate command structures, all of them reporting to the King. The total number of military personnel hovers at 200,000. However in times of great need, more men and woman can be conscripted into the armies.

The Royal Navy

The navy's central command is located in the city of Kelt. As The Lord of Kelt, Guillém Strahn is also The Lord of the admiralty. 56 military vessels, employing 10,000 men are docked throughout the Empire.
21 Cogs exist throughout the Empire. 15 are docked at Kelt, 10 at Gudbradstahl, and 6 at Carrast.
35 Hulks are in service. All of them docked at Kelt.

The King's Corps

The King's Corps is the King's personal army. It numbers at anywhere from 10 to 30 thousand troops, given the current mood of the King. The Corps consists of a mix of soldier classes. Sword Levies make up about half the army. A other half is split evenly between skirmish troops and mounted knights.
Current force is 12,000 men. 6,000 Armoured Swordsmen, 3,000 Mounted Freemen, 3,000 Northmen Archers
All garrisoned in Whitewall.

The Southron Army

The Southron Army is stationed in the Southernmost provinces of Naradia. The ruling family of Elmholm, the Macons, is charged with the defence of Elmholm and her dependencies. Mostly consists of heavier cavalry divisions. Some auxiliary troops, like the Halfbreed Warbringers, are permanently lent to the army.
Current force is 45,000 men. 13,000 Armoured Swordsmen, 15,000 Mounted Freemen, 2,000 Northmen Archers, 4,000 Lancers, 10,000 Halfbreed Warbringers, 1,000 Deathbringers
Elmholm's garrisons house most of these troops. 15,000 of them, are spread across the villages and hamlets of the south.

King's Expeditionary Corps

The King's Expedition is an army formed by the King in times of need. They are the King's outstretched fist in overseas issues. The King chooses the General from among the best tacticians in the land. It is notable because the Freemen chosen for this army are of the highest quality. Many auxiliary units form the Expedition.
Current force is 31,000 men. 7,000 Armoured Swordsmen, 3,000 Freemen, 5,000 Mounted Freemen, 3,000 Halfbreed Warbringers, 2,000 Northmen Archers, 3,000 Deathbringers, 4,000 Songswords, 1,500 Bear Riders, 2,500 Lancers
The Expedition is garrisoned at Orinsburg, keeping the population under control.

Eastern Armies

The Eastern Armies form the largest portion of Naradia's Army. The constant threat of the Pylaen Empire has swelled its numbers and influenced the Empire's administration.
Current force is 68,000 men. 20,000 Armoured Swordsmen, 12,000 Freemen, 3,000 Mounted Freemen, 1,000 Halfbreed Warbringers, 16,000 Northmen Archers, 8,000 Deathbringers, 4,000 Songswords, 3,000 Bear Riders, 3,000 Lancers
The Eastern Armies are on the march, heading into Eros. 15,000 are marching to Broddring. The other 53,000 are marching south with King Joren, heading for Huntinsville.

The Naradian Defense Corps

The Defense Corps is a force completely dedicated to the defense of the Empire. The force is stationed at the crossroads of the Royal Highway, able to march to any city in the southern half of the Empire within a week.
Current force is 36,000 men. 7,000 Armoured Swordsmen, 7,000 Freemen, 5,000 Mounted Freemen, 2,000 Halfbreed Warbringers, 4,000 Northmen Archers, 2,000 Deathbringers, 2,000 Songswords, 6,000 Lancers

- 450 marines (a permanent warship, this type of ship will never carry only cargo)
- 910 men commanded by a major.

Recruitment and unit types:

Troops are usually recruited and trained at the company level. To engender esprit de corps, they are all numbered.

Officers are expected to have some form of magical training in order to benefit their troops. This may come in the form of enhancement, enchantment, warding, or the like. Usually, the higher ranking officers are more capable than the lower ranks.

Here are the following company types:

Yari ashigaru
- These are the weekend warriors and soldier-farmers of the realm. They live, work, and train in whatever village, town, or city they have been stationed in. In rural areas, a yari ashigaru company will usually act as the de facto local law enforcement. In urban areas, yari ashigaru companies are usually the first-responders to fire.
- Yari ashigaru are only armed with 5.5m-long spears. In battle, they are trained to close ranks and present a wall of spears towards the enemy.

Tachitzukai ashigaru
- They are lightly armed with a long sword and buckler, with a simple leather helmet and leather chest piece for armor. Without the armor weighing them down, they are capable of moving quickly through the thick jungles where they are primarily stationed (with the light armor, they also won't overheat and suffer from heat exhaustion as easily). Otherwise, they are used on the flanks, where their mobility allows them to come around behind the enemy with relative ease.
- Nangun tachitzukai ashigaru are being trained to use the yari to account for the more open terrain that the Nangun intends to fight on. However, given their familiarity with the tachi versus the yari, General Katabayashi is worried that they may simply ditch the yari and dive into the fray with their tachi. At the same time, the ability to use the tachi gives them the flexibility not normally afforded to normal yari ashigaru.

Yumi ashigaru
- They are lightly armed with bows and short swords. Pulled from the rural areas where a bow provided food for the family table, the yumi ashigaru are accurate and independent. They're trained to pick off enemy officers, where possible. Otherwise, they duel with enemy skirmishers and disrupt the enemy front lines, operating in pairs. With their greater knowledge of the wilderness, usually the yumi ashigaru are the ones to scout and track for the main body of troops.
- Hokugun yumi ashigaru are armed with composite bows, as they won't deteriorate like they would in the wetter southern climates. As they're usually used only in defense, to minimize casualties, the composite bows allow for rapid firing before ducking back behind cover, due to the shorter draw length.

Ishiyumi ashigaru
- They are lightly armed with crossbows and short swords. These are purely levy troops, drilled to stay in formation and volley fire. The ease of operation of the ishiyumi means that the ability to raise the ishiyumi ashigaru is limited by the production of ishiyumi and of those maintained in the various armories. Ishiyumi ashigaru are typically only raised in a state of total war; as a result, there are no currently active ishiyumi ashigaru troops. There are enough ishiyumi in armories to quickly arm a division's worth across the realm.

Naginata kobun
- They are armed with 3m-long naginata, sidearm long swords, and large tower shields. They are armored with plated steel about the head, shoulders, and torso with an armored skirt to protect the thighs. These men are the shock troops of the Shie armies. Well drilled and disciplined, they can perform the tortoise and form square.
- Kobun, or retainer, is a leftover term from the Great Houses' period of early Shie history, as the kobun in these times are part of the national Shie army and don't answer to any of the now-defunct Great Houses.

Yumi kobun
- Armed with bows and sidearm long swords, these men are trained to fire rapidly into enemy ranks. Not as skilled at picking targets like the yumi ashigaru, but better at shooting quickly, they are able to hit smaller or faster targets by simply saturating the area with arrows. The large bows wielded by the yumi kobun have painted marks on them to indicate how high or low to raise the bow for certain ranges. For example, raise the bow so that a particular mark is level to the horizon and the arrow will hit at around 75m. In this manner, a high lieutenant is able to call ranges and expect the company to quickly comply.
- Yumi kobun are armed with a couple different kinds of arrows, depending on the resupply situation. To set fortifications or the enemy on fire, they carry fire arrows, sometimes with small incendiary pots attached to the front. To scare an enemy, they also carry whistling arrows, which add to the chaos of battle, as it's known that unexpected noises can scare both men and beasts.
- Armored similarly to the naginata kobun and well-drilled in sword fighting, they are capable of being committed to melee combat. Though, they are usually only committed in such a manner as a reserve unit or as a counter-punch, following up a close-range volley.
- Hokugun yumi kobun are armed with composite bows. Not having to worry about shooting on the move or duck under cover quickly, the Hokugun yumi kobun are able to use the composite bows to their maximum range potentials.
- Nangun yumi kobun are trained to skirmish in the jungles like the yumi ashigaru. Like the ashigaru, the nangun yumi kobun will skirmish in pairs, in a bid to draw the, usually, goblins deeper into the jungle, stringing them thin before collapsing back on the scattered goblins.

Gakudou senshi
- The art of war is of vital importance to the state. These scholar warriors are living embodiments of the Shie scholastic mantra. They are the cream of the national academies. Masters of a variety of weapons, well-versed in the magics, skilled in the arts, and steeped in the classics, they lack nothing and are the intellectual and martial envies of the realm.
- Only ten companies of the gakudou senshi exist. They normally wander the realm, lending their aid to whomever needs it. This is done to further their education by accumulating more and more practical knowledge and experience. Despite their near celebrity status, they are expected to remain humble. There is talk of perhaps sending one company of gakudou senshi abroad to experience the world beyond the Shie realm.
- In battle, they are equipped with the finest armor, designed to allow for a maximum range of movement, made typically of light, but extremely durable, dwarven steel. The weapons depend upon the user's preference, so a company will usually display a plethora of weaponry. If attached to an army, a company will usually split into its platoons to reinforce and enhance the army's overall capabilities with one squad to remain with the general to serve as his advisers and command staff.

Kei kihei
- Unarmored, these men ride horseback, armed with bows and sidearm long swords. They skirmish extremely well, being able to enter bowshot, fire, then quickly run away before anything can react to them. With their swords, they can potentially be used to charge the rear of an enemy line or catch unarmored troops unawares. More likely than not, they'll simply run down fleeing enemies. The kei kihei were formed as a result of the battles against the centaurs, when it was realized the centaurs' mobility needed a counter.
- Like the yumi ashigaru, the kei kihei are often used to scout ahead of the main body of troops. Where the yumi ashigaru would rely on their skills to remain unseen while gathering information, the kei kihei can usually expect to outrun any pursuers.
- Hokugun kei kihei are armed with composite bows, allowing for rapid firing compared to bows used by the rest of the armies.

Naginata kihei
- Moderately armored, like the kobun, these mounted men are armed with fearsome 3m naginata and bucklers. When lowered for the charge, the naginata can be just as devastating as a lance. After the charge, the long handle of the naginata gives the rider excellent leverage with which to cleave targets on either side of the horse.

Yasentokka
- How many artillery pieces are in this company depends on the kinds of pieces being used. Usually, it takes an entire squad to field a single catapult, whereas a single squad can field two ballista or even three light ballista. Yasentokka companies are rarely fielded, as they slow down an army with the trains of pack animals necessary to carry all the ammunition and equipment. Several companies of ballistae did see action against an incursion of trolls, while other companies of catapults helped in sieges.

Never having seen the need for a navy, the state never got around to building much beyond a few coastal-bound boats. It fell to Tobo to design and build its own ships to cross the oceans to make it to the eastern continent. Over the years, Tobo sought much of its design advice from the southern sea elves. As a result, the Tobo ships have a very sleek, angled look to them. All Tobo ships are internally compartmentalized to reduce flooding when holed. They also use simple pumps to remove bilgewater and water accumulated from holing.

Tobo marines are armed with bows, naginata, and sidearm long swords. Usually, the marines are unarmored, as the armor reduces the agility necessary for the unstable seas. On board are supplies for fire arrows to allow the marines to set enemy ships that stray too close on fire. Ships carrying cargo usually do not have the fire ammunition supplies; the escorts can be expected to.

Kobaya
- The smallest ship available to the Tobo. It's a small vessel, the chassis a mere 32m. It is two-masted, with a foremast that extends out from the front, making the kobaya appear longer than it really is. The main mast is square-rigged, while lateen sails are rigged using the prow. The prow is angled and the kobaya has a deep draft, rendering it unwieldy in shallow waters, but capable of sailing in rougher seas. When not transporting goods or men, the kobaya usually mounts two ballista.

Sekibune
- The staple of the Tobo navy, this ship is a three-masted ship, with a foremast, at 71m. When not used to transport goods or men, it hosts six ballistae (two of which are mounted on the upraised poop deck) and one catapult on the upper deck for use against enemy vessels. The ballistae can be angled however the handlers please, allowing for them to aim down at the waterline of other vessels to sink them or up at flying creatures. The upraised poop deck gives archers a better vantage point to shoot down into shallower vessels. With more artillery on board than present in most regiments, sekibune are incredibly useful when involved in sieges.

Atakabune
- A large, two-deck, four-masted ship, with a foremast, at 98m, the atakabune is heavily armed. The top deck sports three ballistae on the upraised forecastle, two catapults in the center, and two more ballistae on the upraised poop deck. There are ten more ballistae on the lower deck. The size of the firing ports means the lower deck ballistae have very limited firing arcs; their firepower is best exploited by facing the enemy with the broadside of the atakabune. The size of the atakabune severely limits its mobility, but the large complement of marines should deter most from attempting to close the distance.

Ooatakabune
- The massive, three-deck, five-masted ships at 115m are the prides of the Tobo navy. Only three have been built, one for the Emperor's personal use, one to serve as a general's flagship, and one to impress foreigners during trade missions. The top deck has two catapults and two ballistae on the upraised forecastle, four catapults in the middle, and another two catapults and two ballistae on the upraised poop deck. The middle deck sports fourteen ballistae and the lower deck houses sixteen.
- The size means that the ooatakabune are completely unwieldy. Escorts primarily function to keep enemy vessels inside the firing arcs of the ooatakabune's impressive broadside firepower. With only four topside ballistae, the ooatakabune is relatively vulnerable to aerial attack, though its legions of marines should be able to make up for it in archery.

Dispositions:

Current total of armed personnel: 237,699 regulars, 2860 gakudou senshi

Hokugun
- Stationed primarily at the Kitanakagusuku fortress. Hokugun's mobile forces have the most cavalry of all the armies, complemented by a solid core of kobun. Given the centaurs' penchant for mobility and harassment, having ashigaru in the mobile regiments would simply allow for unnecessary casualties. The ashigaru are simply used to garrison the border forts and call for help if the centaurs mount a major attack. It should be noted that the yumi used by the Hokugun are composite to compete with the centaurs. The wetter climate of the more southern armies renders resupply of composite yumi more expensive.
- Led by General Ueda Gennosuke
- Composed of 2 divisions.
- Currently deployed with one division of the Seigun to attack the centaurs.

Seigun
- Stationed all along the mountainous western borders. Seigun is characterized by its large numbers of yari ashigaru, since the terrain allows for relatively easy defense. The mobile regiments spend their time patrolling the trade routes that lead towards the dwarves; these regiments are composed primarily of kobun, supported by kei kihei to run down goblin raiders. Their primary base is the Yamanote fortress, with minor forts partway along the trade routes.
- Led by General Mizuhara Sumie
- Composed of 2 divisions
- One division, led by Colonel Kunitake Hideyuki, is attached to the Nangun to assist in the goblin invasion. The other is commanded by Colonel Toyohisa Oozuki; it is attached to the Hokugun, deep within centaur territory.

Kyougun
- Stationed near the capitol, Nakabaragusuku. Kyougun is characterized by its fully armored mobile regiments; it is the army that moves to support a front and carry out an invasion, if necessary. The ashigaru in this army are primarily used in disaster relief efforts and state projects when not out on a campaign.
- Led by General Sonozaki Shiina.
- Composed of 2 divisions.
- Currently deployed with the Nangun and one division of the Seigun to help invade the goblins.

Nangun
- Stationed near the southern Karasumori fortress. Nangun is characterized by its extensive use of tachitzukai and yumi ashigaru and yumi kobun, for their greater mobility in the southern jungles, with some naginata kobun for staying power. It should be noted that the yumi kobun of the Nangun are trained to skirmish, rather than volley fire like the other armies.
- Led by General Katabayashi Iizumi
- The largest army, because it faces the incredibly numerous goblins, is composed of 3 divisions.
- Currently deployed, marching with the Kyougun and one division of the Seigun to attack the goblins.

Gakudou senshi
- 10 companies total.
- Two are with the Tansa Kantai. One is led by Captain Kurogane Shion. The other is led by Captain Maebara Tokitsugu.

Current total of warship-bound men: 150,000
- 3 ooatakabune
- 92 atakabune
- 276 sekibune
- 848 kobaya

Tansa Kantai
- A massive, expeditionary fleet, 352 ships total, put together for the purpose of exploring the eastern continent.
- Led by General Kodai Susumu; trained to fight in several formations (swooping crane, striking serpent, reclining tiger, dragon's tail). The normal formation is to sail in 3 parallel columns, with the flagship, Ten no Tsubasa at the head of the middle column, to lead the entire formation.
- 1 ooatakabune (commanded by Major Sumikata Gozen); 31 atakabune (10 cargo); 74 sekibune (42 cargo); 248 kobaya (180 cargo)

Minamiguchi Bay
- A massive bay located in the southernmost part of Shie, the bay was only recently secured by Tobo as a result of Shie expansion into former goblin lands. Tobo seeks to develop the bay into a base to explore along the western edge of the continent and south, in the direction of a fantastical lost continent. From here, Tobo will also be able to stage raids on the goblin coastline.
- 19 atakabune; 52 sekibune; 98 kobaya

Tsuiseki Kantai
- When a large, unknown fleet of warships was spotted by Tobo trading vessels sailing between Shie and Anantar, Tobo put together a fleet to observe and make contact with the interlopers. Judging from how fast the foreigners seemed to be moving, the Tsuiseki Kantai set out such that it is estimated to come across the foreigners' bow.
- General Tsushima Yasutori commands 10 atakabune, 29 sekibune, and 67 kobaya from the Aohebi.
