FN Self Loading Police Shotgun
or
Molot Vepr-12?

For any application, what do you think proves to be a really universal self-loading shotgun?

The SAIGA-12s have a pretty big break-in period, if memory serves me correct. I have heard of folks having to run ~100 shells of 00 Buck through it before it'll cycle birdshot or any lighter loads.

The Mossberg 930 I handled seemed quite nice. Didn't get to handle it too horribly much, but I was not displeased with it, and he shouldered very comfortably for me.

The rest I have no experience with. The VEPR-12, however, will most likely be the next shotgun I get, whenever that is (not really a shotgun guy). They are ~$1,000.00 and come already converted along with a magazine well present, unlike the SAIGA. VEPRs are also known for having the smoothest action of any AK on the civilian market at the moment, and since MOLOT makes RPKs, the receiver reinforcements should be top-notch. I would suggest reading about both the SAIGA and its known problems (whatever they may be), and the VEPR and its known problems. For me, basically any weapon I plan on getting in the future is going to be AK-based so I do not have to change my manual of arms. Whether or not this is the same case for you, I do not know.

Also, expect to pay a ton for magazines, regardless of which one you go with. This is where the other options have a bit of an advantage price-wise.

It's a norwegian license-produced G3. It has a slightly altered buttstock and a bolt carrier that's supposed to close silently or something due to serrations. There isn't really anything significant about it to distinguish it from other G3 copies.

I was just asking about a general question, what everyone liked.

As for the break in, that is simply not true! mine cycled number nine shot out of the box like a champion, 400 shells and only a single stovepipe.
Though I liked the ones we used in Russia better. :twisted:
