Ser Di Haruk has a free market economy highly dependent on international trade and finance, which has left it heavily exposed to the global economic slowdown that began in 2008. The total value of goods and services trade, including the sizable share of re-exports, was equivalent to 404% of GDP in 2007. The territory has become increasingly integrated with that of The City State Rhydin, of which it shares a land bridge link to, over the past few years through trade, tourism, and financial links.

The City State Rhydin has long been Ser Di Haruk's largest trading partner, accounting for nearly 49% of Ser Di Haruk's exports trade by value in 2008. As a result of Rhydin's easing of travel restrictions, the number of tourists to the nation has surged from 4.5 million in 2001 to 16.9 million in 2008, when they outnumbered visitors from all other countries combined. Ser Di Haruk has also established itself as the premier stock market for Rhydin firms seeking to list abroad. More than one-third of the firms listed on the Ser Di Haruk Stock Exchange are now Rhydin companies. They account for 60% of the Exchange's market capitalization. During the past decade, its service industry has grown rapidly and now accounts for more than 60% of the nation's GDP.
