While the secret police see themselves as an elite investigative unit, they are generally held in low regard by other officers of the Sûreté. Much like the internal-affairs investigators of the Inspector General, the frumentaires are not seen as "real police". But most of their colleagues are wise enough to keep this opinion to themselves.
