Mechs aren't really our thing. The nation of Luw concentrates almost all military funding on the Luwinian Sky Fleet.

OOC: Oh god, that poor centurion, being called a Mecha. It's a Mech. Battlemech to be precise. And it's not an Assault Mech either, it's a medium.

Ruskarkand uses the RAVEN-RVN-3L Light Battlemech for PMT/FT rated encounters. Information can be found in the Military section of my factbook.

We purchase decommissioned mechas from various nations to see how well mechas in actual battles will fare against our weaponry. Tests thus far indicate that when subjected to high-powered focused energy weapons, a mecha's systems will short out within 3-7 seconds, and the operator will be literally burned to a crisp.

...Mechs?
Those actually exist?
(UDAC does not have any mechs, because most of the camps that were teleported to Carozza are from the Vietnam War era.)

Mechs? Outclassed by hovering battle platforms and personal battlesuits. Seriously, legs are overrated- blown up, tied up, whatever, they're useless when attacked. Also, legs are slower and less energy-efficient than conventional engines (or unconventional ones) because you need to make every joint move and hit the ground, instead of just charging up your drives and going in excess of 400 mph. Also also, unstable terrain can tear mechs apart, when they misstep and a leg breaks off. Anything that hovers or flies spits in rough terrain's face. The only real strategic use for mechs and the like is intimidation value. Very few things convey a sense of fear than a giant metal almost-human about to blow everything you've ever loved to smithereens.

The State does not operate any "combat" mechs or walkers, due to their poor performance compared to conventional armored vehicles. They're too easily disabled by AT fire to the legs and drive systems to serve any practical use in combat.

We do however maintain a number mobile artillery platforms for use in mountainous terrain. They've proven more effective than tracked or wheeled artillery units due their ability to provide a flat firing platform on uneven terrain.

The Saurisian military employs a number of Mechs. However, it should be noted that we call them Walkers, instead of just plain old Mechs. These different Walkers all fulfill different purposes.

First, there's the M91 Medium Walker, designed to aid and support the troops as well as being a general battle Walker:

Link

Then, there's the M60 man-portable walker, intended to give adequate support to infantry, they're smaller and weaker than the M91:

Image

There's also the M11 Wyvern Light Assault Walker, designed to deal out more firepower and be stronger and more durable than the M60, but lighter and faster than the M100 and XM6. Production has begun on the now-ready military model of the vehicle and is slated to equip Walker Battalions by the end of the year.

Image

There's the M100 Heavy Assault Walker, designed to carry troops as well as lead an assault against enemy-held strongholds and cities:

Image

The M91 is currently being replaced by the M73 Crocodile, stronger, faster, and more powerful than the older M91.

Image

We are also testing a new Heavy Walker, the XM6 Majungasaurus, designed to conduct heavy assaults on the enemy and unleash a punishing barrage of fire on hostile forces:

The PROR government has been issuing more funds towards robotic soldiers and mechs. Currently, the PROR has only invented one type of mech: the Multi-Terrain Tread Vehicle.
Image

The MTTV's purpose is to assist ground soldiers, notably the Army Imperialist Division, in attacking cities. The MTTV is armed with an automated minigun and two 20mm cannons. The armor is able to withstand multiple direct hits from a 20mm cannon and thousands of small arms' rounds. There have been approximately sixty made. The cost to produce a single MTTV has not been released to the public. Nothing more about it has been released to the public.

I've got a whole factbook entry with my drones here!
They only stand a meter tall; but intelligent lil' robots that can problem-solve are cool; no?

Image

The mining lasers are capable of cutting through military armor, if used at maximum power. Although this drains the battery significantly more than the standard use.
Top speed? Around 70mph on the wing, 32mph while running.

Though only one of our mechs -Champion class Drone- was ever designed for combat situations, And I need to get around to actually drawing it...

We would use mechas more often if they were less easy to disable. (breaking their legs immobilizes them) Often, a flying tank will suffice. However, we do have a small-scale version that is harder to disable than those big, clunky, low-inertia mechas you see. They are regular MJC units vested in heavy power-armor.The MJC Mecha-Man...

It is equipped with sophisticated AI, 4 artillery cannons, 4 war cannons, and 2 missile pods.
It was deployed during the War of the Mekong River against the Republic of India in 2050s.
The Republic of India's army were quickly destroyed and eradicated by the Zhangfei in a day.

The Confederacy is still using some WWII era weaponry, so it's uprising we have mechs at all.

Well, we have some prototypes and outdated mechs. Some of them are used in construction roles and transport, but the tougher ones are put into military service, such as the MK.1 Defender, below.

These are proven models, and our people wish to be done with factories large enough to produce them again. Other than that, we still use traditional armour.

Curious, is TechTown alone in preferring to deploy swarms of smaller VI-piloted mechs?
Our Drones are around two-thirds the height of the average human, and they're rather effective. The few occasions they tackle other mecha, they simply overwhelm with small frames and number to cut it into manageable pieces for Collector Drones to salvage.

We have no need for puny robots, as our well-trained giant monsters are more than capable of smashing them to electronic garbage and ripping them limb from limb.

Has anyone here actually thought up realistic control schemes for their mechs?

Seriously. Controlling a robot humanoid equipped with rockets and lasers must be no mean feat.

Well, no. But then that's the advantage of having a citizenry of AI I suppose. They're just robots in our case, not even controlled by an AI.
For other Nations, I can only suppose that the mechs are either pretty clunk, and act merely as walking tanks, are some kind of tech-suit or handwave it with it simply being ''Ridiculously intuitutve'' as TTGL says.
Though another option struck me before I hit the post button, if a macguffunite material is used, they could take the ZOE approach and have the mech connect on some freaky spiritual level. But then the mechs in that universe seem to be controlled by two buttons...
