What is the full name of your nation?: The Confederate States of Britinthia.

How much does your country depend on fossil fuels? (Tick one)
[ ] A Lot; only source of energy
[ ] Very much; most popular of the many energy sources
[ ] Average
[ ] Little; other sources are preferrable
[x] Not at all

[ ] Fossil Fuels (mostly petroleum)
[ ] Solar
[ ] Biofuel
[ ] Wind
[ ] Nuclear
[ ] Electric (hybrid car)
[x] Other (please explain) Britinthian power comes from a range of sources. The most technologically stunning, and used in all forms of transport, is the combustion of Hydrogen which in turn powers electric motors. The hydrogen itself comes from seawater, which as an island nation we have plenty of. We also utilise wave, wind and hydro-electric power where possible. (OOC: Don't ask how, just trust that it is possible, google has answers)
[ ] No cars allowed

IF YOUR NATION ALLOWS CARS, how many cars are there for every 10 citizens? (if no cars write 0): 4

What source of energy is used the MOST to power people's homes?: Electricity from the above methods. However in some southern regions wood is still burnt to heat homes during the harsh winter months.

Are forests preserved in your nation?: Yes

Give a percentage of products that can be recycled in your nation: 57%

Are people encouraged to carpool in your nation?: No

Are people encouraged to use public transportation in your nation?: Yes

If public transportation doesn't exist in your nation, what energy source do most private transportation run on?: Hydrogen combustion powering electric motors.

How much does your country's people use artificial light (including light from lightbulbs; please answer in hours [e.g. Use artificial light 7 hours a day]): On average 12 hours. This is due to the fact that some parts of the country are in total darkness for up to 3 months at a time during winter, but have total daylight in summer.

How common is air pollution in your country?: Not at all common. Harsh penalties exist for corporations who cause undue pollution.

Are most of your country's water bodies clean or dirty? Clean

If your country's people drive cars, how far do they drive in average every day? (if cars don't exist, please list 0) Approx 12 miles per car. However as stated above cars have nearly zero impact on the environment.
I set out to create a nation based on few laws, and common sense. Then I realised people are half wits who will use any excuse to test the boundries, and no boundries would be anarchy. Britinthia now has red tape on a scale never before seen outside of the U.K.

What is the full name of your nation?: The Empire Belonging to the Matriarch of the Batory Clan (it loses something in translation, which is why usually "The Batory Empire" or "The Empire of the Batorys" is used).

How much does your country depend on fossil fuels? (Tick one)
[ ] A Lot; only source of energy
[ ] Very much; most popular of the many energy sources
[ ] Average
[X] Little; other sources are preferrable
[ ] Not at all

What is the primary source of energy in your nation used to power cars? (Tick one)
[ ] Fossil Fuels (mostly petroleum)
[ ] Solar
[X] Biofuel (mix of biodiesels and alcohol based fuels)
[ ] Wind
[ ] Nuclear
[X] Electric (about as common as the biofuel cars)
[ ] Other (please explain)
[ ] No cars allowed

IF YOUR NATION ALLOWS CARS, how many cars are there for every 10 citizens? (if no cars write 0): This differs widely by province, and urban/rural. For an Empire-wide average, probably about four for every ten citizens.

What source of energy is used the MOST to power people's homes?: The Empire uses a mix of different energy sources. The most heavily used, however, are geothermal and nuclear (oldest reactors are 4th generation, though even these are being phased out in favor of the new fusion reactors), wind, and tidal. Solar is used in areas of the Empire that actually get a lot of sunlight (most of the empire does not). The Batorys don't like to put all their eggs in one basket.

Are forests preserved in your nation?: Yes.

Give a percentage of products that can be recycled in your nation: 76%

Are people encouraged to carpool in your nation?: Yes.

Are people encouraged to use public transportation in your nation?: Indeed. Unless you're transporting something, public transit is often the best way to get around, especially in the cities.

If public transportation doesn't exist in your nation, what energy source do most private transportation run on?: N/A, public transit does exist in the Empire.

How much does your country's people use artificial light (including light from lightbulbs; please answer in hours [e.g. Use artificial light 7 hours a day]): That varies widely by region and by season. Much of the Empire lies far enough north that during the winter, it is necessary for most citizens to use artificial light the majority of their waking hours.

How common is air pollution in your country?: Not very. Cars in the Empire are not particularly dirty, for cars, that is, and are held to high emissions standards. Additionally, as previously detailed, most of the Empire's energy comes from sources that do not have much effect on the atmosphere.

Are most of your country's water bodies clean or dirty? Clean.

If your country's people drive cars, how far do they drive in average every day? (if cars don't exist, please list 0) A fifty kilometer commute is considered unreasonably long. One of the benefits of being a bit authoritarian politically is much greater control over urban planning than many governments have. The Empire has long had the stance that trains, ferries, and bus systems are more efficient ways of transport than private cars, and so has usually been quite strict about any development being built around public transit lines. "Car Culture" is not really a thing in the Empire. Most citizens who drive at all on a daily basis probably drive around eight to sixteen kilometers in a day.
