Pricing In Your Nation

Postby The Multiversal Species Alliance » Tue Sep 18, 2012 10:50 pm

How are prices determined in your nation?
Prices, in the Alliance, are determined by cultural values and law. Our culture strongly encourages prices to be as low and affordable as possible. Law decrees that nothing can be priced above 50 bits.

Completely up to the business. Mostly based on supply and demand, quality, and brand name. There is no sales tax to consider.

Our nations prices are based upon the principles I myself learned whilst enrolled in Advanced Placement Economics; we tend to focus on the Global, Industry, Market, and Firm graphs, and within these the various associated principles--(and) we employ virtually all of the same regulations, rules, laws, and restrictions as in The United States of America

"Everything is worth what its purchaser will pay for it."

Some puny human said that, but he managed to get it right. There are no official pricing limits here. Prices go up until people either stop buying the product, start stealing it in great numbers, or both.

So to sell a house, dealers have to break the price down into thousands of 50-bit parts and then sell it as a "complete pre-assembled set?"

It's what the business wants to sell it at. Most of the business owners in Leanore are smart though, they don't go selling a loaf of bread at ¥100 Leanorian Pounds. Ofcourse tax is involved as well.

Depends entirely on what part of the Empire one resides in. Though VAT is not enforced, prices on the home world are invariably the steepest, while products sell for less in annexed territory. This is due to the fact that we have literally tapped our planet dry; all raw materials must be imported causing massive inflation should our trade routes be disrupted.

Cultural values at the imperial level; at the ducal/kingdom level they're decided by the local lord/lady. In the end our prices are highly subject to bartering due to our society. Few people pay full value.

There are virtually no fixed prices in Fatatatutti. Except for a few coin-operated machines, which are used mostly by tourists, every price is haggled. Supply and demand only enter into it indirectly, since merchants can make back on one transaction what they lose on another.

Like several others, supply and demand.
Please note: Central Lothian is the direct successor to Mid Lothian*. As a result, I am still called Rebecca, I am still a Grammar Nazi and most information pertaining to ML also applies to CL (although I will be taking this time to change a few things).

* - And I may refer to the country as Mid Lothian. If I do, assume that I mean Central Lothian. (And not to be confused with "Midlothian" - I'm using that as a fascist version of CL.)

The principle of "supply and demand" helps to create reasonable prices. Also, there may be a sales tax, but it's not on everything.

Pricing is mostly based on supply and demand. There are laws restricting how far above and below the "natural price" at the time prices can go. This means that domestic services with almost-infinite supply, such as internet and phone, are nominally free, and supported solely by taxes.
