One would be blind to turn away from the Polytheistic history of their ancestors age old worship of Spirits, especially when several of their most notable figures throughout history have been immortalized as embodiments of their patron spirits, thus modern day Sanians both honor it's influence and make it nearly impossible for larger mainstream religions to take hold in the Confederacy.

We believe that those among the ranks of our greatest ancestors achieved enough in their mortal lives to ascend to the position of gods. The greatest of all of them being Saint Alexander, who destroyed the Old Republic and liberated the people from their reign of oppression centuries ago, then establishing the Monarchy our people trust and love to this very day.

There is no official state religion, but 80% of Dagnians follow a home-grown religion called Dagnianism, which grew out of several similar philosophies common in Dagnia. It places a strong emhasis on individualism coming from two of the other philosophies it is based on (LaVeyan Satanism and Objectivism). There is also belief in ritual magic, coming from both Satanism and Wicca. On issues like revenge or curses coming back on you, the religion leans more towards its roots in Satanism than Wicca, though many important concepts from the latter have come to Dagnianism. Taoism has also had a significant influence on the religion.

One of the things that originated in the religion is the strong belief in Dagnian national sovereignty over our solar system and fanatical devotion to Dagnian independence. The more devoted followers have a strong anti-UN WA stance. The religion does not want domination over foreign nations any more than Dagnia being dominated by a foreign power. Dagnianism views foreigners who have not yet assimilated as filthy (yet perfectly clean once assimilated, as in fluent in our language, knowing our customs and being nationalists for Dagnia) and those who refuse to assimilate as worthy of death. The solar system of Dagnia itself is viewed as a living entity.

The religions and philosophies Dagnianism is developed from are most of what is represented in the remaining 20%, though as we have a strong belief in religious tolerance, all religions are represented here. Most of those 20% are atheists.

Thus the most combination found in most areas of the Commonwealth is monotheistic paganism combined with Islam.
Many people wonder how it is possible to combine Islam with other beliefs, but most Massiyans do not see the problem, as it is a monotheistic religion and many of the traditional values of the Massiyan people is found in that religion too.
Many of the Commonwealth's neighboring countries are also Muslim in one way or another.
According to 10 year old census, roughly 1/3 of the population fell into the group monotheistic paganism combined with Islam.
In the coastal cities of the Commonwealth, other combinations are more dominant, but it usually monotheistic paganism combined with one or more non-traditional beliefs.
Other popular non-traditional beliefs are Bahá'í, Buddhism, Christianity, monotheistic Hinduism, Taoism, and Wicca.
NB! Since what is referred to as monotheistic paganism originated in the Commonwealth, it does not have a particular name in any of the Massiyan languages. The term "monotheistic paganism" is used for purposes to illustrate that it is set of beliefs with very ancient traditions in the Commonwealth that have eventually evolved into the belief of that there might be one single higher entity behind everything.

The Supreme Commander after asserting her power by simply keeping Oceara in Existance in the past two months had declared a national religion off her own belief (which coincidentally was the belief of an amazing 80% of the populace) but did not enforce it's belief.. Nobody would dare speak up against the woman with 160 million soldiers, and of course the national religion was not enforced so nobody really cared to be honest.
